Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on October 8, 2024October 8, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STARWALKER ran home nicely behind subsequent C1 winner Royal Law over 1600m and then sat three wide throughout last start over 1685m when holding the rest of the field safely to run a brave second behind Rock In Wonder. Ready for the staying trip, lightly raced and gets Shaun O’Donnell on. FLASH OF DALLAS is yet to reproduce the run that saw her finish third in the WA Oaks behind Own The Queen. WHISTLING WARRIOR was doing a bit wrong last start but still made ground. WHAT SHOUT leads and rolls. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – STARWALKER WIN RACE 2 BOUSSAC has run into Our Mate Archie (now a C3 winner) and With Discretion (goes around favourite in Race 7, a C3) and now draws a gate to settle close handy to the speed and get every possible chance, however, he again runs into one outside the box in SAINTLY CULLITY who ran a fast finishing (and very green) third behind True Apostle and Blue Rocket in a 3 year old Plate and now carries the exact same weight in a maiden. HARD ROCKER and UNIVERSAL HOTNESS have both run well recently but don’t think either are quite at the same level. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SAINTLY CULLITY WIN RACE 3 YORGA PRIDE put the writing on the wall in her one Lark Hill trial over 950m when covering the ground impressively to beat Smart Energy by nearly 1.5L. It was a soft trial, it was an eye catching trial and from the barrier she’ll be able to land in a really prominent position over the top of the speed. This is a very good 3 year old NMW but she looks above average and can run a big race on debut. RALLY THE TROOPS had nothing go right on debut as a 2 year old and comes through the same trial as Yorga Pride. SPIRIT GUIDE ran third behind Hez Got The Safe and Pond Master on debut. CATCH CARTER can lead or box seat. Numbers: 11 – 6 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – YORGA PRIDE WIN RACE 4 PERFECT CHANT vs STORYVILLE with notable mentions to RAINLINE, PLAY DICE and HEZ GOT THE SAFE – this race belongs at opening day at Ascot! This is as strong a Class One as you’ll see over the next 6 months and it should prove a wonderful form reference going forward. Hard to tip past PERFECT CHANT who won a 3 year old Plate on debut and now ‘drops in grade’ into a C1 against the older horses. STORYVILLE can box seat and enjoy a beautiful tow into the race. RAINLINE is a Saturday 2 year old winner resuming off two soft trials. PLAY DICE is already a C1 winner (maiden DQ) and trialled super. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – PERFECT CHANT WIN RACE 5 RICHANCO looks a promising sprinter resuming. He won by 3L on debut, he beat Elbow Lounge at his second start (meets him 1kg better for beating him) and then he ran into subsequent Raconteur Stakes winner Brave Spirit and share filly Chollima in a Saturday 1400 to end his preparation. Recent trial he extended powerfully late once tested and looks too sharp for these. TON OF GRUNT is a fellow 4 year old resuming and while 1200m is on the short side he did trial up well. ELBOW LOUNGE got a confidence boosting win last start. BLEEKER STREET has had an interrupted start to his campaign. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – RICHANCO WIN RACE 6 TRIBAL RULER shocked them in a C1 when saluting at 100-1 after making a sustained mid-race move and then went straight into a C5 when holding his own behind Central Force. Gets out to a staying trip (broke his maiden over 2000), comes back into a C3, draws well and goes around eachway. Plenty to like. BERNBRAE has raced in higher grade at her last 18 starts. She isn’t racing as well as she was earlier in her campaign but can bounce back here. SOLDANELLE is already a C3 winner and while she’s a hard mare to follow she’s got the ability to put these away if she shows up. ALL VITAL is on trial at the staying trip. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – TRIBAL RULER EACHWAY RACE 7 BARTIME didn’t handle the dirt at Roebourne first-up, ran a cheeky race on the wrong part of the track second-up and then finished second to Royal Gap in a Westspeed Platinum mile before heading to Mt Magnet and again failing to handle dirt racing. Back to grass – tick, back to 1400m – tick, Lucy Fiore rides – tick and maps to get across into a commanding spot in running. Going to roll the dice. WITH DISCRETION looked really talented at trials and didn’t let his supporters down on debut with a strong win. He’s got a real X-Factor about him. RUNFORROB continues to hit the line. LONG GENES trialled twice without blinkers. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 13 – 1 Suggested Bet – BARTIME EACHWAY Market Market
