Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on August 10, 2021August 10, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DANCE OF THE SOUTH has never run a place at 11 starts but this is the kind of race where she could figure. Has shown glimpses throughout her career and the Greg Cave yard is going super (Ay Tee Emm, Darcele, Differentiator, Ginger Mack) and this mare won’t see a much weaker 2200 in the provincial area. Worth a throw at the stumps in a low maiden. SHE WHO DARES probably should have got the job done last start. Found traffic at a crucial stage in a 5 horse race. Has to be a huge query on the form in a race where Kebalah and Captain Cut loomed into it. PRAIRIE ANGEL is another like Dance of the South bringing alternate form and stepping out in trip. Has whacked away alright in better maidens recently. SPECIAL IMAGE is a career maiden and is at an awkward part of the preparation 6/7 weeks between runs. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – DANCE OF THE SOUTH WIN RACE 2 SPRINGSURE LAD has been a tough horse to follow in a short career to date without actually doing anything wrong. Has a set of blinkers added to his race gear, draws the inside gate and has placed at four outings from five starts. Looks like today is the day on paper, but definitely proceeding with caution. Hopefully he can break through and end a lean run for Jason Whiting. OCEAN AURA showed a bit at trials and Paul Roberts does a super job with his small team. They’ve all been trialling well and they all resume at the same time. SOUTHSTAR will be saved up for one final crack at them and probably has the best turn of foot in this field. ACT INNOCENT was solid at her debut for the new yard hitting the line hard late in the piece. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SPRINGSURE LAD WIN RACE 3 PRINCE RAGNAR makes his debut for the Grant & Alana Williams yard in the Galante family colours. Half brother to Spiritual Warrior and recent trial winner at 950m and the form out of the trial will be quite exposed by Thursday. Defending ran a ripper on Saturday when gunned down in the shadows by The Front Bar and we see Secret Deploy go around on Wednesday at Belmont. Had a set of ear muffs on in the trial and only wears them pre-race on debut. Looks handy. MINNO trialled up nicely and gets in with a postage stamp 53.5kg as a 3 year old filly taking on the older horses. Drawn ideally and looks to have a motor. EGG WHITE was backed off the map at Kalgoorlie and was scrambled midrace. Worth following up. ATLANTIS BEACH has been trialling well, is just drawn awkwardly. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – PRINCE RAGNAR WIN RACE 4 FINEST CLOBBER comes from the same trial as Prince Ragnar, Defending and Secret Deploy. If the form has held up through the trial then that’s very encouraging for the chances of Finest Clobber on debut because her trial was just as good as any of those. Gets in light as a 3 year old filly and then only gets lighter with the claim for Victoria Corver. Should get the gun run and go well on debut. RULELEE hit the line well on debut when cutting through the middle of the field nicely. Did trial nicely too at Lark Hill. NITRO FRED is a Taylor jump and run type. Always hard to tell in the trials whether they’re paddling late or been given a soft experience. KANDAKA held her head to one side at the trials and still galloped on well down the straight. Work in progress. Numbers: 9 – 3 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – FINEST CLOBBER WIN RACE 5 MYSTERY MAN has weight to lump but should be ready to peak third up from a spell. Matched motors with the undefeated Pepper Assault for a large majority of the straight last start and she is a mare who beat Agent Kensington previously and looks an above average sprinter. Form held up on Saturday with Nobellity running fourth behind Wilchino and Mystery Man stays in a C1. Tracks up in behind the speed. FISH HOOK is all or nothing. When she finds the fence she really runs but she can seriously paddle late. HELL’S BELLE won first-up last preparation and then ran out of her skin in a 3 year old 62+ second-up. Just drawn awkwardly. AGENT KENSINGTON has come back bigger and better this campaign. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – MYSTERY MAN WIN RACE 6 DAD’S BIGHEADED has had five runs this preparation for Fenella Martin and the only time he was in a C1 was when finishing second to Written Matter in a winner producing race (Elafella/Just Handy) with 60.5kg. Since then has raced in 2x C3s, 2x 3 year old 0MWLY, including a third behind Tradem’In and Truly Reliable, beating home Elafella and Sunsphere. Finds himself back into a C1, gets in lighter than usual with Laqdar Ramoly riding and is drawn to get the run of the race. This is his best chance yet. OLDEN put the writing on the wall last start in the same race as Dad’s Bigheaded and beat him home comfortably. Always shown more ability than his career record suggests. TUMIVET like No Surrender last week may be a Mitchell Pateman horse. Expect improvement. GALLANT RANGER is racing consistently and if not gaining a start at Belmont looks suited in this. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – DAD’S BIGHEADED WIN RACE 7 ZAC LUVS TO FLY comes from a high rating C5 at Northam which was run 6.5L faster than average when finishing third behind Fairy Fast and Jag The Joker. If the grey mare gets the cash (or goes close) in another C5 at Belmont on Wednesday then the form will look super for Zac Luvs To Fly who drops back into a C3. Senior on, drawn the inside and looks to be remarkably improving deeper and deeper into the campaign. SUN CHACEN was chacen hard throughout down the 1000m straight first-up and never gave it away. Maps ideally from gate 5 and runs for Joey Azzopardi. MASTER MOORE resumes off the back of a nice trial and has strong enough race form to win this. EXCERPT has been going well all preparation for Adam Durrant. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – ZAC LUVS TO FLY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,5,9 1,2,4,6,10 1,3,4 1,3,4,5,7,10 Market Market
