Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on February 22, 2022February 23, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLACK FANTASY was a flashing light run in the 3 year old Pinjarra Magic Millions. That feature event has already turned into a great winner producing race with Spin The Knife and Yeman Lass both saluting for the LK Fernie stable and Pixie Chix finishing second behind Spin The Knife. BLACK FANTASY looks even better suited at 1400m and is a versatile type. Looks hard to beat. ROKANORI will have plenty of admirers after an authoritative win on debut. Was able to control the race from the breeze in a slowly run affair (4L slower than maiden average) but gives the indication he’s going to mature into a nice animal. CELEVACCI went well first-up and should only improve. CURRIMUNDI next best. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – BLACK FANTASY WIN RACE 2 MERCURIUS was stepping from 1300m to 1650m last Wednesday and did a great job when battling on behind Sessions Peak and Rig A Dig. That should give him a great platform from which to launch an assault on this 1600m maiden on the quick back-up. Drawn to get a gun run and should be there in the finish. FEAR THE WIND got going late in his fresh assignment. Love the way he hit the line and given his previous campaigns he’ll only get better with the extra furlong here. MULTINOVA MAN ran into a pretty handy maiden last start in American Troop. Nothing wrong with finishing second to him as a form reference. TRUE MOON ran a pretty similar L600 to Fear The Wind first-up. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – MERCURIUS WIN RACE 3 OUTSPOKEN LAD comes from the 3 year Pinjarra Magic Millions just like stablemate Black Fantasy does in the opening event. We’ll get another sighter into the strength of that form line and thought that Outspoken Lad was starting to get warm late in the race. They were simply too sharp for him over 1200m and he gets straight out to a mile and right back into a C1. Excellent placement. ROMMELS JEUNEY has only put in one below par performance this preparation and that was on a swooper’s program when leading and fading. Runs either side have been huge and he can lead and dictate again. PICCOLA SIGNORA is going better than numerical form suggests and if they’re making their runs down the centre on Wednesday it really enhances her chances. NOBEL KNIGHT has been competitive in Saturday racing recently. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – OUTSPOKEN LAD WIN RACE 4 SIMPLE LOGIC was well supported first-up and simply went too hard for his own good out in front. Since then he has been to a 1400m 3 year old 0MWLY when only 2.75L off Hear Me Sing (second to Trix Of The Trade in the Challenge Stakes) and then to a 3 year old Plate when chasing round Spin The Knife, Via Monte and Pixie Chix. Wide draw is the unknown but the ability is certainly there. FINAL AUTHORITY looks a really nice sprinting type for Adam Durrant. Didn’t handle the Pinjarra straight and then put on an exhibition at Albany. LOVE DRUNK BABY won well first-up last campaign and was a strong trial. KATONA is hard to catch but on his day he has a big turn of foot. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SIMPLE LOGIC EACHWAY RACE 5 FEELS DANISH might just be headed towards a Natasha Stakes and a WA Oaks in a few weeks time. She doesn’t have the class of many of the Saturday 3 year old types but she’s tough and she’s showing genuine staying potential at the minute. In a year where there’s been no standout fillies Holly Taylor might be getting excited. Perfectly drawn, drops 3kg and Troy Turner unstoppable. Nice race for her. ROCH LEGACY did it tough for a large portion of the race at Geraldton last start and went down fighting. Hard to ignore the way he dug in late. DAD’S BIGHEADED ran well at Pinjarra last start and will benefit from the outing over a journey. CHOOSE FREEDOM is a bit hit and miss but he rates up well for this C3. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – FEELS DANISH WIN RACE 6 KARLI’S KARMA looks a standout in this race. First-up C3 winner under Shaun O’Donnell when showing a sharp turn of acceleration to beat Star Present and Pink Carats (60+ and 66+ winner since). No luck two starts ago when wide and working throughout and then was well found in the Pearl Classic at Pinjarra Park at 66+ grade. Drops back to a midweeker, reunites with Shaun O’Donnell and with the rail out and the cutaway in play she’ll get her chance to sit back and unleash late. BEAU ZOOM is now a long time C1 galloper. Burst onto the scene in WA but yet to reproduce since. JAY DEE fought on bravely out of her weight division last start. WEAPON OF CHOICE is going super for the new yard. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – KARLI’S KARMA WIN RACE 7 NATIVE CHIMES is a free rolling front runner. They are the animals who can win against the ‘pattern’ when rail goes out. When it’s out 15m and beyond the slower you go the more you bring the swoopers into it. Thinking that allowed to jump and run she can pinch this on the corner. Interesting statistic: Holly Watson in races run faster than benchmark, last 90 days, 64 rides for 11 winners. Looks like another big chance here. TIME SCALE was woeful last start. Seems an aggressive adjective but she didn’t show anywhere near what she’s capable of. Taking her on trust. LEICA JAGUAR turned the clock back 12 months at his last start and looked back to somewhere near his best. ALIEN FROM MARS is a get back run on mare. If the conditions are suiting three deep cover, then she’s a big chance. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – NATIVE CHIMES WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,6,7 2,4,5,8,9 2 1,2,3,5,6,7 Market Market
