Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on February 16, 2021February 16, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HOT MIX, HOT ZED, GUNMETAL GREY, NOBEL LAURENCE, TRADE WAR this clash is the best race of the day and wouldn’t look out of place in the metro area. Nice bunch of 3 year olds, worth following as a form reference. HOT MIX comes out of a 3 year old plate when hitting the line strongly after being hampered turning for home. Finished off behind Magical Dream and Devine Beast and should position up just in behind them in a race where they will fan along the cutaway. TRADE WAR went back on debut but showed gate speed at trials. Expect him to go well, brilliant debut performance. HOT ZED is hard to knock after two big wins and drawn perfectly. GUNMETAL GREY is drawn sticky. Does she go forward? Does she go back? Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HOT MIX WIN RACE 2 NATURAL AIRCHIEF is likely to have to burn early to cross from a wide gate but if he can get across without doing too much work then he is clearly knocking on the door. INN SESSION resumed down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra when beaten almost 5L in the finish. Wasn’t the worst effort and her two runs when last in work were strong. Worth following up. RISE HIGH was a nice trial and should get the right run from the draw. AGENT KENSINGTON is better than what she displayed last week. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – NATURAL AIRCHIEF EACHWAY RACE 3 ASTRO WARRIOR resumed first-up, no trial for Summer Dickson and from a wide gate went back. Travelled strongly throughout, never really saw daylight in the straight and was one who replay watchers will be following closely here. Senior rider on, drawn a far better gate and does have the speed to lead them up here without surprising. Could sneak under the guard of a few in early markets. ALLMAMONEY was an enormous debut after a highly impressive trial effort. From the gate she is likely to settle near last but she was letting down brilliantly at her only race start. RELIABLE STAR will hold a big % in the market being Cerise and White but does look like we’ll see her best at 1400 and beyond. COTCHIN had a few traffic issues on debut. Looks a type. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – ASTRO WARRIOR EACHWAY RACE 4 VANE TEMPEST will be all the rage in this C1 1100m. Trial winner by 9L, first-up victor by 2L over subsequent winner Spritely Star and then did everything wrong second-up when missing away, pulling Ryan Hill’s arms out and ultimately bringing about her own undoing. Last start she was thrown in the deep end when far from disgraced finishing within 1L of Black Type filly Kissonallforcheeks. Back to C1 grade, if she’s on her best behaviour she’ll go close. SKYDANCE rates well for this having won well first-up last preparation and then contested races in high grade than this. THE FINEST was a really nice trial in slick time sitting outside Saturday horse Inflation. UNCANNY TIMING comes from the same trial as Skydance and was doing his best late. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – VANE TEMPEST WIN RACE 5 UNIVERSAL PLEASURE is well placed by Stefan Vahala into this C3. Last start winner of a Westspeed Saturday race (58+) and now drops back into a 54+. Should again stroll to the top, or at least sit right over the speed, and while she is likely to be a better chaser in time, while she is going through the grades she can settle on speed and prove too classy. APPROACH is no slouch and if Universal Pleasure is suspect late at 1200m it is likely to be Approach who is gunning her down late. Loved the recent trial, love the race form and has become a new horse under Annie King. TREVELLO clearly has issues but finds a nice race to kick off his WA career. GREAT CHARADE re-joins Trevor Andrews after a successful Kalgoorlie season. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – UNIVERSAL PLEASURE WIN RACE 6 QUEEN TAKES KING will be a mare who likely divides opinion amongst punters having been scratched twice since her impressive first-up assignment. Has been nominated, accepted and scratched on a number of occasions throughout her career and yet still holds an imposing winning strike rate. Perfectly placed into a C3, drawn the inside gate with a cutaway on offer and gains the services of Chris Parnham. Hard not to side with her. SAFE TO MAKEUP has hit a purple patch of form and is rock hard fit. Gets back and concedes a head start to Queen Takes King but will build momentum from the 800. NOBLE KING had no luck last start when tramping four deep the trip. JOVELLA gets considerable weight relief and is in form. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – QUEEN TAKES KING WIN RACE 7 CHICLETT brings solid 3 year old form into this race against the older horses first-up. Won a 3 year old 0MWLY when last in work, beating home No Surrender (4x winner since) and talented Derby type Outback Jack. She then progressed to the Burgess Queen and Champion Fillies when far from disgraced in either on heavily rain affected tracks. Trialled up well, well weighted and well-drawn. BORN TO TRY really caught the eye at her Lindsey Smith debut. Smaller field suits and she has always promised to go through the grades. CAERHELAN reunites with Clint Johnston-Porter who seems to get the best out of her. FRIARS FANTASIA a sharp improver second-up and back at her favourite track. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CHICLETT WIN RACE 8 FASHION QUEEN was working through her gears nicely at the trials and she looks yet another progressive Cerise and White 3 year old taking on the older horses. At this time of year Grant & Alana Williams are bringing their Oaks fillies back into work and every time you see a filly taking on the older horses she could just be the next good one. Always a question of price for punters. SPEEDBIRD won at 100-1 last start but she trialled like she’ll be winning plenty more and early in the preparation. MINI WINNIE comes back to C1 company for the first time in 2 months and has been more than competitive in higher grade. BROADWAY GIRL is improving quickly into the prep. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – FASHION QUEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3 1,2,3,5,10 5,6,7 4,5,9 Market Market
