The Scout: EPL Matchday 14

Newcastle v West Ham
1st December, 11pm WST

What a turnaround for Newcastle! The first 10 matches of the season yielded a total of zero wins and relegation looked a foregone conclusion. They enter this weekend on the back of three game win streak, sitting respectably at 13th on the table.

West Ham spent big on transfers over the offseason but have failed to live up to expectations. The Hammers have only managed one win in their last six Premier League games and sit just below Newcastle in 14th spot.

West Ham have only won once in their last fourteen visits to St James Park and based on current form there’s no reason to suggest this is about to change.

Suggested Bet: Match Result Newcastle @ $2.45*

Southampton v Manchester United
2nd December, 1.30am WST

Southampton have not won a game since the start of September and as such find themselves third to last in the Premier League. It might be too early, but last week’s loss to Fulham could have been season defining.

Although United failed to score at home last week, they welcomed Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku back into the starting lineup. Some chemistry issues played out in the goalless outing but I expect them to be rectified come this weekend.

The Saints have just one win for the season, and with leading goal scorer Danny Ings unlikely to feature here, it’s hard to make any case for anything other than a United win.

Suggested Bet: Match Result Manchester United @ $1.84*

Liverpool v Everton
3rd December, 12:15am WST

Liverpool come into the Merseyside Derby as the clear favourite. They’re perched nicely in 2nd, just two points off Manchester City.

Everton have been the quiet achievers in the Premier League, finding themselves in 6th position on the table thanks largely to Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson and young Brazilian Richarilson.

The Anfield assignment is a tough one for any away side with Liverpool not tasting defeat for 25 consecutive League games (!) Their attacking prowess is well publicized, but since the signing of Dutch defender Virgil Van Dyik, Liverpool’s defense has become almost impregnable.

Everton have been playing well but Liverpool are the real deal, having conceded just one goal at home and just five for the entire season

Suggested Bet: Liverpool to Win to Nil @ $2.30*
