Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on May 7, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 WESTERN PRIDE will have plenty of admirers on debut. Strong effort when off the track throughout in a recent trial and looked to win comfortably. Should get every opportunity from the gate on debut. JUST TOO HOT is one of the more effortless trials you will see. Cruised around in solid time under a hold. Interesting to see how he goes race day. OKINA KURI has had many an opportunity over a long period but deserves to break through. ASCOT GOLD comes out running to take up a position. Numbers: 14 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – WESTERN PRIDE WIN Race 2 FLOWER OF WAR is two from two undefeated and won very impressively first-up on Anzac day. Was a big drifter on that occasion but proved the market wrong. Finds the front here and is the one to run down. SON OF BACCHUS looks like having to sit outside of her but is capable of doing so and being very hard to shake. Worth following. ROSEBUSH has a turn of foot which will see her winning a few more. DEVOTED STAR seems to have lot a bit of early zip and might find them too sharp over 1200m. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – FLOWER OF WAR WIN Race 3 PROTECTED ACTION ran into a fairly handy one on debut and was also on a Heavy8. Should take a fair bit of benefit from the run and draws to sit right behind the leaders. MIAMI MOON was impressive at a recent Lark Hill trial when coming to the outside with a sustained run under little pressure. MISS TYCOON trialed well from the front and can take it up on debut. SATURDAY SUN trialed in visors as many Harrison juveniles do. Doesn’t wear them on debut and draws wide but looks to have ability. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – PROTECTED ACTION WIN Race 4 NOT TO BE MIST looks destined to make it three wins from three starts. The 1400m looks perfect, the draw ideal and the first-up run was excellent. Looks a progressive type who will win nice races. Opposition thin. OVER THERE draws far better and should settle closer than last time out. ARCHANT should improve ridden closer to the speed. CRYPTO will be a better horse next preparation but has ability. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – NOT TO BE MIST WIN Race 5 JACKA’S MOB rolls straight to the front and controls the speed. He was strong last start and was only nailed late after clocking strong overall figures. He looks like he’ll win a C1 staying race soon. THROWDOWN has been desperate for the trip and gets his chance in this. BRITISH BESSY has a turn of foot and will make a reasonable stayer in time. Gets a fair way off them but can win. KRAKKAS has just needed further. He gets it here. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – JACKA’S MOB EACHWAY Race 6 PATRISTIC rolls straight to the front and will take catching. Goes from a C1 to a C3 and carries the same weight but keeps improving with racing and has run into some quality opposition already in 3 year olds Soy Tan Rapido and Inflation. STARTHEFRIAR won well in a very weak race at York but Pelican Pick made the form look good on Sunday. LANGLEY is always about the place and can’t be discounted. PERCEPIVE MISS is ready and J. Brown back on who knows her well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet – PATRISTIC WIN Race 7 UNIKAT didn’t seem to handle the track conditions first-up and the market seemed to know. Was a massive drifter and now has bar plates added but with Pike aboard and blinkers on expecting a show from a fairly classy 3 year old. FRIAR’S FANTASIA is honest and consistent and rarely far from the action. Has worn shades once before but still expecting her to sharpen up. SUPREME FORCE drops in grade into a more suitable assignment. FLYING ROAR has come back well this preparation and draws ideally. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – UNIKAT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3 1,2 1,2,3,8,13 3,5,6,7,8,9,10,12 Market Market
