Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on December 14, 2021December 16, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 COLD SHIZZLE has come back a nice 3 year old this preparation. Won his maiden in style when getting the better of subsequent winner Beauty In Me late in the race and then backed it up against the older horses winning a C3 last week when hauling in consistent type Trevello. Backs up off 7 days, strikes a relatively even line-up and only a field of 5. Great chance to win again. FATALE FEMME has raced exclusively in Listed company this preparation. Only two starts ago in the Placid Ark finished third behind Flying Missile and Liwa who went on to quinella the Lee Steere Classic. LADY TORONADO looks like she’l amble across to either breeze or lead and looks progressive. MY DILEMMA won in this grade last start. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – COLD SHIZZLE WIN RACE 2 LUCKY SUE was a highly impressive trial under apprentice rider Kristy Bennett. Did a lot wrong, looked very raw and very green but skipped right away from them late in the trial to win by a margin. Senior rider on for her debut and has a barrier to work with. Big chance to open her career with a victory. UNION JACK ran last in the Crystal Slipper on debut. Those in front of him included dominant subsequent winner Revitup as well as very nice juveniles Man Crush, Left The Building and All The Kings Men. MRS KANGAROO was chasing a long way out on debut. Should only improve with the experience. SWIM THROUGH was hitting the line nicely at trials. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – LUCKY SUE WIN RACE 3 GO FORWARD was backed into odds on last start and was gunned down in the final strides by talented commodity Eeyore Wayz. Sat three deep the trip and had the rest of the field covered easily. Eeyore Wayz franked the form on Saturday with a luckless minor placing behind Island Charm and he should settle a pair in front of main danger Vadette De Star. From there he should be every chance. VADETTE DE STAR is extremely well placed by an inform Simon Miller stable. Apprentice Holly Watson takes over and in the small field she gets to showcase her ability on a ‘non-leader’. DIVINE PAIR has some great 3 year old form. Tricky map. NOBELIUM can bob up from time to time. Trial was slick. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – GO FORWARD WIN RACE 4 MAGIC TO EXCEED finished third first-up on Melbourne Cup day behind Sparkling Blue and Astrape. Followed it up with a second to subsequent 60+ Graduation winner Memorable Miss and then sat wide throughout working hard in the Lee Steere. Back in grade, drawn ideally, looks ready to win. BOURBON BEAU is knocking on the door. Has gone down narrow margins at his last two. Another perfect opportunity. SIMPLE LOGIC showed ability in his first preparation. Can win more than just a C1. HOT BLOODED was allowed to roll last Wednesday and only got tired in the last 100. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAGIC TO EXCEED WIN RACE 5 CHEVAL DE VAGA could not have been more impressive at his return to races for new trainer Meryl Hayley. Meryl has only had a handful of runners since returning and they have almost all run well and truly above market expectation. Cheval De Vaga and Melody’s Secret both surprised punters on return and if he can reproduce the effort he’ll no doubt be hard to beat again. YUNA MAILAN ran them into the ground last start. The overall time was 6L faster than C1 average. Never gave anything a chance to get comfortable in running. AIRLIE QUEEN looks the kind of mare who will grow a leg with a barrier and a soft run. Gets those conditions here. ENTICING just couldn’t get past Celtic Court last start. Query on the depth of the form. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHEVAL DE VAGA WIN RACE 6 CONSTANT DREAMING comes from an awfully slow race where they absolutely crawled until the corner. Given the conditions of the race (9L slower than maiden average) it was always going to be a tightly bunched finish and there was no way she could have won by any more than what she did. Going off the luckless debut run, the encouraging second-up win and the ability of close relations, all suggest she’ll take beating here and can go onto bigger and better things. KASONORI has had no real luck in two C3 runs since breaking maiden status. Sneaks back into a C1 but will need luck from the draw. COMEALILBITCLOSER got going in the last 100m of a 1400 7 days ago. Looks like getting a gun run. DYNAMIC FORCE wasn’t a bad run at all at his return to racing. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – CONSTANT DREAMING WIN RACE 7 DOWNFORCE looks to have found his race. Has been up for a long while now and has been knocking on the door with some teasingly good runs in higher grade. His most recent he was beaten a nose when backed from $9 into $6 in a Saturday 60+ Graduation. Comes back to a midweek special conditions race and from the draw Laqdar Ramoly should have him poised, ready to strike just forward of midfield with cover. Now or never for Downforce. FASHION QUEEN has done nothing wrong in her entire career. Honest effort last start, just not in the same class as Beat The Bro on his day. SUMMIT TRAIL went well fresh and drops down to a postage stamp 52kg. TRADE PRIZE can bounce back to form from a softer draw. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – DOWNFORCE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,31,2,3,4,5,6,72,3,72,5 Market Market
