Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 6, 2026January 6, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SAFARI BOY has had three runs over 2000+ at Belmont, Pinjarra and Bunbury and now fins a 1925 at Geraldton. Like the visors coming off, love the booking of Tash Faithfull and thinking that he can roll to the top here, control the tempo and then kick hard on straightening. Most winnable race he has seen in the last month or two. EXTRA ZERO – enough is enough. He’s not 0 from 19, and 0 from 7 at Geraldton after jumping favourite in 5 of them. Can win but knowing him, probably wont! BLOW BACK raced wide throughout last start and just kept coming. Was a brave effort and a month later she’s got barrier 1 and won’t do nearly as much work. CLASSIC TURN showed glimpses at this distance range for DMac. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – SAFARI BOY WIN RACE 2 ONEMORETWOMANY hadn’t won a race since he was a2 year old until 6 December when he knocked off Midwest Star On The Mark in a narrow and deceptive photo finish. He backed it up last start beating the regions emerging star in Bolta and now all of a sudden he’s right back in form and has to be hard to beat again. CASH AWAY didn’t race from 20 July 2024 until 13 December 2025, it’s reasonable to expect it will take him a few runs to regain his confidence. Big improvement first-up to second-up and this is a great race for him to go close third-up. PRINCE RAGNAR has winkers on, a senior on and leads for a long way. GOLD KEEPER is always there abouts. Back in trip might help. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ONEMORETWOMANY WIN RACE 3 CHEEKY CHARLOTTE is first-up, no trial from the Carnarvon dirt back onto the Geraldton grass. She wasn’t leaving that clearly up in Carnarvon but hopefully she steps here and gives herself a chance to track the hot speed set by Art Session / Spirit Man. More than capable if she’s right. ART SESSION won a Lark Hill trial by 7L leading into his return but so far hasn’t fired on race day. Had to do a stack of work first-up in a forgive, however, second-up from the breeze and even more disappointingly last start from in front over 1000 at Bunbury he has been plain. This Country C5 is very winnable and after the Natika Riordan claim he’s well in. PRECAST will let the speed go and have last crack at them. Trialled well. TYCOON DEMON isn’t the same horse as 18 months ago. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – CHEEKY CHARLOTTE WIN RACE 4 ALLA PING won a Geraldton barrier trial by 3.5L before going around a $4.60 chance on debut when beaten 1.6L by Kinky Boots. Second-up found a much stronger and deeper maiden when far from disgraced, running fourth behind Spare A Prayer. Think that’s comfortably the strongest form reference race and in a race with less depth and less speed she should be going close. CRAMPIN’ MY STYLE joins the stables of Tony Scally who has his entire team firing on all cylinders. Presented first-up no trial after having three runs for Luke Fernie as a 2 year old. Market watch. CALL NICK was disappointing last prep. Fresh run was his best run after trialling well. MAZZETTI put in a few cheeky runs from tie to time for previous trainer Graeme Ballantyne. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ALLA PING WIN RACE 5 TRULY GALLANT ran fourth last start beaten three quarters of a length, but watching the replay it’s easy to sell yourself that with clear galloping room he would have won. He was bolting in behind them and Holly Nottle was desperately searching for clear galloping room which simply never came his way. He’s really quite progressive for the region and expect he’ll bounce back here. BOUSSAC had been sacked by the majority of the punting world before finally breaking through last start. Can he go back to back? BE MY BELLE was no match for Truly Gallant the last time they met. DEEP DISCRETION savaged the line behind a nice horse last start in Scurgeofthewest. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – TRULY GALLANT WIN RACE 6 SPARE A PRAYER was first-up, no trial over 1200m and absolutely bolted in for Matt Nash. In that event he had odds on favourite Written Words to his outside and he comfortably shook him off on straightening and put a margin on the chasing brigade. See no reason why Cassey Matrinan won’t lead from barrier 1 and if he does so then he’ll be hard to beat again? KARRI ON is actually going really well. Was only cut down on the post by Deep Discretion two back and then over-raced a bit midfield last start behind In Situ and yet still closed off hard late. Big danger. CHAMPEZE was getting home powerfully along the fence line last start. Will do it tougher this time around. LIBERTY DAME is attacking this first-up without a trial and should hold a spot midfield. Numbers: 1 – 12 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPARE A PRAYER WIN RACE 7 LEADING TADDY was really good behind Sparkle Corner last start. Closed the margin to just over 1L late and with the weight swing, the better barrier and the versatility that he possesses where he can land in a forward position if the track is suiting leaders or sit midfield if it’s suiting swoopers, he looks capable of turning the tables. SPARKLE CORNER has always been a Geraldton specialist, all five wins and all four minors are at this track and as a 3x 1400m winner he’ll be hard to beat again. Impossible to knock anything out of the Ron Cowl (Jnr) yard at the minute. Team is flying. SNIPPETY LEGEND suffered his first defeat in WA at 1400m last start. Was $1.70 and just got too far out of his ground in a slowly run event. Needs a more genuine tempo. BONNY ROCK has been a great pick up for Mack Hall and he has placed her beautifully. 2x 46+ wins and a C2 in between. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – LEADING TADDY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4,7,10 1 1,9,12 1,2,4,5,6 Market Market
