The Scout: A-League Week 16 Posted on February 25, 2022February 25, 2022 | Posted by The Scout Adelaide United vs Central Coast Mariners Adelaide United (4th) will be looking to get back to winning ways after a nightmare 4-1 loss to Macarthur FC last matchday. The Central Coast Mariners (11th) are having a terrible run of form and have now gone six A League matches without a win. Despite their most recent match resulting in a devastating loss, Adelaide have been in fantastic form and have only suffered two defeats in nine fixtures. This strong run has seen the Reds jump up the standings and solidify their spot in the playoffs. Things could not be going worse for Central Coast as they are in a massive slump with the biggest culprit being their leaky defense. The Mariners have conceded a whopping 14 goals in six matches and will simply be unable to stop any Adelaide attack. Suggested Bet: Adelaide United WIN @ $2.05* Perth Glory vs Western United Perth Glory (10th) have struggled this season and enter this match off the back of a 1-0 loss to Macarthur FC. Western United (1st) extend their unbeaten streak to six matches after beating Sydney FC 1-0 last matchday. Western United are flourishing under John Aloisi’s guidance which has started with a clear focus on the defensive end. Western boast the second-best defensive record in the competition conceding only 11 goals in 13 matches. To add to these impressive numbers, Aloisi’s men have kept seven clean sheets giving them a shutout rate of 54%. It’s been a poor start to the season for Perth and their biggest problem has been their lack of goal scoring threats. Despite bringing in Daniel Sturridge, the Glory are just not clicking upfront, and this will be a major concern against arguably the leagues best defensive side. Expect Western United to be far too organised down back as they look to continue securing the top spot. Suggested Bet: Western United WIN @ $2.08* Western Sydney Wanderers vs Wellington Phoenix Western Sydney Wanderers (9th) have dropped down the standings after back-to-back losses to the Newcastle Jets and league leaders Western United. Wellington Phoenix (7th) are on the rise and have turned their season around and are currently unbeaten in six fixtures. After an insane run of fixtures which saw Phoenix play four league matches in ten days, the New Zealand side have now been given a rest. With fresh legs Wellington will come into this match confident on building from their impressive turnaround. Defense has been a major concern for Western Sydney as they have conceded the equal most goals in the league (20) and will struggle against a Wellington side that has the firepower to score against anyone. Western Sydney have recorded only three wins this season and look set to be Wellingtons latest victim. Suggested Bet: Wellington Phoenix WIN @ $3.05* *Odds correct as at 9am, 25th February 2022.
