Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 4, 2020August 5, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 UNIBELLE was beaten out of sight last start but her previous effort was third behind talented duo La Vina and Beat the Bro. In that race she beat home four horses who have won races and now back into maiden company looks to have struck a winnable race. Should nearly see double figures and she can give this a shake. GREAT WATERS returns first-up no trial and ran some luckless but impressive races in his first campaign. TRADE MASTER did it tough last week and did a super job to stick on. Getting close. YAMATAI trailed well and draws a soft gate. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – UNIBELLE EACHWAY Race 2 CHAMPAGNE DIVA was a big improver first-up to second-up when ridden for speed from an inside draw. Ran second past the post but was then protested against and relegated back to third. That should prove reasonable form for a midweeker and she can box seat and utilize the cutaway. SHOCK RESULT likely crosses and finds the top. Was well supported last start when narrowly missing and this looks a weaker race. DENIM WARS put the writing on the wall on debut and really caught the eye. Likely to settle rearward but Danny Morton’s youngsters are going super at the minute. MISS VOODOO trialed like a filly who would be winning races early in her career. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – CHAMPAGNE DIVA EACHWAY Race 3 TREAT YO SELF looks ready to peak and from the draw should have no excuses. These midweek staying events, especially C1s, are won by the horse who gets the favours and from the draw Madi Derrick should have her leader’s back waiting for the soft runs to appear. AMERICAN SOUL couldn’t have done any more at his last two and yet still got rolled. If there is a horse who deserves to win one it’s him but he likely settles last and has to sustain a run. GALIBA steps up sharply in trip but brings the alternate form references. ALBY’S PRIDE could be suited to cutaway racing. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – TREAT YO SELF WIN Race 4 WINE NIGHT you either forgive for last start and she’s awfully hard to beat and deserving of short price favoritism, or you don’t forgive her and happily take her on. I’m on the forgive side of the fence but without a deal of confidence. Didn’t seem to handle track conditions last start and if Belmont is a true Soft6 she could be vulnerable. Hard to argue with her race form, it is simply superior to rivals. Risk vs Reward kind of betting race. ANNIHILATOR can box seat with the cutaway in play and also had strong 3 year old form. LEADING MAN may track Annihilator or Wine Night from midfield and has been hitting the line. HE’S A GUNSLINGER is versatile and proven in this grade. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – WINE NIGHT WIN Race 5 OHBEEH should again find the front and that’s the key to his racing. Was a dominant winner in C1 company last start and there is no reason he can’t continue on his merry way through the grades. Looks new and raw and the kind of horse who should improve at every outing. THE ITALIAN JOB was in the same race as Ohbeeh behind Paris Report on July 1 and there wasn’t a great deal between them. PURE MAGNUS can’t string races together but definitely has a sufficient turn of acceleration to make things interesting late. TRILLY FILLY looks well placed in this race but the dreaded bars go on. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – OHBEEH WIN Race 6 GIANT LEAP steps up sharply in trip and is a C1 taking on C3 opposition but looks to have a lot more upside than rivals. Was beaten first-up by Beat the Bro who has made the form look reasonably good since, won soft in a moderate maiden two starts ago and then was thrown in the deep end at his most recent behind Captain Kink, Tiff Has Spoke and Levitate. Should prove hard to hold out late. PERCEPTIVE MISS certainly doesn’t win out of turn but this is a very winnable race for her. Likely to settle back which may be against the pattern but has been going well. STELLA ANNE can box seat and take the cutaway run. HOOLAHOOPS has no weight and a soft draw. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – GIANT LEAP WIN Race 7 SHOWZALI has been thereabouts without winning all preparation. Finished second to Paris Report two starts ago beating home Ohbeeh and then the form from her last outing really jumps off the page at you when fourth behind Dark Mission, Lil Red Bikini and Pletto. Drops back from C3 into C1 and even drops 1kg on that run with Madi Derrick going on. Repeats last start’s effort and goes very close. DUSTYPARK backs up, draws the cutaway and has in-form senior rider going on. WARBLER broke his maiden last start but a bit of a query around the form out of that race. MING XING has been hitting the line well. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – SHOWZALI WIN Race 8 SANTIAGO GAL won this track and distance for Madi Derrick two starts ago in a very similar grade of race to this. Last time out was off the track throughout in a hot form race (Long Beach, Silkinize, Danny George, Why Choose Her, Shinju) and could end up as close in as gate 3 depending on scratchings. Should enjoy the run of the race and at double figures looks attractive. STABLE SECRET comes from the same 66+ behind Long Beach and much like Santiago Gal is likely to get a gun run throughout. WEAPONSON has a senior on for the first time in the preparation and both runs in have been strong. SUPER EX brings intrigue but hasn’t won since Luke Fernie weighed double figures. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SANTIAGO GAL EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4,7,8 3,7,8,9,10 6,7 1,3,4,6,10,(11,13) Market Market
