Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 18, 2021February 18, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 LAVRA JOE (1) won five of his seven starts last time in and resumed with a dominant stand win at Bunbury. He takes on a nice field here but is drawn to lead and will be extremely hard to catch. TALKS UP A STORM (2) has won his last two starts and the rise in class offset by the fact he is drawn to trail the favourite. MIGHTY RONALDO (5) is the reigning Golden Slipper winner and did defeat LAVRA JOE (1) in a recent Bunbury trial. ROBBIE ROCKET (4) should settle close to the lead and looks a place chance. Tips: 1 2 5 4 Suggested Bet: LAVRA JOE (1) to win. Race 2 SHADOW ROLL (10) has been thereabouts at his past few starts including a close-up 5th to Extradite last week. He is drawn to get a soft trip tonight and will be dangerous if he gets clear at the right time. MR KIWI (4) faced the breeze when 3rd in the same race last week and should make his presence felt again. BROOKIES JET (1) has been unplaced at all seven starts this time in but has led throughout over this distance before and could give some cheek. LIAM NEIL (8) drops in class for this assignment but has a wide draw to overcome. Tips: 10 4 1 8 Suggested Bet: SHADOW ROLL (10) each way. Race 3 BLACK JACK ZAC (10) couldn’t make ground in a quick last half here on Tuesday but is drawn to get a nice run on the pegs and can be dangerous late. TERROR IN TEXAS (12) had won four of his past five starts before failing in the Golden Nugget but will appreciate the drop back in class. SPACE JUNK (4) didn’t perform at his best last time in but has trialled nicely for his return and must be considered. BEACH SKIPPER (1) led throughout in 1.57.1 at his last start and will give a great sight out in front. Tips: 10 12 4 1 Suggested Bet: BLACK JACK ZAC (10) each way. Race 4 HOWARD HUGHES (3) finished 5th in the two major 4YO Classics and is clearly the one to beat from this draw. PATRICKTHEPIRANHA (12) is the other class runner and looks the main danger but will be giving the favourite a head start. FIFTY FIVE REBORN (11) has won her last two starts impressively will find it harder from the backline tonight. DREDLOCK ROCKSTAR (1) was placed in four of his last five starts before a spell and is drawn to be in the money again. Tips: 3 12 11 1 Suggested Bet: HOWARD HUGHES (3) to win. Race 5 WILDWEST (1) looked to be bolting when held up for a run here last week and gets the draw to make him the one to beat tonight. WAINUI CREEK (10) steps up to this company for the first time but should enjoy a nice run on the pegs and could be the value runner. VULTAN TIN (12) has ran nice 2nds at his past two starts and will be suited by the likely solid tempo. MAJOR TIMES (11) crosses the Nullabor with strong form lines and must be respected at his first start in the Olivieri camp. Tips: 1 10 12 11 Suggested Bet: WAINUI CREEK (10) each way. Race 6 ALWAYS AN ANGEL (3) has won six of her seven career starts and resumed with an impressive victory over BLACK JACK BABY (7). She will be fitter for that effort and appeals as the one to beat. BLACK JACK BABY (7) has won nine of her 15 race starts and is capable of turning the tables with the right trip in transit. RUMOUR HAS IT (1) has won three of her last five starts and must be considered from the pole. AMERICAN ARMA (12) has won five of her six race starts and has the ability to overcome the back line draw. Tips: 3 7 1 12 Suggested Bet: ALWAYS AN ANGEL (3) to win. Race 7 MATAI GEORDIE (10) has produced sizzling last halves in his two WA victories and will be hard to hold out if he can be extricated from his awkward draw. ANVIL ROLLOVER (1) hasn’t had any luck in his recent starts and looks a major improver from the pole where his driver has options at the start. LITTLE BITOF FUN (2) was a strong 4th at his last start and will give some cheek if he can find the front. VALENTINES BROOK (4) is racing well but has plenty of speed drawn to his inside and will need some luck. Tips: 10 1 2 4 Suggested Bet: MATAI GEORDIE (10) to win. Race 8 ANTERO (2) is racing extremely well and looks the winner if he finds the top but can still run a big race if that doesn’t eventuate. AL GUERERRO (7) battled on well to finish 6th in the Golden Nugget last week and could cross at the start if he goes forward. DIEGO (9) was an impressive winner here last week but has a horror draw to overcome. WALSH (1) is racing consistently and his driver has options from the pole. Tips: 2 7 9 1 Suggested Bet: ANTERO (2) to win. Race 9 INTHESKYROCKET (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and will be charging home if she sees daylight at the right time. MISS LIMELIGHT (8) is drawn wide but has won eight of 14 career starts and wasn’t disgraced when 2nd in 1.55.9 here last week. HEADLINE ACT (3) has been unplaced in her past five starts but will be a big improver if she happens to find the front. BATAVIA SILVERLINE (1) has been unplaced in her last nine starts but did win from this draw in 1.57.9 in July. Tips: 10 8 3 1 Suggested Bet: INTHESKYROCKET (10) to win. Race 10 ALWAYS A DREAMER (2) is a wonderfully consistent mare who has won her last two starts in impressive fashion. She is well drawn tonight and is clearly the one to beat. MY MDINA (1) ran a 7.5m 2nd to ALWAYS A DREAMER (1) at her last start and looks the main danger from the pole. DARK SECRET (3) appreciated not clashing with the favourite when winning her last start and shouldn’t be far away. WAR SPIRIT (5) defeated an inferior field two starts back and has the gate speed to make things interesting early. Tips: 2 1 3 5 Suggested Bet: ALWAYS A DREAMER (2) to win. Market Market
