Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on April 30, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 OLGA LOUISA absolutely bolted in against a fair talented bunch of C1 gallopers last start on a Heavy8. After the claim for an in-form apprentice she should either lead or box seat and be very hard to beat. LIDO BEACH looks the logical danger and the market won’t miss either of them. Good run first-up. MASCHINO MISS could be the blow out. Has ability and drops back to the 1000m fresh. SUPER STARDOM has not finished within 6.5L of the winner at her last four but this is far easier. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – OLGA LOUISA WIN Race 2 MEGACHINO looks to have found another race. He won the controversial ‘no race’ two starts ago and then last week on Anzac Day ran into a smart duo in Flower of War and Daishio. Backs up, rises in trip and Peter Hall rides him well. Will need luck but hard to hold out. KENDEL’S MEE DAD was strong last start in a good form race. Subsequent winners Megazone and Crypto make it look very good. BARAMAGIC trialed nicely and put in a huge run on debut. HE’S A GUNSLINGER has been reserved for this race. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – MEGACHINO WIN Race 3 BRAVE CONTENDER trialed like a horse who would be going close on debut. This is not the strongest 2 year old midweeker and with any luck from the gate and provided Chris Parnham takes the ride he can win on debut. MIA DOLCE is again very well placed. The winner of two against maidens and debutantes. After the claim has to be very hard to beat. HIP WIGGLE was a sharp improver from debut to second start and draws well. ROCKY PATH was eye catching on debut from a long way off them. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – BRAVE CONTENDER WIN Race 4 MAGICAL CHARGE will be short and is a Class 1 in a Class 3 race but with Chloe Azzopardi taking 2.5kg off her back and finding the fence in a race without a deal of speed she will take a stack of catching. WEST FIFTH FOURTH should settle leader’s back and run a race. WANNA BE GOOD almost ran down speedy filly Soy Tan Rapido and can go close again. TRULY BELONG will be a winning chance if the fence if off. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – MAGICAL CHARGE WIN Race 5 SCENIC JOURNEY will be settling towards the rear but with the rail at 14m those back in the field usually get their chance later in the day and over this sort of trip to wind up into races. Was good last start coming out of maiden grade and can win this. LANGLEY is limited but is usually there abouts. The Bairstow stable back them up and win for fun so he’ll be in the finish. LAVISTARR was brave last start when towing the field to a break away leader and holding on. JESTER NOIR back in trip a definite chance. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SCENIC JOURNEY EACHWAY Race 6 BOYAGIN looks like going straight from maiden class into a Class 1 and winning. This race is extremely weak and there only looks one danger on paper. Can sit close handy to them and the two horses who ran in the minors behind him in his maiden victory have both won since. GOOD FORTUNE draws well and has been racing against stronger class 1 opposition than here. Looks the only danger. GOLDEN ARCHES is hard to catch but has some ability. STELLA ANNE next best. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – BOYAGIN WIN Race 7 TONED is a 10 year old, having start number 131 and certainly doesn’t do his best work at Ascot but he drops in grade and importantly has a senior rider engaged who should ride him the way he likes. Goes 10L better when allowed to make a sustained run and Hall suits him. Expecting a show from the old boy. DECOY NOXIOUS will find this far more suitable than the Geraldton Cup and has won stronger races than this. PRESS THE PETAL in this grade has to be a chance. MIDNIGHT BANQUET was beaten a long way from home in the WA Cup but can bounce back. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – TONED EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,8 3,4,5,10 1,5 2,3,4,7 Market Market
