Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on May 5, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FUHRER carried 57.5kg first-up against the older horses in a C3 when nailed on the post by Kakadu. That race has turned into a brilliant form reference (Kakadu, Zackariah Beau, Utgard Loki and Mr Kunafa). Fresh here, 53 days between runs Mitchell Pateman can have him right over the speed and he looks hard to toss. SAVEGARDE is a month between runs and has bar plates going on. Big red flags but her race form is super. SUN POWER backs up off 7 days and the run last week was better than it reads on paper. DOOWAHDIDDY will open a big price but showed glimpses at trials. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – FUHRER WIN RACE 2 KISSONALLFORCHEEKS had nothing really go right for her first-up off the back of an impressive trial. She got planted wide early and then worked around to sit in the breeze and was left flat footed when Charleton Eddie changed gears. Did well to hold out Starfield Impact for second and this is a lot easier for her. EVEN MAGIC was never let out of neutral in a recent trial with the blinkers on. Keep her safe. DADS BIGHEADED was held up the entire straight on debut and hit the line well under his own steam. GRACIOUS GIRL next best from the soft draw. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – KISSONALLFORCHEEKS WIN RACE 3 ALIEN FROM MARS has a few soundness and immaturity issues but in only 5 runs has shown she has a real motor. Last two runs have been off 140 days and 60 days and she now comes into this 6 weeks between runs. Caught the eye last start in a race which has produced winners: Imperialism, Schoolhouse Rock and Looks Like Magic. Gets her chance from the inside. MY BLUEBOY has had many, many chances but has had no luck of recent times when drawing poorly and being attacked. NEW AMSTERDAM hit the line well in an impressive Bunbury trial. TOVARICH back to the short course looks to suit. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – ALIEN FROM MARS WIN RACE 4 STELLA DOOR has always shown above average ability but it took him a while to really find his feet and break his maiden. Won in style last start eased down by over a length in a race almost 2L faster than maiden grade average at Pinjarra Park. From the gate he can lead or stalk and gets a wonderful opporutunity to go back to back. BRUCE ALMIGHTY was good last start and arguably cost himself the race by laying in. Senior rider back on, he is going well. PARIS GIRL and OXBRIDGE will concede them a head start but be hitting the line late. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – STELLA DOOR WIN RACE 5 IRRITABLE RODNEE ran second on debut in a very hot Pinjarra maiden which has already produced 4 winners and then last time out held off Blackwater Bay who then went on to break his maiden with his eyes closed at his next start. Scratched at Pinjarra late April which is a slight concern but he looks to have the edge on moderate C1 opposition. SON OF THE SUN took forever to break through but can go on with it now. OUR GIRL MARLI put in a ripper two starts ago. With blinkers on she can improve. GOOD FORTUNE backs up off 7 days, comes back to C1 company and senior rider goes on. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – IRRITABLE RODNEE WIN RACE 6 WESTERN KING really does pick himself off his last start effort. He was given a peach by Pike and got all the favours up the fence but was running through the line well and this race doesn’t look any deeper than his most recent win. Should be hard to beat again. OMBUDSMAN can be a sharp improver with the senior rider going aboard. ADMIRAL PROMO ran out of his skin last start when set alight midrace. Interesting to see how Hill handles him here. HAY MAGIC caught the eye last start. She can reel off some big late sections on her day. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – WESTERN KING WIN RACE 7 WE’LL MEET AGAIN has come back to racing particularly well this campaign. Won fresh at 1600 and then chased hard last time out behind Western King, beating home talented C3 rival Sentimental Friend. From the gate Ramoly can have him midfield with cover and at a double figure quote he appeals as a nice eachway investment. PETTICOAT JUNCTION demolished them last week and in typical Justin Warwick fashion backs up off 7 days. She can definitely win again. MY FAIR BALENTINE ran very well last start and draws a plumb gate. HOODLUM THUNDER comes back 1000m and reunites with Mitch Pateman. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – WE’LL MEET AGAIN EACHWAY RACE 8 NEXT STOP THE MOON gets his chance fourth up in the campaign. He would have been hoping for another 5mm of rain to fall during the days preceding Wednesday’s meeting because he is real mudlark but regardless Chris Graham should control the speed and pinch this on the corner. Improving with every run and Graham is starting to kick them home again after a brief hiatus from the winner’s enclosure. FINGERMARK ran a funny race last week when he looked gone and then came again late. IT COMES NATURAL could be a blow out, brings alternate form but going well enough. TRADE PRIZE is savaging the line at the minute. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet – NEXT STOP THE MOON WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,8 3,5,7 1,2,3,6,7,9,11 1,4 Market Market
