Scott Embry’s Thursday York Preview Posted on October 5, 2022October 5, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLAISZEN CAZAH went well at York first-up over an unsuitable distance and reproduced the effort second-up when finishing off well behind Rommel’s Jeuney. Should be peaking third-up, should only be better suited by an extra 220m and from the gate Laqdar Ramoly can keep him within striking distance. MISSALFIE ran well rack and distance behind Chokslam and then was a little outclassed in the Toodyay Cup. This is her grade. BRING ONE HOME is ready to win another race and will look to roll to the top. SMOKING BARREL always capable. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – BLAISZEN CAZAH WIN RACE 2 PULLING RANK brings the alternate form (Markinson, Arafisio and Bulls Eye Perfect all through the same race behind Ronelledo). Finished only half a length off Legacy Of Tara first-up, finished only 2L off Anna’s Boy two starts ago and then ran into some handy types in the Special Sort race. Point of difference view. BULLS EYE PERFECT, ARAFISIO and MARKINSON were all solid enough in the maiden handicap at Belmont on Toodyay Cup day. Not much between that trio clearly. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – PULLING RANK EACHWAY RACE 3 DEPUTANO hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a long, long time. She’s not racing at the peak of her powers but her last 12-18 months worth of racing has been almost exclusively in Saturday racing with the occasional midweek 0MWLY or provincial C5. On class alone she’ll be in the mix here. Two starts ago 5.5L off Benji’s. Three starts ago same margin behind Let’s Galahvant. O’SO TEMPTING finds a race where he can roll to the top and control. That’s when he runs his best race and this is the kind of track/grade/distance where he can kick into the corner and give some real cheek. ARTIE’S JEWELS bolted up to them leader’s back last start but didn’t quite let down late. FOR OUR NIC and all of Gary Crispin’s love York. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – DEPUTANO WIN RACE 4 SAVING MEMPHIS will flash late like he has his last two starts. Big in defeat behind lightly raced Williams galloper Romancing The Rock and then was enormous in defeat when beaten a breath by Abbou this track, distance and grade last start. Gets 2kg on Abbou and with Rare Case and Vitai Lampada also engaged they’ll get along at a genuine tempo and he’ll get last crack. RARE CASE comes back to where she broke her maiden. ABBOU has found some consistency. VITAI LAMPADA was better than it reads last start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – SAVING MEMPHIS WIN RACE 5 CELEBRITY PRINCE probably isn’t one of “Bob’s A-Graders”, a phrase that will be wheeled out in increasing regularity as we approach the summer carnival, but he still looks more than capable of winning a York Maiden handicap on debut. Shades on, CJP on and an inside draw. Takes him a long way. OPTIMAL has had two starts in 2 year old SWP and 0MW company. Third to Top Of The Pops and Miss Drakova reads up brilliantly and this is far easier. Just may need further. BIG BREAK has been knocking on the door all preparation. 18 start maiden who can find one or two better. JAG SUPERTROOPER has speed. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY PRINCE WIN RACE 6 RESTFUL joins the Adam Durrant yard and has always trialled like a horse who would be winning a few races. His Lark Hill trial win in December 2021 and his Lark Hill trial win on 19 September were both good enough to win a maiden handicap at York. QUILLOW looks the danger. Has been nominated, accepted and scratched a few times recently trying to find the right race. This is it. ZENZERO BAY wasn’t disgraced on debut in a race that contained Yarralea, Hooah Havana and Malkar Pindari. SO IN LOVE will chase her hand and come out running you would expect. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – RESTFUL WIN Same Race Multi – Restful (Top 2) + Quillow (Top 3) RACE 7 ACEFIRE put on a galloping exhibition last start which duly rewarded Roy Rogers for a brilliant piece of placement. Was coming out of C3 and 3 year old company back into a 52+ ratings race and absolutely destroyed them winning by 3L with 61kg. 63.5kg is an ask in anyone’s book but he’ll be hard to beat again. GETYOURMONEYANDRUN has a 3kg pull on him and Paul Hunter opts for the senior rider. Two great runs this preparation. Looks the danger. CHOIX DE LACE is a jump and run type who may have the spring back in her step. KOHLI is hard to catch but should be a handy horse for Albany. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – ACEFIRE WIN RACE 8 CAPTAIN SHARMANE joins the Takahide Ikenushi yard and looks really hard to beat in this 46+. Something clearly wasn’t quite right with her last preparation, she tailed out badly in a few starts, but it’s hard to argue that her best isn’t the best in this field. Did finish third to Brooklyn Pier and Time Scale, beating home All Day Session and Ghost Who Walks in 3 year old company. Taking on trust. SHOCK RESULT doesn’t seem to run out 1200 so coming back in distance and grade helps. WEAPON OF CHOICE went close track and distance two starts ago. HOT BLOODED is well placed by an astute yard. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN SHARMANE WIN RACE 9 YEMAN LASS is back into a winnable race. Begun her preparation in a 3 year old 62+ when only 4.4L off Capital Flight, State Of Power and Beads when afforded no luck in running. Since then has been in three C3 events and has raced without a lot of luck on occasion. Draws a gate, comes right back in grade from a C3 (m54+) to a c46+ and gains the services of Clint Johnston-Porter. Likely to attract plenty of interest. RAIN CARD trailed nicely and while he’ll get back he is proven on the York circuit. AVA EXPRESS is suited over further but capable on his day. STUMBLE caught the eye fresh. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – YEMAN LASS WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,4 1,4 2,3,5,6,7 1 Market Market
