Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 15, 2021July 15, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 CAPTAINS BEACHBABE (1) faced the breeze when a strong Pinjarra winner on Monday and looks hard to beat from the pole tonight. BLACKJACK BABY (7) was hampered by a flat tyre when 4th to CAPTAINS BEACHBABE (1) on Monday and has the speed to overcome the wide draw. RUMOUR HAS IT (2) ran 2nd in that event and should give a great sight from this draw. OUR STAR BILLING (4) led throughout to defeat a similar field two starts back but is unlikely to find the top here. Tips: 1 7 2 4 Suggested Bet: CAPTAINS BEACHBABE (1) to win. Race 2 EXTREME PRINCE (1) led and was beaten less than 2m when 3rd to Rocknroll Whitby here last week. He should lead again and will be suited by the shorter trip. CARRERA MACH (4) will strip fitter for his first-up 5th in that race and looks a major player. BETTOR BE LIVELY (7) faced the breeze when a solid 4th in that race and must be respected on that effort. BLACK JACK ZAC (2) was hopelessly held up in the same event and will be thereabouts with better luck in running. Tips: 1 4 7 2 Suggested Bet: BETTOR BE LIVELY (7) each way. Race 3 POWERPLAY (1) led throughout to defeat Arma Einstein at Pinjarra on Monday and will lead here and give them something to catch. CAVEMAN (8) was rewarded for his consistency when a solid all-the-way winner here last week and has shown he is capable of running on from back in the field. BATAVIA ON FIRE (3) raced well last campaign and warmed up for this assignment with an impressive Pinjarra trial win and must be respected. BETTOR BE OSCAR (4) will be fitter fort his first-up 4th here last week and has the clasd to figure. Tips: 1 8 3 4 Suggested Bet: POWERPLAY (1) to win. Race 4 TYLER BRETT (1) couldn’t find the front but wasn’t far away at the finish when a 4.5m 5th here last week. He should lead tonight and prove hard to catch. ULTIMATE OFFER (10) took no part in his first run back from a spell but looks the main danger from this draw based on his last campaign. BRACKEN SKY (6) is always capable with the right run and will be charging home if there is a solid tempo. ROCKNROLL WHITBY (2) overcame a wide draw to win here last week and shouldn’t settle in a nice spot from this draw. Tips: 1 10 6 2 Suggested Bet: TYLER BRETT (1) to win. Race 5 QUEEN SHENANDOAH (1) ran a nice 2nd to Minstrel three starts back and will be hard to beat if she can hold up at the start. FIFTY FIVE REBORN (6) has recorded strong all-the-way victories at her last two starts an should be right in the finish again. ALICE KAY (11) had no luck at her last start and is more than capable of winning an event of this nature. TALKERUP (10) is drawn to trail the polemarker and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 1 6 11 10 Suggested Bet: QUEEN SHENANDOAH (1) to win. Race 6 HOWARD HUGHES (10) was a solid 3rd at his first run back from a spell and will be charging home if the early tempo is solid. GAMBIT (5) has produced two strong efforts since crossing the Tasman and will fight out the finish again. AL GUERRERO (7) did too much work but fought on bravely when 3rd here last week and will give them something to catch if he can cross quickly at the start. OUR SEQUEL (1) doesn’t have the class of his main rivals but has drawn the pole and is a last-start winner. Tips: 10 5 7 1 Suggested Bet: HOWARD HUGHES (10) to win. Race 7 MINSTREL (10) has resumed from a spell with two dominant victories and is clearly the one to beat despite his 30m handicap. NEARIS GREEN (2) settled midfield but sprinted over the top of his rivals to win at Pinjarra and looks a major player tonight. AWAITINGINSTRUCTIONS (3) has won nine of his 14 race starts and is undefeated in eight attempts from the stand so must be respected despite the rise in class. BETTOR COPAGOODONE (8) has been placed in her last seven starts and can be in the money again. Tips: 10 2 3 8 Suggested Bet: MINSTREL (10) to win. Race 8 VAMPIRO (2) resumed with a nice 3rd and will be hard to beat if he finds the front as there doesn’t appear to be a lot of pressure in this event. TO FAST TO SERIOUS (5) ran a solid 3rd behind Shockwave here last week and will appreciate a drop in class and the small field. CHIAROSCURO (1) has options at the start and should be thereabouts from his perfect draw. BOOM TIME (3) is likely to settle three back on the pegs and won’t be far away. Tips: 2 5 1 3 Suggested Bet: VAMPIRO (2) to win. Race 9 ALTA ENGEN (1) led and sprinted home in 55.8 to win first-up and a similar performance should see him bring up his 11th victory from 17 starts. PLUTONIUM (2) has been battling bad barriers lately and will appreciate the favourable draw tonight. ALTA INTRIGUE (6) was a solid 2nd to Caveman here last week and has the strength to overcome the wide draw. THE WATCH MAKER (7) is racing well and has been placed at his last two starts but will find it hard from out here. Tips: 1 2 6 7 Suggested Bet: ALTA ENGEN (1) to win. Market Market
