Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on February 21, 2023March 10, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 QUEEN TIFFANY burnt across from a wide gate at 1200m, lead, controlled and then was swamped by the swoopers before kicking back late in the race. Think she’ll be better suited back to 1100m and allowed to stride out. Should kick through to lead again and from there she’s the one they’ll need to run down. BIDAYA is a former Godolphin filly who makes her WA debut for John Reynolds after being bought in an online sale for a mere $2750. She trialled extremely well in ear muffs and finds a country maiden for her first outing. If she gets across from her middle alley, she’ll take holding out. Should prove an astute purchase. BOLD PROPHET continues to run honest races. OUQBURRA went close a couple of times earlier in the season. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – QUEEN TIFFANY WIN RACE 2 DENZOE is a 24-start maiden, however, this is a very winnable race for her and she’s been going well. Beaten a nose four starts ago by Gold Friars (beat home Ihts Closing Inn and Let Them All Talk), beaten a nose two starts ago behind Hot Chatter beating home Land Of Fire and Cocoon Bay (since third and first respectively in a Belmont maiden). Went to a C1 last start and now finds a country maiden with Troy Turner on. Now or never. VIVAROK ran well on debut at 50-1. Hit the line strongly and is drawn far better. ESCALATING ran well at his first outing for Miles Bain. Barrier hurts. DESTRUCTOR comes back to 1400m after failing to run out the mile. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – DENZOE WIN RACE 3 WESTOZI is an emerging 3-year-old who Albert Bowtell has flying. In the last 2 months he’s won a 1200m maiden, a C2 1600 and a 58+ 1900. He’ll need to lump 60kg here from the outside gate and cover an extra 200m but the way he’s going it’s hard to ignore him. If he had gone straight last start, he would have won by far more than the 2L margin. Going super. TAKE ANOTHER LOOK only meets him 1kg better at the weights for a 2L margin. She’s back to her best and she can hold form. PROXY really needs to kick through and hold the top because he doesn’t have a turn of speed. BIG RED HAWK is one paced. He didn’t beat much at Pinjarra but he kept kicking. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – WESTOZI WIN RACE 4 SANS LE SOU has been a bit frustrating for punters over the season, but at the same time she’s hardly run a bad race. Won a 1400m 70+ by 4L over Minus Looks going back to November and since that day has gone round $2.25, $1.90, $2.90 and $4.00 in defeat. Troy Turner going back on is sufficient reason in itself to justify going her way one more time. PASSPORT was big last start. He gave Eliminate windburn, something that rarely happens in the region. Just needs a good steer from a tough draw. DARK PEAK is racing well and is drawn to get the run of the race. STELLA FAIR can give cheek if leading. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – SANS LE SOU WIN RACE 5 JUSTA LIL FAITH has been a revelation since joining Julia Martin. She won a C2 1400m four starts ago, then finished third to Westozi in a C2 1600 before dropping back to 1100m last start. Great effort to finished only 2L off them at the sprint trip and now back to a more suitable 1400m she looks hard to beat. Is a tough little filly so if she does get posted three deep from the wide gate it’s not over. DEMERITS PRIDE was solid in the same race and while meeting her 4kg worse at the weights gains the services of Troy Turner and is drawn to enjoy a far more economical run in transit. TRADED CROWN won well last start and can win two on the bounce. DATALKA ran well at his first start in Geraldton. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – JUSTA LIL FAITH WIN RACE 6 RUSSIAN SNIPER and LET TEM ALL TALK are both last start maiden winners at Geraldton who won with a level of authority. RUSSIAN SNIPER is a well related 3 year old who looks like he’ll only get better with more distance and more experience. After the claim he carries the same weight as his maiden win and should get a soft run from the favourable alley. LET THEM ALL TALK was plunged in one of the biggest betting moves of the season and sat three and four deep and monstered them. Think they’ve figured him out. BERRY BERRY GOOD is hard to run down from in front. HELL RAIDER is bursting to win a race. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – RUSSIAN SNIPER WIN RACE 7 THE SINGING TIGER can park up behind the speed (Verdigras, Superlove, Mistinguette, Fascination) and enjoy a gun run. Resumed in a 70+ when finishing third (less than a length) off Jupiter Rising and Dark Peak. His last three have been at 70+ level and now he drops into a 58+. His last two wins have been at 58+ level and this looks a good set up for him. JEANELLA took advantage of an inside run last start and burst clear to win soft. Barrier 11 of 12 makes things more difficult. SUPERLOVE is similarly drawn woefully but ran well fresh. MISTINGUETTE sneaks back into a 58+ after racing outside the handicap her last two. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – THE SINGING TIGER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,8,10 1,4,5,9 1,4,5 1,2 Market Market
