Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 24, 2021August 24, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CELEVACCI trialled like a horse with ability and struck a lowly 3 year old maiden on debut. Got the better of them on a Heavy8 and should only improve on top of the ground and with the race experience under his belt. Every other horse in this field is a maiden so while he has to carry 60kg he looks well suited in the highly compressed weight scale where he only concedes 1kg to unraced stablemates. Gets his chance to go back to back. FEUDING was hitting the line nicely last week on a rain affected track. Quick back-up, up in trip and Darren McAuliffe’s yard is starting to tick along nicely. VIA MONTE has 2 and 3 year old Saturday form to his name but is up sharply in trip. I’M A DREAMER may have run into a nice one last week in Sparkling Jewel. Finished off well enough into third. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – CELEVACCI WIN RACE 2 SASSY TRADER is very well placed into this 0MWLY 1200 by Sean & Jake Casey. Has finished third in a 3 year old 62+ behind Kissonallforcheeks, second in a 60+ behind Agent Jay and run some luckless races in between from awkward gates. Was fresh going into the most recent when drawn wide on a Heavy10 in a 60+ 1000 behind Blazing Billy and subsequent 60+ winner Strathmore Rose. Looks a nice race for him to break back into the winner’s circle. PRINCE DEVOUTLY has been tested over further in recent assignments and has had to absorb some serious mid race pressure in a number of them. Shouldn’t have the same issue here. DAISHIO is one of the best opportunities yet for young apprentice Taj Dyson. Rail 18m, cutaway in play and a perfect sit, sprint style of mare. AGENT KENSINGTON has come back bigger and better this preparation. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – SASSY TRADER WIN RACE 3 SPARKLING BLUE makes her debut as a 3 year old filly in an all-age maiden which means she gets the luxurious 53.5kg on her back. The recent trial was strong when getting the job done in a 930m, but the previous trial when finishing fifth behind Prince Ragnar, Secret Deploy and Finest Clobber (beating home Defending) was just as encouraging. Looks another big chance of an Adam Durrant debutante winner. RESTFUL is a fellow 3 year old filly and will no doubt have some admirers. Drawn awkwardly but looks to have a motor and a turn of acceleration. FORTY NINER has been a wallet burner of recent times, however, they have all been on rain affected tracks. MAXIMUM IMPACT pushed Celevacci last start and that could prove hot form. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPARKLING BLUE WIN RACE 4 SALLY CAN WAIT was well supported at odds last Thursday in a race which looked to contain a seriously talented Cerise and White debutante Mystery Moment. Thinking that form will be very strong in maiden company over the next few weeks and Sally Can Wait matched motors with her the entire journey, in fact, while defeated 1 length into fourth ran an identical final 600m to the winner. Drawn better and looks hard to beat. HENCHARD is drawn an awkward gate for his debut but is certainly one the trial watchers have been waiting for after back to back Lark Hill trial wins, one of them over My Baby Blue Jean who looks a type. SIMPLE LOGIC was scratched from a Saturday race to save for this. Well placed, shades on, first dry track. Keep safe. THE SLUG comes from a very quiet trial and looked to be bolting late. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – SALLY CAN WAIT WIN RACE 5 DOUBLE SPICE is beautifully placed by SJ Miller back into a C3. Since winning a high rating C1 when beating Castillo Del Lago at Bunbury back in January he has been to 3x 58+ races, 1x C3, 1x 60+ and most recently a 66+ when running out of his skin to finish fourth beaten only 1L by Notorious One, Vital Blast and Giant Leap. Those behind him include genuine Saturday types like London Miss, Glamour Packed, Living The Dream, Skinnen Tins and Manhattan Money. Start prior finished third behind Secret Statue and subsequent C3 winner Time Scale. Looks his race with even luck. SCORPION STORMZ was thrown in the deep end first-up no trial into a 60+ 1000 when finishing hard behind Strathmore Rose and Bedouin Belle. Great return to racing and maps ideally from gate 3. JUSTHANDY can position up nicely. BLUE HORSE toyed with moderate opposition last start. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE SPICE WIN RACE 6 KATONA is produced first-up no trial by Bob Turrell into a high speed, high pressure 1000m race which could turn into a case of last man standing. Fish Hook with the 3kg claim will burn turf and Type Won will be tracking her every move ensuring there is no chance of a breather. While Katona is likely to be out the back chasing he has shown in every start in WA he needs the speed on to produce his best. Cutaway helps his cause and can get over them late with a clear run. TYPE WON backs up off 7 days after being plunged in betting last week. Had to breeze outside Eye of the Day and again here looks unlikely to find the front. FISH HOOK would be a brilliant Narrogin 930 mare but seems to get the wobbles late in her races. SOMETHINGREADY took the step from maiden into C3 last start and ran well. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – KATONA EACHWAY RACE 7 WHAT ABOUT MOI will be on the quick back up from Saturday to Wednesday if trainer Stefan Vahala elects to run and if he does start he looks to have found a winnable C3 coming back in grade. Was thrown into the Aquinita Stakes over 2000m before being given a months freshen when finishing third behind Allez Allez and Gunnago in a 0MWLY 60+ assignment. On Saturday he loomed into the race before fading out late. This is definitely an easier race. SPECIAL PICTURE has shown a big and sustained turn of foot at her last two. Ray Vincent is doing a great job with these tried horses and if she can reproduce on top of the ground she’ll take beating again. STOCKTAKA went close behind Al Mahalo in a race where they kicked well away from the rest. Al Mahalo was hard in the market in a Saturday race on the weekend. STRAWBERRY MIST went well two starts ago and can be forgiven for last start when never getting into it. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – WHAT ABOUT MOI WIN RACE 8 GENERAL GRANT was a big drifter first-up and ran accordingly when finishing a moderate sixth in a C1 1400m. Goes to the identical race again here, however, is drawn better to settle a pair closer in the run this time round and is likely to race on a Good4 rather than a Heavy8. Following up based on the handy trial win. LE GRAND RISQUE found some traffic issues last week and was a far better run than a 30-1 pop running sixth of eight. Has shown glimpses in a short career. GORGEOUS GOSSIP can cross to the top and comes from stronger form races than this in 2 year old and 3 year old company. OCEANZARA is another sit, sprinter drawn the cutaway for Taj Dyson. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 13 – 9 Suggested Bet – GENERAL GRANT WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3 1,3,4,5 1,3,4,5,10,11 2,3,7,9,10,13 Market Market
