Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 21, 2021January 21, 2021 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 POCKET THE CASH (1) is a remarkably consistent type who has performed well from bad draws at his last two starts. He goes up in class tonight but is drawn to lead and should give a great sight. MASTER PUBLISHER (4) led throughout for an impressive win here last week and looks a major player again. MINSTREL (9) is the class pacer of the field but has done things wrong at his last two starts and must be taken on trust. BOOM TIME (5) is first-up here without a trial but can play a part if anywhere near his top. Tips: 1 4 9 5 Suggested Bet: POCKET THE CASH (1) to win. Race 2 BABYFACE ADDA (2) has been placed at his past three starts and gets his chance to break back into the winners’ circle. He was a strong 3rd here in quick time last week and is drawn inside his main rivals tonight. BETTOR BE OSCAR (5) has faced the breeze and finished 2nd at his last two starts and should be right in the finish again. MIRACLE MOOSE (7) is working back to his best form but has a tough draw to overcome. BAD ROUND (1) doesn’t have the class of his rivals but is drawn to get a lovely run and should provide each-way value. Tips: 2 5 7 1 Suggested Bet: BAD ROUND (1) each way. Race 3 DIEGO (2) has won four of his six starts in WA including a 1.55.1 all-the-way win here two starts back. He had no luck at his last start but drops in class for this assignment and is clearly the one to beast. PATRICKTHEPIRANHA (10) is the other class runner in the field and will come right into calculations if the favourite doesn’t find the front. ALTA RHETT (1) is favoured by the draw and shouldn’t be far away. TIFFANY ROSE (3) has the gate speed to test the favourite early and will give them something to catch if she can cross at the start. Tips: 2 10 1 3 Suggested: DIEGO (2) to win. Race 4 PATRONUS STAR (1) has won eight of his 11 WA starts and his last effort can be overlooked when he was retired in the early stages after suffering a flat tyre. He looks the leader tonight and will be extremely hard to catch. HOWARD HUGHES (5) did defeat the favourite two starts back before having no luck last week and is the obvious danger. BRACKEN SKY (2) doesn’t have the class of his rivals but can be placed from his nice draw. STROKE OF LUCK (4) has been racing in collectively stronger fields and shouldn’t be far away. Tips: 1 5 2 4 Suggested Bet: PATRONUS STAR (1) to win. Race 5 THATS PERFECT (5) broke the clock when working to the front and winning his heat in 1.52.1 last week. He may not find the lead tonight but is still clearly the one to beat. INFATUATION (1) has won 10 of his 20 race starts and is a different horse in front so is the obvious danger from the pole. QUEEN SHENANDOAH (2) is drawn to get the run of the race and won’t be far away. BLUE BLAZER (4) started from a wide draw when 6th to THATS PERFECT (5) last week but will settle closer to the lead tonight. Tips: 5 1 2 4 Suggested Bet: THATS PERFECT (5) to win. Race 6 FIFTY FIVE REBORN (1) faced the breeze when a solid 2nd to Extradite at her last start and can go one better if she can hold up at the start tonight. ROLL WITH ME (4) was a strong 3rd here before having no luck last week and should be thereabouts in this field. BLACK JACK ZAC (10) is racing consistently and can be dangerous from his soft pegs draw. SHADOW ROLL (3) drops in class on his recent assignments and should be considered from his nice barrier. Tips: 1 4 10 3 Suggested Bet: BLACK JACK ZAC (10) each way. Race 7 MINI MINE YET (2) has been caught in the breeze at her last two starts but looks a good each way chance based on her 2nd to Somebeachparty at her previous run. SWEET MADDISON (4) has won eight of her 19 career starts and has the gate speed to make things interesting at the start. RUN FOR MERCY (6) bounced back to form with a solid all-the-way victory at her last start and could go on with it. MILEYS DESIRE (1) loves to follow the speed and looks a good place chance from the pole. Tips: 2 4 6 1 Suggested Bet: MINI MINE YET (2) each way. Race 8 CHUMANI (2) is a consistent trotter who followed three consecutive 2nds with a comfortable all-the-way victory against a similar field to what he meets tonight. He looks likely to find the top and will be hard to catch in that role. DARK SECRET (5) and CHAMPAGNE PRINCE (6) both meet CHUMANI (2) 10 metres better off at the handicaps and are the two obvious dangers. ONE BID BUYS (3) is a reliable trotter who can be placed if she gets the breaks in running. Tips: 2 5 6 3 Suggested Bet: CHUMANI (2) to win. Market Market
