Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on August 24, 2022August 24, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TIGER MOVE looks to have found his race on paper. 22 start maiden who has had his fair share of chances but this is as weak a maiden as you are likely to see within 150km of Perth. Main dangers are a 21 start maiden, an 18 start maiden and a horse who was beaten 9L on debut finishing 10th of 10. Enough said. Now or never for Tiger Move. SYRIANOS didn’t stay the trip two starts ago but it was a faster than average run maiden. Forgiving. MELWOOD COAST sits back and makes a run at them. He travels well but doesn’t really let down. AFFLUENTIAL travelled into it nicely on debut but has absolutely no change of speed. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – TIGER MOVE WIN RACE 2 HOOAH HAVANA is sure to get a few punters enthused at his debut. Beat home The Fav (in this field) and Noteworthy (a Peters Investments filly out of Neverland) in the trial and was only starting to really work through his gears late in the trial. Think he’s got a motor and think he’ll take beating on debut. RUSSIAN SNIPER found the 1100m too sharp on debut. Think that will be a handy form reference race for maiden company. THE FAV is double nominated for Wednesday and Thursday. This is lengths weaker than the Wednesday race so maybe they scratch and start here? BEACH WEST trialled well leading into her first-up run. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – HOOAH HAVANA WIN RACE 3 ROMANTIC RULER should take great benefit from his debut performance. Went around in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind Mojo’s Luck and Union Jack and carried 59kg on a Heavy8. Now drops into an all-age maiden, drops down 3.5kg to 55.5 and takes on arguably weaker opposition. Brilliant set up for him and think he’ll break through here. ARAMAT continues to knock on the door. Finished third behind Look Up and Fruit Loops and then second behind Canny Coni last start. Getting very close. JIVE KING was the target of betting support on debut and nothing really went right. Forgive and follow up. REEL THEMOFF went well on debut but the barrier hurts. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – ROMANTIC RULER WIN RACE 4 ANNA’S BOY finished second to Bigdayonit last start and beat home main rival George Gently. From barrier 1 he should be afforded every chance in running and the way that the entire Ben & Dan Pearce Team are going it’s hard to see him not being right there when the whips are cracking. HAYDROSS is clearly still learning but he definitely has ability. Can position up closer here too. GEORGE GENTLY has run well in both starts this preparation. Just needs luck from the draw. EXPEDITION is going well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – ANNA’S BOY WIN RACE 5 CITY ANGEL has had two public appearances. She won a 400m jump out in March and then was produced on a Heavy track at Lark Hill trials over 1100m when beating Ocean Aura and Finest Clobber (who are both in this field). Looks to have some ability. FINEST CLOBBER was well travelled when last in work and went under at the shorts on multiple occasions. BUDGERIGAR may need further but can go well on debut. GALAXY ACES was scratched from Wednesday to save for this. The 400m jump outs before her debut looked sharp. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – CITY ANGEL WIN RACE 6 FIORUCCI MAMA is double nominated for Wednesday and Thursday. Regardless of which race they select for her she must be respected. Can’t tell anything from her trial vision but her race form in top quality 2yo company was all excellent. This race certainly has less speed than the one on Wednesday. REAL DANGER was sound first-up and should only improve for the run. Luke Campbell gets his chance to make an impression for Peters Investments. MEGA REWARD returned a strong winner and Paul Harvey heads to Northam on a Thursday to keep the ride. Tick. SHOCK RESULT is more than capable in this grade. Numbers: (5) – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – FIORUCCI MAMA WIN RACE 7 SPORTS TALK got into a fair bit of traffic last start when well thought of in a C3 coming out of a strong maiden win. In his maiden he beat home Candlelight Supper who has since broken maiden status and goes round in a C1 at Belmont on Wednesday and last start thought he more than measured up in a C3. Back to C1, drawn to get a lovely run. Like his chances. ROMANCING THE ROCK is proving a hard horse to ride at the minute. He is still very new, very green and very wayward. Hopefully a set of winkers can help. DEMERITS PRIDE won well last start and can go on with it now. CIVVY STREET is racing consistently. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPORTS TALK WIN RACE 8 CYWER and BRIGHID clash again after meeting behind Famous Jurney in a C3 at Belmont Park on 27 July. Both are capable of winning plenty more races but think that out to 1400m CYWER can really hit her straps late and get over BRIGHID. Is a versatile filly but she’s been drawn wide all preparation and provided they’re making ground at Northam on Thursday expecting to see her flooding home late. BRIGHID is no slouch and she should get a softer run in transit from a far better gate. Logical danger. FOREVER DREAMING is awkwardly caught in between grades. Has ability but likely has to concede a head start and weight to Cywer. BENEATH THE COVERS can roll to the top. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – CYWER WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,5,7,10 1,2,(5),8 4,5 2,3 Market Market
