Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 3, 2021August 3, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TIME SCALE has been racing well without winning in mainly stronger races than this. Simon Miller has been testing her out over different distances and brings the hard going mare back to 1000. Drawn gate 1, speed drawn outside her with Poker Face and Janaura likely to come out running and with a cutaway in play she gets her chance. Her form around Hot Zed and Brooklyn Pier from May/June stands out. SOMETHINGREADY is coming from a maiden straight into a C3 but gets an identical run to last start when saluting. POKER FACE has won three in a row and will be looking to cross them early. If she doesn’t find the fence she may be vulnerable late. SMASHING isn’t going at the minute. Could be an improver if the track has dried out. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – TIME SCALE WIN RACE 2 HE’S A SIZZLER was rocketing to the line first-up after getting a long way back in the field and finding himself in an awkward position turning for home. Once Parnham got him out and around State of Power he accelerated past that handy filly and was pulling ground off The Front Bar rapidly. Steps out in distance and can be ridden patiently in the small field with a cutaway to spread them open turning for home. Looks a nice type in the making. AMERICAN TROOP doesn’t step all that well so it may be three back the fence for him but when the gaps appear he’ll be coming home hard. Improved run to run and looks the danger. MAHALEO has shown glimpses at trials and Pike jumps aboard on debut. SAVVY DAZZLER likewise has trialled up well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – HE’S A SIZZLER WIN RACE 3 HEAVENLY MISS made her debut off a 400m jump out and was solid when finishing third behind State of Power and Via Monte. Those two have both run placings subsequently and further back in the field was dominant midweek winner Wuhan Warrior. Looks stronger form than most rivals bring to the race and she even drops 1kg into an all-age maiden. Should get across safely to sit on top of the speed and give a real sight. SONGS AND LYRICS looked to be making good ground under little pressure up the inside in the most recent trial. Cutaway on offer. THE INVISIBLE MAN made his debut a few months between trials and showed that he won’t be a maiden for very long. MASARU was off the track and making ground at her debut. Drawn awkwardly again however. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – HEAVENLY MISS WIN RACE 4 WISE CRACKER looks to be thriving on the wet tracks. Good thing beat two starts ago when finding traffic until the race was over and then was a big winner when weaving through late at her most recent. Getting better and better with racing and has now shown some versatility to her racing. Stable in form, hoop in form and drawn to get every chance. VERDANDI has been knocking on the door all campaign and in her seven outings has run five minor placings. Drops down to the lowest weight she has carried all campaign, drawn a gate and likely to position close handy with cover she looms as one of the horses to beat. PRECAUTIONARY has promised to win another race for 6 months. Continues to find one or two better than her. TOWN HALL wasn’t horrible first-up in a far stronger race than this. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – WISE CRACKER WIN RACE 5 STARLIFT was a serious handful for young apprentice Jett Stanley last start and everything that could go wrong for him did go wrong. She started to lay out from the 800, took the corner wide and wobbling and then just after finally straightening and balancing her Jett dropped his rein. Has featured in the stewards report a lot through her short career and now William Pike takes over. If he can get her to do everything right, she looks hard to hold out. DREAM EVIL should be tucked away just inside of her throughout running and she has come back to racing well this preparation. JUSTHANDY has been freshened and the run two starts ago behind Written Matter, Dad’s Bigheaded and Elafella was excellent. DOMINEER drops back to C1 company for the first time in the campaign. Going well, keep safe. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – STARLIFT WIN RACE 6 MISS ZEDEL returned with Cardiac Arrhythmia last start in a complete forgive effort. Went around a $4.20 chance in that race which also contained Conquered Zone ($3.90) and Next Stop The Moon ($10). Worth forgiving and forgetting she went around and from the draw Clint Johnston-Porter can have her tracking up in behind the speed waiting for the runs to present. Previous form was strong enough to be highly competitive. NEXT STOP THE MOON in that race was taken on and attacked from 600 and did a super job to go down fighting in the finish. CONQUERED ZONE was the beneficiary of the way the race was run and the patience of W.Pike. PRETTY FRIAR looks an improver back in distance and on a slightly drier surface. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – MISS ZEDEL EACHWAY RACE 7 GUNNAGO has raced in exclusively higher grade over the last 12 months and has dropped back down to both a suitable grade and a suitable handicap rating. Only three starts ago finished second to Tinsnip in a 66+ and Shaun O’Donnell rides these types of horse extremely well. BOLLINGER BOY has been a hard horse to follow with confidence throughout his career. Always does his racing from the back half of the field and is always vulnerable to race pattern, track pattern and bad luck. Was spinning the wheels last start on the Heavy8 and now with Pike jumping on he gets his chance in an open 1700m 60+. SUPER TEROITOA will take luck out of the equation and lead them up for a long portion of the race. WHAT ABOUT MOI has a nice turn of acceleration. Capable of winning better races than this. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – GUNNAGO EACHWAY RACE 8 ELAFELLA won impressively four starts ago with a set of blinkers on. At the following start they were removed and he hasn’t quite looked the same horse since. Blinkers back on, Pike back on and dropping sharply in trip from 2100 back to 1400m. Likely to divide opinions and interesting to see what the market does with him. CALL AGAIN trialled the house down in slick time over 950. Always shown ability and hopefully starting to put it all together. ROSSO TEMPESTA was unsighted last start. First-up run was excellent in a race which has held up as a form reference. SKY FIVE won well first-up last campaign on a soggy track. Brett Pope looks to repeat the dose. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – ELAFELLA WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,9 2,3,7,8 1,2,3,5,7 1,4,8 Market Market
