Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on April 28, 2020April 29, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 JAGUAR GREY should finally break through. She has been well found in the market at almost every start after her emphatic 2 year old debut run. First-up went from a Tuesday trial straight into the races on Saturday and ran a respectable second. Looked to have every chance but the winner turned out to be a bit better than average. La Vina stepped into a Listed fillies and mares race last weekend and finished a head away from Flower of War who is a m99 rater. SWIFT GONDO has blinkers on first time and looks like getting it cheap in front. FINAL CHILL has a tough draw but wasn’t a bad run in the same race as Jaguar Grey fresh. KAZKAZI was jumping out of the ground late last start. Query on the form. Numbers: 9 – 11 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – JAGUAR GREY WIN RACE 2 AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE may not have been completely suited to leading first-up. Drops back to 1000m here and there is an abundance of speed drawn in various parts of the line. Expecting Pike to ride her on the cold side and she can get over them late. RUBIC ROSE showed a little bit last start. That form behind River Beau is strong and now drops in weight and has blinkers added for the first time. ROBERTA trialled really well for her return to the races. WARFISH took a sit last start and didn’t look at all suited. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE WIN RACE 3 MISS CONTEKI looks like being a little too classy for them over the short course. Won well on debut when leading and then was thrown into the deep end behind Tommy Blue and some quality 3 year olds. Freshened up here and looks the one. ROCK THE PLANET jumps, runs and kicks. Ran second to Miss Frost last week and there are no Miss Frosts in this. INDIGO WILD has ability but a horror draw to contend with. DRAGONFLIES still a maiden but can give it a shake. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – MISS CONTEKI WIN RACE 4 YULONG EARTH does everything wrong. He is drawn to sit either leaders back or three back the fence with the cutaway in play. He is a horse who needs to hit the front at the right time before he switches off, puts the breaks on or goes sideways. Going to be a hit or miss investment and we’ll see if he can sprint up the fence. FINGERMARK comes back in grade after a nice return to the races in a 60+ Graduation race. Should get a nice run from the draw. DIAMONDS FOR ALL leads and will likely appreciate Beaux Edwards back aboard. PATY’S FORCAST backs up off 3 days and her last win was off the quick back up. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – YULONG EARTH WIN RACE 5 FAIREDU vs LUKE’S CHOICE looks the race on paper. FAIREDU has the bars going on which is a big red flag but she was also 56 days between runs when demolishing them last time out and overcoming an unorthodox campaign. Sticking with her again here. LUKE’S CHOICE backs up from a strong performance on the speed last week. Another awkward gate to contend with but may be again sent forward from the draw. BLITZ ‘EM BOOTZ is going well but has a bit to do to turn the tables on Fairedu. GOOD FORTUNE continues to run consistent races. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – FAIREDU WIN RACE 6 SKY FIVE steps out to a staying trip for the first time but looks capable of winning a race like this. Last start got knocked around from pillar to post on a number of occasions when Jade McNaught was trying to get into clear galloping room. Concedes weight to a number of rivals with a senior going on but Mitch Pateman is going very well and Brett Pope’s yard is firing. WILD GALAH is honest and consistent and always round the mark. Finding it hard to win but always there abouts. LAYLO has not had the rub of the green her last few with things going wrong pre race and in running. PETTICOAT JUNCTION has the ability but can switch off badly. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – SKY FIVE WIN RACE 7 PLATINUM BULLET could not have been any more impressive first-up. She resumed in a race which didn’t look at all suitable for her but she ran out of her skin to finish third. River Beau has won a Saturday since and Lording filled the quinella. 3 year old form is far superior to C3 opposition and from the gate she should be within striking distance. DENIM PACK is a danger drawn the inside with a cutaway. Finds it very hard to win but this is one of his most suitable assignments in months. KEEPER’S TALE continues to knock on the door. SUPER TEROITOA fresh and back in trip an improver. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 11 – 7 Suggested Bet – PLATINUM BULLET WIN RACE 8 OLD MICK was well thought of first-up in a fairly strong little 3 year old midweek race. Leica Jaguar ran a fast finishing fourth to River Beau, Lording and Captain Kink last Saturday and Amelia’s Contraire could make the form look stronger again earlier in the day. Drawn a sticky gate but some key gear changes and fitness should see him go close against the older horses. SPEEDY MISS gets considerable weight swings on rivals from the Wild Front race with Chris Graham going on. WILD FRONT is flying and Beaux Edwards is rating front runners particularly well at the minute. SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK is a serious talent. The gate makes things more interesting. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – OLD MICK WIN RACE 9 MASQUERADE has to carry 61kg and is drawn in an awkward position but should have finished far closer first-up in what has turned into a strong form reference race. Will need some luck but capable of running a race at a price. COUNT TOMOZ OFF has contested harder races than this for the last 18 months. Gets in well at the weights in this grade after the claim. STAR GLITTER won well last start after a run of consistent and luckless efforts. ROUTE EIGHTY EIGHT can be a hard mare to catch but does have a short sharp sprint suited to cutaway rails. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – MASQUERADE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,4,5,9 4,9 2,5,6,7 1,2,3,6,10 Market Market[/do]
