Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 26, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 THE NICCONIAN does look perfectly placed back in grade and with the luxurious 2kg claim of WA’s best apprentice he should go close to notching his second win. Has the speed to sit outside Krypto Kid and put him to the sword at the 150. STATE ATTORNEY has been a tough follow for those who worship the Cerise and White favorites brigade, however, this is the perfect opportunity for him to win another. SATURIA has been missing the kick and ruining her winning chances in the first 100m. SCALPEL is an unknown first-up no trial for a new stable. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – THE NICCONIAN WIN Race 2 MORNING SONG was caught in an awkward position in running and made steady ground against the fence on a day where most of the winners were winding up three deep. Step up in trip looks ideal and this maiden is weak. FAIR JOY sits right on the speed and could even lead, however, the fence is unlikely to be the best going. MAGIC EMPIRE will be winding up wide on the track and with the rail at 15m should get his chance. CASLAVSKA was strong first-up and a shade disappointing second-up. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – MORNING SONG WIN Race 3 MEKONG DEN was forced into an unfamiliar role of pace-maker last start when caught deep early. If Kate Witten can find cover forwards of midfield she does look hard to beat. Always shown ability and has run two big races this preparation. LADY SASS has the best race form, True Defender is a nice type and there is already a subsequent winner from the form. She has been scratched at least three times since which is concerning. PADDY O’FURNITURE has put together two impressive runs. MAHUIKA is a quirky type but trials show that there is ability there. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – MEKONG DEN WIN Race 4 ABELDANE has competed in four consecutive above average staying races and drops back into a class 1 event. The big key to his winning chances will be the first 100m. Doesn’t jump that brilliantly and if he gets crossed it could be the end for him. BRISTOL ROAD looked home last start but fell late to progressive 3 year old stayer Axel ‘R’ Eight. That form could be strong. KELLY’S SECRET is on test at the trip but should enjoy a soft run and will find this a lot easier than last start. NAVY BLUE is not drawn ideally against the fence, looks like he needs breathing room. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ABELDANE EACHWAY Race 5 SANTIAGO GAL is a quality sprinter on her day and drawn gate 7 could well be blessing in disguise. Has won races three deep no cover the trip and for a mare who can pull and do things wrong she may end up in the best part of the track. BETA DUGUID resumes off 1229 days as a 9 year old. Trialed like a bomb but things change under race pressure. LA BIONDA was a big run last start, just worried about the price on offer for a get back mare. GLIMMER GIRL blinkers back on and ridden cold is best for her. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – SANTIAGO GAL WIN Race 6 DRIFTSTAR is all. He could well be something special but the jury will certainly be out in force at Belmont Park. He seems the type who will win with his eyes closed by a space or really turn it up. At the $1.30ish he is likely to jump, watch this space. EMERALD ROSE was stiffer than Angus Brayshaw not getting an invite to the Brownlow in her first preparation. Found lots of traffic on multiple occasions. METRO BOY will find this easier than the quality Saturday field he met last start. WARZACHANTZ looks better suited at 1000m, jump and run. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – EMERALD ROSE PLACE Race 7 RACY AVA was a strong return to racing and drawn a gate where she can sit midfield and wind up late. Think she will make a handy miler-staying mare in the future and can win better races than this. PRINCESS TARA got the better of her last start but is drawn awkwardly here. SUPREME FORCE will have plenty of support, especially with Tayla Stone jumping aboard. GOODLUCK SIMBA was never in the race last start in far tougher grade, can bounce back. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – RACY AVA WIN Race 8 DISTANT TRILOGY has always shown a bit of X-Factor in his racing and his first-up effort in a Saturday graduation was strong enough to win this. Drawn a perfect gate he should get every chance. DAINTY PAT was making good ground in probably the worst going last start and if Noske can get a tow into the race she’ll go close. MISS UNFORGETTABLE ran a forgettable race last start, she should be going better here. SNITZATUNE can run a cheeky race fresh. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 15 – 3 Suggested Bet – DISTANT TRILOGY EACHWAY Quad (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,5,6,7,8 1 2,5,10,11 1,2,3,13,14,15 Market Market
