Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on December 17, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 MOGUL MAGIC could get W.Pike off to a flyer and finally get Simon Miller on the board after a long frustrating run of seconds and thirds. Trialed very well and should stalk a very hot speed. INDIAN PACIFIC only comes off a 400m jump out but looked extremely professional. Can lead them, can box seat. Either way gets a great opportunity on debut. HOLY GHOST looked home first-up when crunched into $1.80. Really paddled late after kicking clear. ROCK THE PLANET is absolutely flying. Huge first-up three deep the trip and last Wednesday brave chasing a quality sprinter. Numbers: 12 – 5 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – MOGUL MAGIC WIN Race 2 NOBLE REFLECTION won in style on debut as a 2 year old bolting in by over a length. Recent trial in under a minute was effortless and With a few noted speedsters engaged Chloe Azzopardi should have him poised to strike just in behind them and prove far too classy for moderate opposition. ALTANI and OVERTHRONE come from the same race behind Megazone and subsequent winner He’s A Gunslinger. GUNFLINT is racing consistently. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – NOBLE REFLECTION WIN Race 3 THREE EZE finished just over 3 lengths fifth in the Lee Steere Stakes behind Sanabreanna (third in Champion Fillies to Tuscan Queen & Kay Cee), Massimo (Placid Arc Stakes winner), Laverrod (WA’s best maiden) and War Saint (WA Guineas winner). That is super form for this and he simply picks himself. SIGNIFICANT HERO won well in a Bunbury maiden and then was friendless in a Saturday race. This is a more suitable assignment. SUN POWER takes luck out of the equation with his racing pattern. BEFFUNJAR has put in three good runs this prep. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – THREE EZE WIN Race 4 THE CAT RATCHER looks like needing an ounce of luck at some stage in the straight but those who follow the furlong breakdowns will know he has been charging through the line. Last start was as good as Mr Kunafa and he can repay patient connections. REVEUSE gets one more chance. Query at the trip but there is not a lot of depth at all to this field. Held up at crucial stages two starts back behind My Fair Balentine and Baramagic and then was blocked and checked in the home straight last start. DO A PATAKY was racing well before a moderate staying effort. PRAYING WITH GOD is racing extremely consistently. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – THE CAT RATCHER EACHWAY Race 5 FAIRVIEW doesn’t possess a deal of gate speed but if Harvey can hold up in a midfield position they’ll have to hold her out late. Has raced almost exclusively in 62+ and 3yo Handicap races and this is a drop in grade for her. Trialed very well recently and looks well placed. CITY CIRCLE was doing all the chasing behind This’ll Testya. That mare will likely be $1.30 in a 60+ 1200 Saturday and City Circle drops in grade and has a 2kg claim for good measure. ROSEBUSH comes from the same race and that obviously is a strong form reference. DELANEY a blowout for novelty players. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – FAIRVIEW WIN Race 6 MORGS FREEMAN has always shown above average ability in the Great Southern in the stables of owner/trainer Alan Smith and now transferred from Kojonup to Perth with a premier stable looks like going through the grades. Won well fresh and can go on with it. LIDO BEACH will have both admirers and knockers out to 1200. The engagement of Laqdar Ramoly is even more intriguing and one can only assume they’ll look for the front. DENIM PACK is finally placed back into a winnable race and after the 3kg claim is impeccably weighted. SWEET DREAMIN’ is flying but drawn awkwardly. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – MORGS FREEMAN EACHWAY Race 7 PLUTOCRACY went into black books around the state when held up the entire length of the home straight first-up. He should have gone close to winning that race (same for Rebel Knight, same for Excise Free) and get a big opportunity here to win. Either sits outside the leader or one out and one back and looks hard to toss. UNDISCLOSED is absolutely flying and if she had drawn a gate many would declare her. Still capable of winning but the draw does really hurt. ESSENTIAL SPICE just needs to bring her Belmont Winter form to Ascot and she’ll be awfully hard to hold out. SPEEDING COMET gets every chance from the gate. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – PLUTOCRACY WIN Race 8 MY LAINA is a get back, run on 1000m horse who needs her runs timed to perfection. Enter W.Pike. If there was ever a riding engagement which jumped off the page it is this. She’ll settle near last over the short course but can reel off powerful late sections. BEDOUINE BELLE doesn’t draw a gate either but she has been huge her last two. WEINER WALTZ has some big speed figures to his name. Jumps and runs from out deep. OLIVIA KNOWS will be a big price for a mare who has only run one average race in the care of Ken Adams. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – MY LAINA WIN Race 9 SON OF BACCHUS is the addition to this race transferred from Saturday. He was accepted (and the target of early support) in the 72+ 1800 and now finds himself in a 60+ mile. Looked like he was going to win soft last start before putting on the brakes late. Gets another chance here. INFLATION is drawn poorly but looks like coming across underneath Sophie’s Song. Well weighted after the claim. SOPHIE’S SONG is racing super consistently but might need to work from out deep. FRIAR’S FANTASIA continues to run eye catchers without saluting. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SON OF BACCHUS WIN Race 10 TAXAGANO was simply enormous when winning the Ascot Gold Cup sitting 3 deep the trip and running down Forceful in the shadows of the post. Last start stepped out to the staying trip and arguably should have won when pocketed and held up before picking up and ripping ground back off Missile Launch late. MISSILE LAUNCH has really hit form and there is no reason to suggest he can’t continue on his merry way toward the Perth Cup. FORCEFUL has gone under a well supported favourite his last two when peaking on his run last 100. SPIRITUAL WARRIOR gets his chance to lead without pressure. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – TAXAGANO WIN Race 11 INSPIRATIONAL GIRL is yet another plumb ride for W.Pike. Undefeated after two she was turned out for a spell. Returns as a 4 year old and was not knocked around in either trial. Has shown tactical speed to hold a midfield position from the draw and this looks a nice race for her. GEIGER GEM likely rolls forward from the middle of the line to take up a prominent position. MEGAZONE was only fair last start but reunites with Jade McNaught. DICKOLETTO might need to work to find the breeze but is racing well. Numbers: 12 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – INSPIRATIONAL GIRL WIN Quad (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,6,8,11 1,5,6 2,3,5,7,9 2,3,7 Quad (Race 8 – 11) 3,6,7,10,11 2,3,4,6,7,8 1,2,3,4 2,4,5,11,12,13 Market Market
