Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on March 30, 2021March 30, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RIPON FALLS probably cost himself the race last start when running around under pressure. Was a massive improvement first-up to second-up and looks an out and out staying type. Noted staying rider Mitch Pateman engaged, he gets his chance to give Brian Carey his first winner. ELLEVISTA comes from the same race and gets a 4kg weight swing with Laqdar Ramoly’s engagement. In these battling staying maidens, its swings like that which can change results. MINE DETECTOR comes up sharply in trip but has been racing very one paced. Might just be looking for the trip. THE SLUG is living up to her horrendous name. Likely to go round artificially short with Pike aboard. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – RIPON FALLS WIN RACE 2 OCEANIC RIDER made her debut against the older horses when running into emerging talent Kaptain Kaos. Ran well and finished second after leading them up and being collared half way down the straight. Kaptain Kaos has since been plunged in a C3 when victorious and Oceanic Rider’s last start was in a Listed 2 year old feature. Those in front of him (He’s Gold, Storm Whisper and Diamond Blue) all graduate to the Karrakatta Plate and he drops back into a maiden. AMELIA’S PICANTE was an impressive trial winner when tramping wide throughout and letting down strongly in the run to the post. Stable airborne. LUCIFER couldn’t match her in the final 100 of that Lark Hill trial but still impressed. MY FURY has been ridden very cold at trials. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – OCEANIC RIDER WIN RACE 3 AL QUEPONE showed glimpses in his initial campaign. On debut made late ground behind Billy Aint Silly and Empire Reign before sitting over the top of a solid tempo at his second race start and fading to run fourth. Recent trial was strong and this is a fairly even race he resumes in. ZAC LUVS TO FLY resumes first-up no trial and has promised to win a maiden. Can roll forward and either lead or hand up to the speedy Zarmella. STARLIFT has been hard in the market at all four career runs. Hasn’t done anything wrong but continues to run into one sharper than her. WAR WARRIOR should get the right run and has trialled up nicely. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – AL QUEPONE EACHWAY RACE 4 IMAGE KEEPER is a hard mare to line-up. On debut was a wild drifter in a Mt Barker maiden and ran accordingly, finishing 4.5L off the winner. Interestingly enough all 7 horses who finished in front of her are subsequent winners but still there’s a query on the exposed form. Recent trial was great when pushing talented Durrant youngster Material Witness. If she lets down like she did at Lark Hill she takes beating in this field. YOUDOYOU was well supported at her return to racing and enduring a tough run when tramping deep the trip. VENETIAN JEWEL finds a new home and the Michael Lane yard can improve them quickly. New stable, great combination, keep safe. YOYOS improves as they step out in trip. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – IMAGE KEEPER WIN RACE 5 DOUBLE SPICE has a tricky draw to overcome but if he can get across underneath Medellin then he should enjoy a nice run close handy to the speed. Winner first-up in style and since then has contested tougher races than this. All the form from his recent races is holding up: Bruce Almighty, Bombay Style, Wild Fusion, Pletto. Well placed back in grade and looks a chance in an even race. MINI WINNIE won with his eyes closed. That was the performance we’d been expecting for 12 months. Penny might have finally dropped. GIFTED WARRIOR is transferred to Dion Luciani and fingers crossed he gets in and out of the machine. Best is good enough. CONGREVE ROCKET is a talented 3 year old who should improve sharply at his second run for the new yard. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE SPICE WIN RACE 6 COME RIGHT BACK is lightly raced, super progressive and ready to go through the grades. Finished in the money at 10 of 14 and never finished further back than fifth in his life. Recent trial was quiet when allowed to settle in behind them and went to the line under a hold. From the draw he can park forward of midfield and keep main rivals within striking distance. Could be ready for a break out preparation. CHIEF ARCHER was a touch unlucky last start when momentarily held up turning for home. Goes well for Troy Turner. KAKADU can build quickly into a preparation and Ryan Hill back aboard means he is probably almost ready. FRIARS FANTASIA loves the BTC and chased hard last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – COME RIGHT BACK WIN RACE 7 APPLE SCHNAPPS was solid at her return to racing when resuming first-up no trial in a 3 year old 62+ at Ascot. Drops back into a C1 to take on the older horses and the way that Lindsey Smith’s yard are tracking he’ll take beating. Brad Rawiller has an incredibly good strike rate since returning from injury and he should go close to adding to it here. MISS ALIGNED does a lot wrong but if she can settle a pair or two closer from the gate can give it a shake at odds. MICHELLE MA BELLE and SOLARIZE are both tough on speed types who will have them running a fair way from home. Numbers: 4 – 13 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – APPLE SCHNAPPS WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5,8,9 1,3,4,7 1 2,4,6,9,10,13 Market Market
