Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on April 14, 2020April 16, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE should be able to kick through to lead or if not sit in the breeze. Impressive trial leading into her return to the races and she should be hard to hold out. OLD MICK was a brilliant trial. Speed drawn underneath him makes it a bit tougher but he looks an impressive type. LEICA JAGUAR should enjoy a nice run just off them and ran well against winners Baby Blues and Sauvegarde last start. SUN POWER next best but suited over further. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE WIN RACE 2 TYCOON LEGEND comes back into the right grade and looks very hard to hold out late. Can be a bit of a hard horse to catch but his last two runs have been enormous. Second to Celebrity Queen and then a fast finishing fifth (when held up) behind Red Can Man, Laverrod and Plutocracy. Beat home Floyd, Little Fish, Chix Pic and Moschard. Any of those would be short priced favourites here. ALTANI is 2 months between runs and seems to grow a leg when ridden to sit, sprint. SIR MAMBO draws the inside gate and is tough to get past. HEART OF COEUR should enjoy a nice run midfield. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – TYCOON LEGEND WIN RACE 3 IRRITABLE RODNEE has a lot to learn; big, raw, awkward moving youngster but looks to have a motor. Run down by Aberdeen Queen last start who is a filly with a future. With natural race experience and a clean get away he should be in the finish. I HOPE YOU DANCE looked home for 1590m of the mile maiden last start when nailed on the post by Cable Guy. With jump and run tactics employed again here she’s hard to run down. BLACKWATER BAY was an alarming drifter first-up and ran accordingly. Did strike some interference turning for home. PRETTY FRIAR was given every conceivable hope by Shaun O’Donnell last start. Draw is tougher here. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 5 – 13 Suggested Bet – IRRITABLE RODNEE WIN RACE 4 TIME TO TRADE will be juicy double figures and isn’t without a blowout chance in a wide open race. If Alan Kennedy gets him safely out of the machine he should be able to kick through to lead this field. First-up in a previous campaign this track and distance ran Arafura to a length. Worth a spec. MCEDITH is a C5 winner resuming in a C3. Has a powerful burst of speed if settling close enough. ERISTIC is hard to beat again after winning from deep the trip last start. JENJA finds a new home. Top end 3 year old form definitely strong enough to win this. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – TIME TO TRADE EACHWAY RACE 5 PETTICOAT JUNCTION has returned to racing well. Bucked first-up when taking no competitive part in the race, second-up finished hard in a race which was dominated from the front and then last start didn’t get the best of luck when held up at crucial stages. JT Warwick on fire and this filly looks a stayer in the making. OUR D’AMOUR is still a maiden but comes from strong races and draws soft after heading back to trials between runs. WILD GALAH is super consistent but lacks a killer blow. KRAKKAS is ready. Can the emerging cult hero get the ‘W’ for Jimmy Stewart? Numbers: 5 – 9 – 6 – 12 Suggested Bet – PETTICOAT JUNCTION EACHWAY RACE 6 FAIREDU is now almost 2 months between runs after being scratched at a Bunbury meeting in early March. First-up effort was huge behind Tollman, who has taken the step up and subsequent Ascot 1000 Guineas winner Lonsdale Lady. Can lead or box seat from the draw and should go close. HE’S ALL MIGHTY beat impressive Good Friday winner Ginger Flyer last start. MISS NOBELLE won well first-up from a spell. BANGCRASH is likely to be a big price but can figure in novelties. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – FAIREDU WIN RACE 7 RUSHN MACHINE should be able to work across from a wide gate and position up outside of likely leader Melros Beach. From there Madi Derrick should give him every chance. His first-up run was far better than it reads on paper, second-up only beaten by classy filly Karijini Aurora. Gets his chance here. FUEL THE FRIAR won well last start and if she can reproduce that effort she is right in the mix. GOOD FORTUNE was scratched from a winnable race to save for this. HAIL DA HINCHI was poor first-up. Willing to give him another chance. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – RUSHN MACHINE WIN RACE 8 NORDIC KING really should be saluting in a race of this nature. If he can’t get the job done here then we’ll be abandoning ship going forward. His first-up run was a blinder when charging to the line behind Resistance. Last start only plugging away and never really made an impression. Blinkers on first time, one last go for him. SAN CRISPINO (and Sharon Miller and Joseph Azzopardi) has been in great form racing consistently for months.Should be able to breeze from the gate and goes close. SENTIMENTAL FRIEND will appreciate the extra furlong and has gone well at two runs in. ONYA HEAD an improver. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – NORDIC KING WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,5,6,9,10,12 3,5 2,3,7,9 2,9 Market Market
