Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on August 31, 2023August 31, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 OCTOBER REIGN (1) has mixed his form but he is a capable frontrunner who looks the one to beat from the pole over the sprint trip. PAUL EDWARD (8) has the best form in the race but has a wide draw to overcome and would be better suited over a longer journey. LAMANDIER (2) is likely to get a lovely run behind the speed and will be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. HIGH PRICE (4) is racing well and has a good record at this distance. Tips: 1 8 2 4 Suggested Bet: OCTOBER REIGN (1) to win. Race 2 FIVE BANGLES (1) was a comfortable all-the-way winner here two starts back and should lead and give a great sight tonight. BEYOND THE SEA (6) led when a distant 2nd to Cyclone Charlotte at her last start and is versatile enough to overcome her awkward draw. ROCKNROLL SASS (12) chased home Wonderful To Fly here last week and will appreciate the drop in class but has to contend with a back line draw tonight. DIAMOND DAZE (10) is drawn to get as lovely run on the pegs and can be placed. Tips: 1 6 12 10 Suggested Bet: FIVE BANGLES (1) to win. Race 3 KIMBLE (3) has been held up for a run at his last starts but he draws to press for an all-the-way victory here and he looks the one to beat. TROOPINGOFTHECOLOUR (2) couldn’t get into the race last week but his previous form was good enough to bring him into contention now that he starts from the pole draw. MUSZTANG (9) recorded an impressive win here last week but isn’t as well drawn tonight. ONESMARTFELLA (4) couldn’t make up ground in a quick last half here last week but can be dangerous with the right run. Tips: 3 2 9 4 Suggested Bet: WHOS THE DAD (8) to win. Race 4 PRINCE OF PLEASURE (1) overcame a wide draw to finish 2nd to Mighty Ronaldo here last week and is clearly the one to beat from the pole. STEEL THE SHOW (2) has performed well without winning in stand events at his last three starts and is drawn to be prominent throughout tonight. DIEGO (7) and JUMPINGJACKMAC (5) are both classy customers who are first-up and can figure if there is a strong early tempo. Tips: 1 2 7 5 Suggested Bet: PRINCE OF PLEASURE (1) to win. Race 5 TALKS UP A STORM (1) is first-up against a strong field but he is a talented frontrunner when near his best and he should give a great sight from the pole. YOURE SO FINE (2) has resumed with six wins on end and is clearly the one to beat but may not get it all his own way here. ALCOPONY (10) resumed with a solid 3rd to Mea Culpa and can be dangerous from his nice trailing draw. GOODFELLAZ (12) was ultra-impressive when breezing and winning the San Simeon Classic and must be considered gain despite the back line draw. Tips: 1 2 10 12 Suggested Bet: TALKS UP A STORM (1) each way. Race 6 CORDERO (2) was a solid 2nd here two starts back and should prove hard to beat from his perfect draw here. BEE JAYS BOY (6) drops in class on his recent assignments and looks an obvious danger. GEE SMITH (1) has been placed at his last two starts and should be thereabouts again from the pole. SIMPLY SHAZ (9) was a close-up 3rd in a stronger field here last week but isn’t as well drawn tonight and will need a solid early tempo to bring her into calculations. Tips: 2 6 1 9 Suggested Bet: CORDERO (2) to win. Race 7 MR FANTASTIC (1) led throughout here four starts back but has battled bad barriers in his subsequent events. He looks the leader tonight and is clearly the one to beat. WATTS UP SUNSHINE (2) is likely to go to the favourite’s back here and looks the main danger if he can see daylight early enough. BEAT CITY (4) has impressed in winning his last two starts and can be in the finish again despite the rise in class. HILLVIEW BONDI (6) has led throughout to record impressive wins at his last two starts but is unlikely to find the top here. Tips: 1 2 4 6 Suggested Bet: MR FANTASTIC (1) to win. Race 8 MARENGO BAY (6) started a $1.18 favourite at his WA debut when a narrow but impressive winner at Pinjarra and is clearly the one to beat again. THATS NOT MY GAIT (2) was a strong winner from the breeze on the same day and will be hard to beat if he can find the front. LUVAFLAIR (9) has won three of his last four starts and will provide great each way value again. CHUMANI (4) has been placed in seven of his last nine starts and can be in the money again at good odds. Tips: 6 2 9 4 Suggested Bet: LUVAFLAIR (9) each way. Race 9 WATER LOU (9) kept her undefeated record intact when leading throughout from this draw at her last start and she is clearly the one to beat again. NASE VIRA (7) has displayed plenty of ability and was a good last start winner at Narrogin after facing the breeze. COPY CAT QUEEN (3) ran 2nd in that event and can be placed here from her favourable draw. THE SWINDLER (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and that could be a good place to be in the final lap. Tips: 9 7 3 10 Suggested Bet: WATER LOU (9) to win. Race 10 NEVER ENDING (2) is undefeated in nine career starts and warmed up for this event when running home in 26.4 to win a recent Pinjarra trial and he is clearly the one to beat. LOUIE DIOR (1) has won all three career starts and his latest win from the breeze indicated that he could test the favourite with the advantage of the barrier draw. IM THE BLACK FLASH (5) had big raps but didn’t really produce last time in but must be respected after having a break. SORRIDERE (4) is a nice two year old who can be placed. Tips: 2 1 5 4 Suggested Bet: LOUIE DIOR (1) to win. Market Market
