Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on June 28, 2023June 28, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 IFFUBLUSH has run second at her last two outings. Stiff to go under by a nose to All Fun two starts back and then never gave up behind Secret Attraction last start in a Northam Mile Maiden which was run 2.5L faster than average. Looks to get a gun run from the ideal draw and should be going close to opening her winning account. FARAWAY BAY (on the bucket list) should roll forwards and give a sight on speed. CHANTEL comes through the same Iffublush race but couldn’t go with her when the sprint went on. ALLEGRO SONATA is accepted for Wednesday, this looks easier. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – IFFUBLUSH WIN RACE 2 VINGINDA couldn’t get a start in the maiden last week as E1 so he has to progress out to a 1600m maiden off a 35 day break. Has trialled in between and happy to forgive and forget his debut performance when he was all at sea and had no idea where to go and what to do. He is clearly going to take time and patience but hoping that the extra distance will allow him to settle and work into the race. Massive animal. BLACK FOR CASH has had a few cracks at it but hasn’t been far away on occasion. Should get the right run. JIVE KING beat him home last start and then went to the Secret Attraction/Iffublush race. COVENTRY REEF will keep coming. Looks a staying type. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – VINGINDA WIN RACE 3 MAJOR MARIO was posted out wide on debut and kept coming when running third. Is drawn barrier 9 of 9 again so it’s not an easy steer but from what we saw at the trials (including beating winners in a 0 – 72 trial) he is versatile and should be winning a maiden soon. THE MIGHTY BUTCH really caught the eye at his return. He’ll be popular with replay watchers as one of the very few horses to make ground towards the inside at Northam recently. ARCHER COUNTY trialled well behind two handy maidens. Only 51 days since his last run of an 8 start preparation. PIERRA ART was fully tested in the trial. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – MAJOR MARIO WIN RACE 4 ALMAYA was disappointing on debut. He looked pretty good at trials but never travelled the winner at any stage. The track at that meeting was a Good4 in Race 1 and a Heavy9 by the end of the day. So willing to be forgiving and with a few gear changes and the sun out (hopefully) going to follow up. BOLTCO JACK has caught the eye in both recent trials. The first of them was very quiet. Keep safe on debut. SNIP OF GLAMOUR ran well through traffic last start. BIRTHDAY BALLOT charged home last start. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 12 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALMAYA EACHWAY RACE 5 DE LA BEAUTE has been racing with great consistency over recent months. Had a few excuses last start but was still good enough to suggest that from the ideal draw she would take beating. They’ll get along at a genuine clip and Troy Turner can have the filly poised just in behind them. MAGNIFICENT CARAT trialled the house down leading into his debut preparation and has again been impressive at Lark Hill. Big danger. INVINCIBLE STRIKE wasn’t asked for an effort at trials and was in the worst part of the track. Tick. THE BIG ONE is running out of chances. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – DE LA BEAUTE WIN RACE 6 ON THE FULL got the job done last start from the breeze. He’ll march forward into a prominent position, the question remains: is that the place to be at Northam? Back to he true and an improving track – we’ll find out. He’s always promised to win a few and work his way through the grades. WORK IN PROGRESS was exactly that last campaign. She’s got plenty of ability but wants to over-do things badly. LONSDALEITE was hammered in betting at his WA debut. Didn’t flatter but willing to respect the money. I’M ALL MISS strikes a deep C3 but can still run well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ON THE FULL WIN RACE 7 GALARIAN backs up off 5 days from last Saturday to Thursday. Drops from a 58+ to a 50+ and is drawn barrier 1. He’ll get all the favours and he has been really tough and gritty over the last few starts. Love a stayer on the back-up. CARTANERA is extremely well placed back into this grade. Love the use of the Austin Galati 3kg claim and the wide draw is no worries as a get back, run on style of mare. BERGAMO is still a maiden but you’d argue she’ll still beat a lot of these home on class and progression alone. RIDING HOOD FAME won her second race at start 70. That’s 50+ staying races. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – GALARIAN WIN RACE 8 CHEERFUL MOMENT is a rolling type who will pinch a race like this sooner rather than later. With Zadar Rock so hit and miss out of the gates expect he’ll be able to dictate to them early and then start to roll from the 800. Drops 2kg and should only be getting fitter. Could turn this into a real test. KEEPER SWEET isn’t racing at the same level as when she went to the paddock at the end of last preparation. Hopefully winkers and Pike can bring her back. GOKU got the job done at any old price last start. Candlelight Supper came out on Saturday to frank the form. COUNT THE SESSIONS was enormous last week after missing away hopelessly. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – CHEERFUL MOMENT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,4,7 1,2,3 1,2,5,6,8,9 2,3,4,5,6,7,9 Market Market
