The Scout: EPL Week 22 Posted on January 14, 2022January 14, 2022 | Posted by The Scout Burnley vs Leicester City Burnley (18th) have not found victory in the Premier League for seven straight matches but are only 2 points behind 17th placed Watford. Leicester City (10th) enter this match off the biggest win of their season as they took down Liverpool 1-0, they will be hoping their form continues. The biggest problem Burnley have faced is their ability to score goals as they have only managed to find the back of the net twice in their last five matches. To add to this misery, Burnley lost their best striker Chris Wood who signed with relegation rivals Newcastle, they will now struggle even further to find goals. Leicester have had an inconsistent season but have started to find form recently which was highlighted by the match against Manchester City which saw them fight to the end and score three goals against the defending champions. There is a clear difference between these two sides as Leicester possess a lot more firepower than a struggling Burnley side. The Foxes have scored 12 times against the league’s bottom four sides and this form will continue as they take care of business against a Burnley side that appears destined for relegation. Suggested Bet: Leicester WIN @ $2.20* Wolverhampton vs Southampton Wolverhampton (8th) have won three in a row and are looking incredibly hard to beat while Southampton (11th) are also playing great football and have not lost a match in the Premier League in four straight fixtures. Defensively Wolves are at their best, they have kept a clean sheet in their last three straight matches while none of their last eight Premier League games have seen more than one goal scored. This defensively prowess was on full display in Wolverhampton’s 1-0 shutout of Manchester United and their 0-0 draw with Chelsea. Although Southampton have been scoring plenty of goals including 4 against Brentford in their last fixture, they have not faced a defense as ferocious as Wolverhampton’s. Wolves have the second-best defensive record in the league behind Manchester City and will completely smother Southampton’s advances. 15 of Wolverhampton’s last 16 Premier League wins have been by a margin of just one goal, which speaks volumes for just how good they are defensively. I expect Southampton to struggle to find any goal scoring opportunities while Wolves sit back and wait for the perfect time to counter. Suggested Bet: Wolverhampton Win to Nil @ $3.55* Newcastle vs Watford A battle between two of the worst teams in the league as Newcastle (19th) hosts Watford (17th), a victory for Newcastle could see Watford slip into the relegation zone. The Magpies have not found a win in four straight matches and have had an abysmal defensive record during this time. Newcastle across these four fixtures conceded 12 goals while only scoring two, however youngster Allan Saint-Maximin was a standout and has a bright future. Watford have lost six straight matches in the Premier League and during this run have conceded a whopping 16 goals. With two teams with such poor defensive records, this makes for an extremely exciting match, Saint-Maximin is extremely quick and has great finishing ability around goal and these attributes were on full display when he scored an early goal against Manchester United in their last match. With both sides desperate for a win this match will open up, giving Saint-Maximin plenty of opportunity to run the fast break and add to his goal scoring tally. Suggested Bet: Allan Saint-Maximin to Score a Goal @ 3.30* *Odds correct as at 6pm, 14th January 2022. Market Market
