Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on January 25, 2021January 26, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS is double nominated for Bunbury Australia Day and Ascot Wednesday. Kieran McDonagh might be Irish in heritage but surely he wouldn’t miss a drinking holiday like Australia Day to take one to Bunbury? Regardless of which way Freedomofthepress goes he’ll be worth following because his debut run down the tricky 1000m straight at Pinjarra really caught the eye. Steps up in trip, draws a gate and Jade McNaught rides the rail out particularly well at Ascot. ELAFELLA is another who didn’t fire a shot down the straight. Blinkers on, Harvey on, could see a completely different horse. GINGER MACK comes from the Fiery Bay maiden which has produced two country winners already. Had plenty of chances but going well. POWERFUL FORCE has blinkers on for the first time and has been hard in the market at each start this campaign. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – FREEDOMOFTHEPRESS WIN RACE 2 OLDEN ran third in a Saturday 3 year old mile two starts ago behind La Farola and Tambora. Backed up off 7 days and dropped back sharply in trip into what looked a completely unsuitable Saturday 1200. Raced wide throughout and actually attacked the line hard. Back to maiden company he picks himself. SURF POINT was jumping out of the ground late last start. Form only looks fair after Trisuem was beaten favourite on Saturday but he should get the right run. KING ROAD trialled impressively behind Seven Kingdoms. Big sighter into that trial form on Tuesday. MINI COAT has been hitting the line well and looks about ready. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – OLDEN WIN RACE 3 REVEUSE is a 31 start C1 and somehow this is about the weakest C1 that he has seen. Very thin race and he gets one last chance. Gets weight off with Keshaw Dhurun’s 3kg claim and Stef Vahala has produced a few winners in the last month (Universal Pleasure x2 & What About Moi). Here’s hoping the form continues. FINAL CHILL hit the line well first-up at 1400 and really looked to have come back well. PORT BEACH drops out of a 3 year old set weights and penalties race back into a lowly midweek C1. DATALKA should fire straight to the top and give them something to catch. Just query rail 14m for those drawn inside. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – REVEUSE WIN RACE 4 LORDING resumes first-up no trial with blinkers on first time. Split River Beau and Platinum Bullet in a 3yo 0MWLY on Good Friday last year before again running a narrow second to River Beau, with 4x Saturday winner Captain Kink in third. Reproduces either of those two runs and he is awfully hard to beat, even from three deep outside the lead. BOSNIPP won well down the 1000m straight and with the confidence can start to put a few together. Was a slow burn after she burst onto the scene running Cliffs of Comfort into the ground at trials. HOT TECHNIQUE may need to sit deep from an awkward draw. ROCK THE PLANET is super quick and always a sneaky chance. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – LORDING WIN RACE 5 BOMBARDMENT was brilliantly placed by Neville Parnham last start when dropping from a C5 behind My Fair Balentine and Brutus Maximus into a lowly 46+. Looked a moral, backed accordingly and won with his eyes closed. This is not an overly deep C3 and from the draw Chris Parnham can have him wherever he wants in the run. Can go back to back. INDOMINUS was huge behind Mexi Cola, impressive from an unsuitable position behind Solaia and then unlike Bombardment last start looked a moral, backed accordingly and didn’t fire a solitary shot. Looking to bounce back. LAYLO is going super for Kellie Grantham and will roll at some stage. CHAMPAGNE GAL has come back well. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – BOMBARDMENT WIN RACE 6 JAGUAR GREY looks the kind of horse who should be suited to racing with the rail at 14m where the winners typically wind up three deep with cover. Strong first-up winner for a new stable and then was thrown in the deep end when dropping back to 1000m in a Westspeed 58+ Saturday race. Back to C3 suits, up to 1200m suits and the wide gate may just be a blessing in disguise. SHAPE SHIFTER comes from the same race and beat Jaguar Grey home. Interesting to see how they elect to ride her from the gate. INDIGO WILD was sent forward last start and worked way too hard. Previous form was sound. KEEPER’S TALE has no numerical form but most of her wins are with rail out. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – JAGUAR GREY WIN RACE 7 CELTIC DIVA looks a class above rivals in the last. Three starts ago in a high rating 66+ finished within 4L of Adornment and Midnight Blue who progressed to the Perth Cup, British Bessy who then ran out of her skin behind Neufbosc in the ATA Stakes. Loomed the winner last start and went down narrowly. Drops back into the weakest race she has seen in the preparation and is now firing on all cylinders. PROXY comes out of a 58+ at Geraldton and once he finds form he typically holds it. Can measure up in a race like this. BOLD SUCCESS isn’t known as a stayer but went better last Wednesday than it reads on paper. CONQUERED ZONE should be afforded every mortal hope from the draw. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – CELTIC DIVA WIN Quad (R4 – R7) 1,3,5,62,5,74,5,62 Market Market
