Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 8, 2024February 8, 2024 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 SUGAR APPLE (5) looked in trouble but dug deep when winning here in good time and looks the one to beat again. REGAL CHEVAL (4) has been racing well without winning this time in and he will give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. MEDIEVAL MAN (1) was a strong winner here three starts back and must be considered from the pole but may not have the speed to hold up at the start. ROCKNROLL ELLIOT (10) has been placed in three of his last four starts and can figure if he has any luck from his awkward draw. Tips: 5 4 1 10 Suggested Bet: SUGAR APPLE (5) to win. Race 2 ROLLING FIRE (2) is first-up without a trial but he finished 4th in the Western Gateway and WA Derby at his last two starts before a spell and has a class advantage over his rivals. IDEAL TOMADO (1) led throughout to record back-to-back wins at Albany before being caught in the breeze when 3rd at his last start and should give a great sight from the pole. FLYING RUMOUR (4) is racing at the top of his game and must be considered. ONESMARTFELLA (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs first-up and won’t be far away. Tips: 2 1 4 10 Suggested Bet: ROLLING FIRE (2) to win. Race 3 HOTLY PURSUED (1) resumed with an impressive all-the-way win over SOHO SANTORINI (5) before facing the breeze when 4th to the same pacer. He draws to lead tonight and should prove hard to catch. JAWSOFLINCOLN (9) produced one of the best efforts seen at GP when winning the Nights Of Thunder and must be respected despite the draw. THE MIKI TAKER (4) looked back to his best when narrowly beaten in quick time at his first run back from a spell and looks set for a good campaign. SOHO SANTORINI (5) has recorded four wins and a 2nd from his last five starts and must be considered. Tips: 1 9 5 4 Suggested Bet: HOTLY PURSUED (1) to win. Race 4 IDEAL AGENT (5) couldn’t have been more impressive when winning from the breeze first-up and will strip fitter for that effort. MINSTREL (8) has won three on end including dominant victories at his last two starts in quick time but has a tough draw to overcome. CHAL PATCH (2) led when narrowly beaten in 1.53.1 in the Nights Of thunder Final and is capable of upsetting the Bond pair with the right run. TALKS UP A STORM (6) as led throughout to win two of his last three starts and will give some cheek if he crosses. Tips: 5 8 2 6 Suggested Bet: IDEAL AGENT (5) to win. Race 5 STENO (3) has used her blistering gate speed to lead throughout at her last three starts and will be very hard to catch over the sprint trip if she crosses in the early stages. CYCLONE CHARLOTTE (1) faced the breeze when a game 3rd to the favourite at her last and looks a major player from the pole. WONDERFUL TO FLY (11) has been freshened up since disappointing here but must be considered on her previous outstanding form. TAKING THE MIKI (2) worked her way to the front when a dominant 1.55.1 winner at her last start and should be prominent throughout. Tips: 3 1 11 2 Suggested Bet: STENO (3) to win. Race 6 OTIS (9) was out of form but his two efforts since a freshen up indicate he should break back into the winners’ circle soon. MISTER MONTBLANC (6) was a strong winner in good time at his first run from the stand and he looks a major player again. ARDENS HORIZON (11) was a comfortable winner here last week but goes back to a 20m handicap tonight. DEEORSE (5) is in career best form and can be placed at odds again. Tips: 9 6 11 5 Suggested Bet: OTIS (9) to win. Race 7 PONZI BEACH (4) has been racing well in stronger fields and she will be hard to beat if she can work her way to the front tonight. AZTERIAN (6) was a strong 2nd from the breeze at his last start to indicate that he is getting back to his best. YOU FLY WITH ME (9) is drawn poorly but his last start 5th was full of merit and he can give a sight at odds. MADDY ROCKS (10) is drawn to get a soft run and can be dangerous if she gets the right breaks. Tips: 4 6 9 10 Suggested Bet: PONZI BEACH (4) to win. Race 8 LUCAPELO (4) resumed with an eye-catching 2nd to All Is Well in 1.54.7 here last week and appeals as the one to beat tonight. ROCKABALL (2) resumes after a short freshen up and looks suited in this class. HES NEVER BEEN BETA (6) resumes after a seven-month absence without a trial but raced consistently in his 3YO campaign so monitor the market. LADY PRIMA DONNA (1) has been placed in three of her four starts this time in and should be thereabouts from the pole. Tips: 4 2 6 1 Suggested Bet: ROCKABALL (2) each way. Race 9 MASTER LEIGHTON (2) has only been placed once in his past 25 starts but a recent 2nd to Lavra Joe in a recent trial indicates that he can give this a shake first-up. DISCO UNDER FIRE (3) had excuses when 4th as a $1.22 favourite at his last start and must be respected on his previous form. STAR OF WILLOUGHBY (6) has been placed in two of his last three starts and looks suited in this class. OUR STAR WATCH (5) chased hard when 3rd to two smart ones here last week and will appreciate the drop in class. Tips: 2 3 6 5 Suggested Bet: MASTER LEIGHTON (2) each way. Race 10 XCEPTIONAL ARMA (6) won her last four starts before going for a break and her recent trial win indicates that she will be very hard to beat first-up. IN A WINK (4) resumes without as trial but looks the obvious danger. PRINCESS KATIE (5) is drawn awkwardly but can figure if she gets the right cart into the race WORLD SECRET (1) has the draw to be prominent and can be placed. Tips: 6 4 5 1 Suggested Bet: XCEPTIONAL ARMA (6) to win. Market Market
