Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on October 22, 2024October 22, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE ran fourth on debut behind Real Deluxe (now a 60+ Graduation winner) and then went to York when finishing second behind Mai Aloha. Can work his way forward and looks hard to beat. WESTERN LADY is the half-sister to Western Empire and didn’t have a lot of room to move in her recent barrier trial. Last meeting was a Joey Azzopardi / Michael Grantham picnic and so she must be very well respected. COZZIES CHOICE went around $6.50 on debut in a Belmont 3 year old midweek and 6 weeks later finds herself in a Geraldton maiden dropping 5.5kg. COSTA STAR may want further. Numbers: 7 – 14 – 12 – 10 Suggested Bet – WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE WIN RACE 2 MYTHICAL DREAM was about the only Peters Investment horse not to win at the last meeting on Ladies Day but she was pretty stiff in review. She got held up behind tiring horses until the race was over and then burst through late to grab second. Ready to win. RALLY THE TROOPS got into all sorts of trouble on debut behind Supido Express as a 2 year old and then got back on a day where it was near impossible to make any ground at Bunbury first-up. Blinkers on, regally bred and always shown above average ability at trials. Danger. BLACK SANDS almost caused a boilover fresh. FLYING SURPRISE ran fourth in a 46+ at York at huge odds first-up. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – MYTHICAL DREAM WIN RACE 3 SPARKLE CORNER returned first-up no trial and sat in the breeze before being swamped by The Rush late in the race. 3 weeks later should present fitter for the outing, draws barrier 1 and can either lead or box seat. Looks a good set up for him. LIFE OF BRIAN hasn’t fired a shot in a long while but looked good in his recent trial win. Keep safe. IRONCLAD BOY drops back to 1100m and that’s a big query. STEVIES MAY wasn’t a bad effort fresh behind King Akeed in a C2 that should hold up as a form reference. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPARKLE CORNER WIN RACE 4 GEORGE GENTLY finally showed something two starts back at Geraldton behind subsequent Westspeed Platinum dead heat winner Pull The Trigger before heading to Northam last start where he was targeted in betting but never really got into the race. On the back-up, back to Geraldton and out to a mile. One last time. ODIN OMEN had been backed on multiple occasions unsuccessfully but the punters finally got their own back last start with a gritty win. DAIYAMONDO was massive in the same race into second and put the writing on the wall. MANHATTAN JEWEL got a soft win at York. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – GEORGE GENTLY WIN RACE 5 MIA GUSTO finished second to First Beach in the Ladies Day Sprint and looks ready to finally win one. Has been there abouts all preparation including finishing third to Bondi Plunge and finishing only 3L off an in form Keep Attacking in the metro area. Maps to get every chance and carried the weight well last start. SURE NO SOMETHING was back to his best in the same race and did go on a winning spree at Geraldton when he first arrived in late 2022. SAFE HUSTLE has been great in both runs at the GTC. MAKE MINE SUPER found his feet at the end of last season. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – MIA GUSTO WIN RACE 6 WELL PLAYED was a great find for Albert Bowtell last season winning four races in the preparation. Her first-up run without a trial was super behind First Beach and Mia Gusto and she’s better suited here from a better draw. Still plenty more in store for her. THE RUSH is the obvious danger after descending upon them at the opening meeting and then doing it tough last start three deep. UNO ME was winning a long way out last start this track/distance. MANHATTAN STRIP meets him worse at the weights for being beaten in that event but does get Tash Faithfull on. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – WELL PLAYED WIN RACE 7 SNIPPY WHICH looked brilliantly placed last start and duly saluted. The shades went on, he dropped out of a Saturday 60+ Graduation behind Miss Flirtacious, Hang Glider and Ahyeahrighto and he won soft. Can continue on his merry way. PATCHWORK is a brilliantly honest and consistent mare. She’ll win plenty more races this season (again). GALAXY AFFAIR ran second to Toropa only three starts back. That’s super form for a c70+ and he won back to back Geraldton races last season. STARCHIENNE was trying to work her way through heavy traffic late in the race last start. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – SNIPPY WHICH WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4,6,8,12 1,3,4,7 3,4 1,3,4,6,9 Market Market
