Scott Embry’s Thursday Narrogin Preview Posted on November 21, 2023November 21, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WHAT SHOUT looks to get her opportunity to lead, roll and win in a 1900m maiden handicap. Ash Maley calls on the services of ZJP to keep her weight down and she’s drawn the outside gate which will allow him time to roll across and find the front. Considering the way she’s skipped away over 2200m at Northam on two occasions now she should prove hard to run down at 1900. CAMPFIRE JACK is getting to the line well and can be put into the race. MOON DOG was disappointing last start but all his previous form was actually sound. These maiden handicaps are designed for horses like him. WHAITIRI has been racing well since joining Gary Crisipin. She’s a career maiden though. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – WHAT SHOUT WIN RACE 2 NOVATORIO finished fourth on debut behind Seeyouatthesession, Magic Belle (since second to Hezangelic) and Royal Accolade (since third to Lost City and Bonny Rock) which looks like great form for a maiden handicap at Narrogin. Woeful last start but if you forgive her for that and go off her debut performance she’s the one to beat. EIN STEIN was in the same race as her when fifth and wasn’t all that far from her. WAR TACTICS ran well in a race like this on debut and Annie King can produce them fresh. CANGGU races on speed and tries hard. Numbers: 9 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – NOVATORIO WIN RACE 3 FANZ has his first start in WA for Phil Naylor and looks very well placed in a 46+. He has to lump 62kg and that’s the obvious concern but this is a weak race and his back to back placings in C2 and BM58 company over East are good enough to win at this level. Watch. MRS KANGAROO was a nice trial behind Pro Latte and her only win came fresh off a 127 day spell. Looks a very similar set up for her here. Respect. LIVING HIGH can always run a race fresh. CRYSTAL VAIN has been going well since joining Aaron Pateman. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – FANZ WIN RACE 4 MANTELLI is a polarising galloper but this is arguably the weakest race he has seen in his entire career. We’re talking about a horse who finished third in a 72+ at Ascot behind This’ll Testya and Comes A Time now competing in a 52+ at Narrogin. Lots of trust issues with him but extremely good placement. FRANTIC WAR chased hard behind Oxbridge at Albany. That race was run 6L faster than average and more than measures up as a form reference here. PRANCING IN MILAN is suited to these York/Narrogin meetings. WESTERN IMPACT is better than his last two. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – MANTELLI WIN RACE 5 HEARTFORD HOUSE was the start of a great day at the races for Mack Hall when backed confidently from $11 into $5.50 and scoring a strong maiden win. Rises 1.5kg in weight but he’s drawn to park right over the top of the speed and it’s hard to see much depth in this 46+ contest. Great chance to go back to back. AUNTY JEAN is well placed into this and the Narrogin circuit should suit a mare like her. MASTER BUDDHA is normally popular in betting and given the barrier and map he should be there abouts. PRINCESS DEJOUR is worth keeping in mind fresh. Lethal strike rate for a small team. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – HEARTFORD HOUSE WIN RACE 6 AIYZA looked a brilliant Inglis Online purchase by Matt Scott. She’s a Black Type mare having finished third behind Saintorio and All The King’s Men last year at Ascot over the carnival and here second-up for the new yard she drops into a 52+ at Narrogin. Looked to have a bit on offer without much room to move at her return. Great race for her. ALBITON made a successful WA debut with a strong win and we’ll see that form through After Party at Bunbury on Wednesday. IMPOSING BROOK can be hit and miss but historically goes well fresh. IM EUGENE is a talent but his best and worst are 30L apart (literally). Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – AIYZA WIN RACE 7 MONEY FOR OLD ROPE had to dig deep to win last start after it looked like he was headed half way up the straight. Fought back underneath them and made it a third win in four starts. Now that he’s putting it together he can continue on his winning ways. 61kg is an ask but he has a favourable racing pattern. FLOAT OUR BOAT loomed the winner fresh in the same race and looked to peak on his run. Should go close here. JACK IN THE BLACK is always a big chance in this grade. SHADOW GIRL should be an improver dropping into one of these. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – MONEY FOR OLD ROPE WIN RACE 8 MY FAIR BALENTINE looked like she was going to pinch a race at York or Narrogin in these 52+/open 50+ handicap races but just couldn’t quite get the job done. Big believer in jockeys who ride these tracks well and Troy Turner is certainly one of those. If they drop the anchor she can be put into it. ZERO DEMERITS has to carry 60kg after the claim for Rosie Mahony but he wasn’t disgraced in the York Cup which is lengths better than this. BIG RED HAWK is ready to win one after sustaining a run at his last two. SMOKING BARREL always there abouts. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – MY FAIR BALENTINE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,6 2,3,4,7,10 1,3,4 1,2,3,4,7,9 Market Market
