Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 23, 2020December 23, 2020 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1: MAGNIFICENT STORM (12) has taken all before him since arriving in WA, winning all nine starts. He has led in most of those and encounters a back line draw against a hot field here but still appeals as the one to beat. GARDYS LEGACY (1) has been chosen as the drive for Gary Hall Jnr over some fancied Hall runners so must be respected from the pole. ALTA BLUES (5) and COPY N PACE (6) ran 1st and 2nd in a recent Bunbury event and both can be right in the finish with a nice trip. Tips: 12 1 5 6 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (12) to win. Race 2: DIEGO (1) wasn’t disgraced when he worked hard from an outside draw before finishing a close-up 4th here last week. He had won his previous three starts and looks extremely hard to beat from the pole tonight. PARMESAN (10 has won two of his three starts this time in and is drawn to get a lovely run in transit. THE KRAKEN (3) has ran nice placings at his last two starts and shouldn’t be far away from this draw. ANTERO (2) beat home DIEGO (1) when 2nd here last week and must be respected from his nice barrier. Tips: 1 10 3 2 Suggested Bet: DIEGO (1) to win. Race 3: ROMAN AVIATOR (1) was suited by the hot tempo when running on strongly to record a 1.55.4 victory here last week. He will be a lot shorter in the market from the pole tonight and should prove hard to beat. ROCK ME OVER (3) disappointed when he led and was beaten into 3rd here last week but must be considered in this company. BRACKEN SKY (2) drops in class and is well drawn and looks a major player. LIAM NEIL (4) will need luck after drawing outside his main rivals but can still play a part with luck in running. Tips: 1 3 2 4 Suggested: ROMAN AVIATOR (1) to win. Race 4: AMERICAN BRAVE (5) has been a beaten favourite at his past four starts but his last effort had plenty of merit when he worked too hard in the early stages. Punters have been burnt but he does deserve one more chance. SANGUE REALE (2) is the other class runner in the field but isn’t racing at his peak. DISCO UNDER FIRE (1) is better suited from the stand but will get a nice run from the pole draw. BAD ROUND (10) loves a soft pegs draw and can be in the finish at odds. Tips: 5 2 1 10 Suggested Bet: BAD ROUND (10) each way. Race 5: PATRONUS STAR (1) won seven on end before resuming from a spell with a strong 2nd here last week. He goes up in class but will be fitter for that effort and looks hard to beat from the pole. BRAEVIEW BONDI (10) needs all the favours in this company but will get them from this draw and should be in the finish. VULTAN TIN (9) won the WA Pacing Cup two starts back and has the class but the draw makes it tough. JIMMY MACK (2) was taken on in front here at his last start and can be placed from his nice draw. Tips: 1 10 9 2 Suggested Bet: PATRONUS STAR (1) to win. Race 6: MR KIWI (12) raced competitively in his last campaign but could only manage one win from his seven starts. He performed poorly at his last run but resumes here after a break so monitor the betting closely. TAROONA BROMAC (6) has finished near the rear at his last five starts but could be a big improver if he can cross at the start. MISTER ARDEE (4) drops in class on his recent assignments and will be charging home. A BOY NAMED ROSIE (1) did lead throughout from this draw back in September and can also be dangerous with a sit. Tips: 12 6 4 1 Suggested Bet: MR KIWI (12) to win. Race 7: LAWRENCE (5) faced the breeze when a game 2nd to TRIROYALE BRIGADE (8) here last week and looks the one to beat tonight. YES HES A LADIES MAN (2) has won four of his six starts this time in including two all-the-way victories from the stand. He looks the likely leader here and should prove hard to catch. TRIROYALE BRIGADE (8) was an impressive winner here last week after leading throughout but gives his main rivals a start tonight. JESSE ALLWOOD (6) is a consistent type who will be running on strongly. Tips: 5 2 8 6 Suggested Bet: LAWRENCE (5) to win. Race 8: BALCATHERINE (7) was a dominant winner of the Mares’ Classic and then acquitted herself well when finishing 4th at her first start in open company. She is in peak form and is clearly the one to beat. VIVERE DAMORE (4) has won her last two starts and went to a new level when a 1.55.0 winner here last week and must be respected. QUEEN SHENANDOAH (2) is racing well and is the best drawn of the main chances. GOTTA GO GABBANA (8) is the other class mare of the field but has a tough draw to overcome. Tips: 7 4 2 8 Suggested Bet: BALCATHERINE (7) to win. Race 9: HOWARD HUGHES (4) is first-up without a trial but has won ten of his 13 career starts and will be hard to beat if anywhere near his best. MISTA SHARK (1) is first-up after a 22-month absence but has trialled nicely for his return and has plenty of ability. BABYFACE ADDA (2) is drawn to get a nice run just off the speed and can be placed. SHADOW ROLL (3) has battled bad draws of late but shouldn’t be far away from his nice barrier tonight. Tips: 4 1 2 3 Suggested Bet: HOWARD HUGHES (4) to win. Race 10: AMERICAN ARMA (7) faced the breeze when a 1.4m winner over RUMOUR HAS IT (6) last start. She has drawn outside that rival again but still appeals as the one to beat. RUMOUR HAS IT (6) will strip fitter for her first-up run and is capable of turning the tables. BLACK JACK BABY (8) has won seven of her nine career starts and could cross at the start and give them something to catch if connections feel she is fit enough at her first run back from a spell. OUR SHOOTING STAR (1) looks a good place chance from the pole. Tips: 7 6 8 1 Suggested Bet: AMERICAN ARMA (7) to win. Market Market
