Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on November 17, 2020November 17, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAID NO ONE EVER was thrown in the deep end last start in a bizarre move by trainer Danny Morton. We doubted, the market doubted and Danny almost walked out behind the bobcat full of cash as the 90-1 pop loomed half way down the straight. Ran out of his skin as a maiden in a 60+. Big question whether or not he can reproduce that clear peak performance but if he does he’ll take serious beating. FORTY NINER looks a real talent for Felicity Forbes-Ives. The two runs in his career have both been enormous from impossible positions. With any luck he’ll go close. SPECIAL PICTURE made Temptacion earn the win at York and they were miles better than the rest. DOOWAHDIDDY will need a peach from Pateman but is racing well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – SAID NO ONE EVER WIN RACE 2 NO SURRENDER is looking to win his third race in as many weeks having scored in a maiden on Melbourne Cup Day and then in this exact grade, with this weight only 7 days ago. Steps to 1400m, gets another soft track and should nearly able to the top. Pateman controls the tempo and the race and he looks well placed to salute again. TOWN HALL beat a couple of nice types first-up and expecting the form to hold up. Always looked to have ability. TRADEM IN was plunged on debut and won with his eyes closed. Was a very weak maiden but he did it in style. JEDI MIND blew the start on debut but powered home late to catch the eye. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – NO SURRENDER WIN RACE 3 ANGELIC MISS was eye catching behind Solaia in a high rating C1 event two starts ago. The run may have been a touch exaggerated as she did get to the right part of the track in the home straight. Plenty of good judges were declaring her last start in a 60+ and she got way out of her ground and then had trouble securing a clear run at them. Different story with Chris Parnham on and the cutaway in play. She should get the job done. INDOMINUS looms as the big danger, especially drawn in gate 1. He can box seat and has a stack of ability. Would love a market situation where you could save on him. PLAYING RED can be forgiven with the senior going back on. JAKESTAR only knows one way. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – ANGELIC MISS WIN RACE 4 PRECAUTIONARY drops out of the Burgess Queen Stakes into a C1. Extremely good placement by Fred Kersley and after the claim for Beaux Edwards gets in with a mere 55kg. This is a filly who won a Saturday 3 year old set weights and penalties race and now takes on horses who have had their fair share of opportunities. Leads or box seats and should prove too classy. BON ODYSSEY has always shown glimpse and was strong last start in what should prove a handy form reference race. ELLIENPINK chased hard first-up. GHOST WHO WALKS belted moderate maiden opposition last week. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – PRECAUTIONARY WIN RACE 5 COCKYJOY is well suited to C3 company. She was competitive at Belmont in far tougher races than this including a third in a 66+ behind We’ve Got Dreams and Badge of Courage before running Devoted Star and Silkinize to less than 2L. Kept at the 1000 she can take up the box seat from the gate and wait for the cutaway runs to present themselves. DEW WEST was an eye catcher first-up in a Saturday Graduation. This is an easier race and she should thrive with Pateman on her back. NOBELIUM is knocking on the door and will pinch a C3 soon. SHAKLETON hasn’t race with any luck this preparation. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – COCKYJOY EACHWAY RACE 6 PASARAN drops in grade from a C3 back to a C1, comes back from 1800 to 1600, reunites with Mitchell Pateman, has blinkers on for the first time and didn’t seem to handle the deteriorating soft7 conditions on Melbourne Cup Day. This is a pretty thin race and he looks one of the few winning chances. LORD LONSDALE was bitterly disappointing last start when failing to give any sort of kick. Kieran McDonagh makes a myriad of gear changes and engages a noted front running apprentice. SAFE TO MAKEUP backs up for the first time since joining JT Warwick. His quick back-up trick works more often than not. DYNAMIC FORCE an improver. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – PASARAN WIN RACE 7 ARAGAIN is deep into the preparation but continues to race well and if there is some residual juice in the track she’ll really appreciate it having gone through the grades impressively throughout winter since joining Chris Willis. Two starts ago was held up until the 200m when flashing late in a Saturday Graduation behind Vintage Stock and last start actually hit the line well considering where she ended up in running. SECRET PEARL had been going well for the new stable and knocking on the door. Got a perfect ride last start and now with some confidence can go on with it. BEAUCOUNT is always a winning chance in this grade and he goes lengths better for Ryan Hill than anyone. THE CAT RATCHER gains a start and has been going alright. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 3 – 12 Suggested Bet – ARAGAIN EACHWAY RACE 8 ABERDEEN QUEEN is so perfectly placed by the Lindsey Smith yard. Winner of a 3 year old 0MWLY race over Levitate and Annihilator, fifth behind Indian Pacific, Levitate and Resortman and then belted the C3 older horses on a rain affected track with 59.5kg before running back to back placings in Saturday races. Excellent use of the 3kgclaim for Carleen Hefel and she has a handy strike rate for a claiming apprentice. Placed and weighted to win. WILD FRONT has some super form for a midweeker and seems to go particularly well early in the campaign. BOLSHOI GAL is as consistent as they come and Chris Parnham will give her every chance. PREVAILING WINDS is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – ABERDEEN QUEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3,4,7,8 1,2,6 3,4,7,8,9,10,12 1 Market Market
