Shortte’s Handful for Cannington: 23 March Posted on March 23, 2016March 23, 2016 | Posted by David Shortte David Shortte’s Preview Race 3 No. 2 KRUGERRAND Smart young chaser who has been to the races on 13 occasions for a record of 9 wins and 3 placings. Is having his first try here on race night like all of these but recent wins at Mandurah over the 490 metres in best of night times of 27.26 and 27.28 show exactly how fast he is with a clear passage. A little bit of unknown with all of the tips given that it is opening night at the new Cannington but if he handles the new circuit will be awfully hard to beat. Race 4 No. 7 CHANNING Won the Young Stars final last year and resumes here after a 2 month break. Has been to the Meadows and Wentworth Park at his last two starts and you don’t take dogs across there for a holiday. Ran a scintillating 29.01 over the 509 metres at Northam at his most recent run in WA and they don’t go any quicker than that. Very talented and with a clear run will take a heap of stacking. The one to beat. Race 5 No. 4 Eisenhower Race 7 No. 1 Emma Ejay Minion Race 8 No. 1 TOPOLOGY Having just his fifth career start here but has shown himself to be well above average in his career to date with a Maiden win over the 490 metres at Mandurah in 27.51 and three straight placings in solid times. Comes up with the perfect draw here off the cherry and that could be the key to this race. Looks well placed.
