Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on April 2, 2024April 2, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SIMPLY THINKIN’ has a short, sharp burst of speed which can see her dangerous from off the back of a very moderate tempo. The way she won first-up suggested she’s more than capable of working through her grades. Expect this will turn into a messy sit and sprint and hoping that CJP will get on his bike from the 600. Nice filly. STYLISH LORD was caught flat footed when the sprint went on last start in a Saturday 1400 behind Influencing. Steven Parnham might just opt to take it up here. NEW MUSIC rises up to 60kg after a moderate first-up performance. CABLE ROCK won’t be a maiden much longer. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SIMPLY THINKIN’ WIN RACE 2 SNIP’S ROCK has put the writing on the wall at her last few outings for Petra Kobzova. ZJP rides at 52.5kg and this mare has been screaming out for 1600m. She was jumping out of the ground late behind Imperialize and went straight past a handy filly in Run Pattie Run in the process. Ready to win again. CANGUU can roll straight to the top for Madi Derrick and control the tempo. Dylan Bairstow has produced a lot of winners from a small number of runners over recent weeks and this 3 year old is trying very hard. WOZZECK can sit three back the fence and wait for the cutaway. ALLEGRO SONATA kept coming when nailing Bring The Bling in the final stride. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – SNIP’S ROCK WIN RACE 3 DANCE BOSS is a lightly raced 3 year old who has a really nice turn of foot when saved up for a run. Looks your ideal cutaway type who can park behind the tempo and then look to shoot up the inside over the concluding stages. Not much between Dance Boss / Forever Classic / She’s Imminent here. FOREVER CLASSIC returned to her best form last start with an emphatic 2.7L victory. Really powered away from them late. SHE’S IMMINENT trialled soft and she’s got point to point speed to put herself into the mix. CAPRE OMNIA was a nice WA debut. Tricky draw here. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – DANCE BOSS WIN RACE 4 SOWAR picks himself off recent form since joining Mitchell Pateman. Has had three runs for the stable (all in 66+ grade) and has finished in the money at each of them. Drops sharply in grade, still only carries 54.5kg after the claim of ZJP and on the 4-day back-up he’s going to be very popular in Leg 6 of the National Apprentice Race Series. Weakest race he has seen in a long while. CABLE GUY won first-up no trial over 1600m in this grade ridden by Luke Campbell off 132 days back at Belmont last preparation. Looks a near identical set up for him here. Keep safe. GOLD MERITS continues to get back and chase hard. ARNRAY can roll to the top and control. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – SOWAR WIN RACE 5 SCENERY is a 17-start maiden – so we head into this event without a great deal of confidence, however, he should have gone much closer last start behind Westcoast Express and Cable Rock in a maiden which looks like it will hold up as a form reference. He was chopped out over the concluding stages and was finishing off quite well. One of many chances. MISS WALL STREET made good ground in a Saturday 3 year old event last start. She drops back into a maiden and can sustain a run. ENDLESS JOY was doing her best work late last start and prior to that was racing without luck. HARLEQUIN PRANCER beat her home narrowly in the same event. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – SCENERY EACHWAY RACE 6 CHOIXWAY finds himself back in Class One company for the first time in his career. Since winning on debut he has contested 3x 2/3yo 0MWLY and 2x 60+ Graduations and now gets out to what looks a suitable distance. Luke Campbell should be able to work his way to the front and from there he can kick hard into the corner. Nice race for him. CRIMMO is double accepted for Wednesday and Thursday. Could be a key scratching if they elect to go to Pinjarra instead. Like Capre Omnia, nice WA debut. WESTCOAST EXPRESS let rip on debut and scored an impressive win. He’s got upside. MAJOR MARIO lands in an ideal spot. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – CHOIXWAY WIN RACE 7 TRULY AWESOME looks to have found a very winnable assignment. Last start was her best run of the preparation behind Simply Thinkin’ who goes round in a 3 year old 0MWLY in Race 1 and should run well. She’s found a race with only moderate speed and talent and Brad Parnham should have her positioned right up over the speed giving her every chance to break through. CHERRY CAN RUN is 0 from 18 on Good4 surfaces but her recent runs suggest she’s still a live chance with the right run in transit. ALBRIGHT gets some weight relief and a drop in grade. PROFIT POCKET got the job done first-up but in a lowly Esperance maiden. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – TRULY AWESOME WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3 1,4,8,9,10 3,4,5 5,6 Market Market
