Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on June 17, 2020June 17, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NEW AMSTERDAM was super impressive on debut when well found in the market. Got out late and flashed at My Blueboy and beat home Alien from Mars. Was a little unlucky in the straight at his second start but it was more his own fault through greenness than anything but still was possibly a little below market expectations. Draws a gate and this looks a nice maiden for him. EGYPTIAN MOON won a trial in impressive fashion at Belmont last Monday. Michael Lane has been unstoppable for months and this is another winning chance. ROSES ARE RED has been trialling alright. DON’T ARGUE BUSTER should be in the firing line. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – NEW AMSTERDAM WIN RACE 2 NOT MY FIGHT has not been sighted since the 26th of April which is an obvious red flag. That run was really strong behind Stella Door (who is now a C1 winner) and beating home subsequent maiden winner Lies ‘n’ Deception. Putting faith in Lindsey Smith’s yard to have her right. JOYRIZE is no star but looks like breaking through for a maiden win soon. PROTECTED ACTION has been solid at both outings this preparation under Victoria Corver. SHADOW SHIFTER has had 18 opportunities to break through but his last few have been strong. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – NOT MY FIGHT WIN RACE 3 JONO resumes this campaign at double figure odds and ran really well when fourth behind The Italian Job, Ocean Candy and Dustypark. Backed it up with a close second to Cousin Ival on a soft track and this maiden looks probably the weakest of the three he has contested this prep. Looks a great winning chance. MIRROR MOON looks the obvious danger on paper. Went round at a big price on debut when a distant third but the pair in front of her Tradensia and Saturday Sun go well. HITCHINRAIL ran well enough on debut to go close second-up. WHAT PLANET YOU ON ran far above market expectations first-up. Numbers: 3 – 13 – 9 – 12 Suggested Bet – JONO WIN RACE 4 SPECIAL IMAGE was the target of good backing last time out when settling at the rear behind a farcical tempo. Ryan Hill said ‘alright boys I’ve got to get going’ and swept around them from last to take it up. She ran well and should keep improving. SESSIONELLE beat her home in that race and only went down in the final stride to a horse who had shown some level of ability. SMART FASCINATOR steps up sharply in trip but looks a stayer in the making. FINAL CHILL should be rock hard fit. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL IMAGE WIN RACE 5 SPEEDY MISS has been a model of consistency her entire career. The 58kg about sees her out in terms of weight carrying ability but she is in form and gets the services of William Pike. If she can be within striking distance turning for home she’s got a sharp turn of foot. PREVAILING WINDS is really well placed by an astute yard second-up. Has contested almost exclusively harder races since arriving in WA. STORMY RULER was unable to overcome a horror gate last start. Well worth forgetting he went round. SUSPECTUS comes from a C1 into a C5 but his first-up win when backed off the map for Steele Casey says he deserves respect. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – SPEEDY MISS WIN RACE 6 PERCEIVE ran really well first-up in a very similar event to this. Was nailed late in the race by Point Taken who has been an in-form mare for a fair while now. From the gate she should get a lovely run just tucked in behind them. Can even take up the running if that’s the pattern of the day, she’s versatile and should give backers a big sight. SOWAR is a quality 3 year old resuming here off a short let-up. His win on Good Friday was strong with 60.5kg. VITALILO doesn’t have the best numerical form but has raced without luck. COSMIC REFLECTION should have won more than just the 1 race in her career. Keep safe. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – PERCEIVE WIN RACE 7 TRUTIARA was thrown in the deep end last start, from a C1 into a strong 60+. Far better suited here in a C3 with the senior rider on. MISSALFIE is only a C1 filly but her recent form is easily strong enough to salute here. Finished third to Trutiara two starts ago and then ran into progressive filly Chantrea last time out. MEGADON can be very hard to catch but on his day has a turn of foot good enough to win. LIL RED BIKINI continues to run strong races. Always a top 3 chance in this grade. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – TRUTIARA WIN RACE 8 REGAL POYSE was scratched from a 1000m race at Belmont on Wednesday to be saved for this. Was a first-up winner last preparation off the back of a strong trial and this is a similar type of preparation. Should go close in a race of this nature. GOKU resumed in a C3 when wide the trip and then was supported at a price in a far stronger race than this behind Bruce Almighty, Zephyr Queen and Kakadu. Could sneak under the guard of a few. BANK ON IT makes her WA debut after being a late scratching last Wednesday when dumping Lucy Warwick in the prelim. PARIS GIRL gets well out of her ground in her races but hits the line. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – REGAL POYSE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,11 1,6 4,5,6,9 1,2,5,7,10 Market Market
