Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on April 21, 2020April 22, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 POWER OF ST GEORGE is a massive 3 year old who returned to racing with a vengeance first-up when savaging the line on a day when it was fairly tough to make any considerable ground. He did that first-up no trial with 60.5 and drops down to 59 here after the claim of an in form apprentice. Looks a horse going places. TRADENSIA was a super trial and then a big run first-up over an unsuitable distance. She is going to be winning a fair few this preparation. ABERDEEN QUEEN let down well to win her maiden. MISSALFIE next best. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – POWER OF ST GEORGE WIN RACE 2 LUCY DA GREY was unable to make any impression from the back last start in a race and on a day which was heavily favouring those out in front. With the rail at 14m they should be able to wind up in the three deep line and that brings her right into the race at a price. OCEAN CANDY was a big run fresh when three deep with cover and hitting the line hard. Repeats that run and she’s in the mix. ROMAN FLIRT won’t get a better chance than this but he will be fairly short. IMPERIALISM has finished bridesmaid at all four runs. Pike back on and up to 1400 respect but knows how to get rolled. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – LUCY DA GREY EACHWAY RACE 3 MISS FROST looks way too classy for moderate opposition here. She is a C2 filly in a C1 race because she was disqualified from her stylish last start victory. Trialed well behind Cup Night then changed stables and effortless ambled past Amarillo Rose at trials. Likely to open deep in the red. WETERNIZE looks the testing material on paper. Has been a model of consistency this preparation. MAKFI AMOUR is a new comer to WA and brings an element of unknown. OREO can stalk the speed. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – MISS FROST WIN RACE 4 DIVINE SHADOW was the target of strong and sustained support last start and didn’t quite get the rub of the green when having to wait for a run before squeezing up the fence late. Pateman sticks with Tollman so Pike jumps aboard and draws a gate to sit one out and two back ready to pounce. TOLLMAN has a sticky draw to contend with but is a versatile animal who can be ridden to suit track conditions. OVERTHOUGHT is going well and should be around the mark again. DIAMONDS FOR ALL was not suited off speed last start. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – DIVINE SHADOW WIN RACE 5 ARNO THE FOX is likely to open in double figures but is going fairly well at the moment and might sneak under the guard in a wide open C1 mile race. His last two have been C3 races and only two starts ago this track and distance ran third to Overthought and I Am Spartacus. Should sit forward of midfield from the gate and can be the blowout. GINGER FLYER is naturally going to take running down but in front may not be the best position on Wednesday. PASARAN got absolutely no luck from an awkward draw last start. BOMBARDMENT has come back to racing well. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – ARNO THE FOX EACHWAY RACE 6 WATCH ME NEY NEY has been a black book type of effort at both runs in this campaign. If the track is playing three deep with cover as expected on Wednesday then he really gets his chance. Apprentice on a back marker is always a concern but you only need to watch how Chloe Azzopardi has handled Media Baron to rid yourself of that thinking. LUKES CHOICE stepping up to a mile suits and he will be winding up with Watch Me Ney Ney. STAROF BONNIE ROSE was jumping out of the ground late last start and this is definitely winnable. LA BIONDA didn’t get any luck last start. Previous effort big behind Baramagic. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 9 – 13 Suggested Bet – WATCH ME NEY NEY EACHWAY RACE 7 NGAWI has not won a race since she was a 2 year old but finally (hopefully) gets conditions to suit her race pattern. She can reel off some big closing sections in her races and this is about as weak a race as she will see in C3 grade. Throw at the stumps at double figures in an open race. POINT TAKEN was enormous last start winning against the pattern. She looks to be in impeccable form since returning and is a live chance. NEXT STOP THE MOON should be ready third up. Should get across from the wide gate but wary of leaders at 14m. UNIBRO was impressive last start in a stronger race than this. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – NGAWI EACHWAY RACE 8 SENTIMENTAL FRIEND loomed large last weekend only to be cut down late by Wee Ripper. That race rated very well and the step to 1800 only enhances his winning chances. On paper looks the best opportunity he has seen so far since joining Kylie Pisconeri and off the quick back-up he gets his chance. FRIAR AWAY is going a shade below his best but had excuses his last few. ALTAMONT needs everything to go his way. Will be a costly horse to follow. QUINTARO broke through last start and is racing well. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – SENTIMENTAL FRIEND WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,5,7,8,9,13,14 3,5,7,9,13 2,4,7,9 1,4,5,6 Market Market
