Scott Embry’s Thursday Geraldton Preview Posted on December 9, 2020December 9, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BENTLEY BEAU went awkwardly for a stride just before the home corner and then was held tight as they straightened up. In the end got within a head of the winner and arguably should have won. Tiarnna Robertson does a super job with her team and this looks yet another winner to add to her imposing winning strike rate. Pateman rides Geraldton particularly well and he should be too good. LA CHAIVE went under in a narrow photo last meeting when fighting back underneath Don’t Argue Buster. UNIBELLE joins Graeme Hammarquist and ran a few handy races in town. FIREBRACE wasn’t a bad trial recently and could run a cheeky race. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – BENTLEY BEAU WIN RACE 2 PEACE PRIZE put in a really good run at Ascot four starts ago behind Holyoake, beating home subsequent winner Temptacion. The put in a couple of below par performances but was much better last time out behind Reguardless, Ischinca View and Iron Sharp. Weak maiden, blinkers on and drawn soft. TIME STARTS NOW is far better suited at 1400m than he was last start fresh at 1200. SECRETUS ran well on debut and just blew out late. Natural improvement and fitness puts her in the mix. SNOW PRINCESS certainly wasn’t disgraced on debut. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – PEACE PRIZE WIN RACE 3 INVICTUS DOMINI comes up in grade but gets important weight relief after lumping 62kg of Mitch Pateman around last start. Lead them up and ran them into the ground (again). Overall time 5L faster than average and was eased down late to score by over 1.5L. By far his toughest test in Geraldton so far but looks capable of continuing on his merry way. SADLERS HILLS was sectionally the run of the race last start when sustaining a wide run. Wins one very soon and looks a big danger to the likely favourite. STRONG HEART was coming hard last start but had real traffic issues. Much better performance. GINGER WILLIE must be getting sick and tired of chasing Invictus Domini around. Unfortunately this isn’t a C2 because he is flying. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – INVICTUS DOMINI WIN RACE 4 RIVEROLA was huge at his WA debut when second to Bitovemu when getting involved in a bumping contest for the majority of the home straight. Second-up was again impressive when whipping around them midrace and only nabbed late by Family Discussion. Last time out stepped to a mile and ran into Invictus Domini. Nothing wrong with being beaten 5.5L by him. Worth forgiving. UNDER THE ARCHES doesn’t win out of turn but looks like Gordon Spowart will have plenty of fun with her. ZIERA just needs to overcome the wide alley to be a big contender. AEROLITE has been impressive so far this season without registering a minor placing. Keep safe. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – RIVAROLA EACHWAY RACE 5 TUMUT RIVER won a lowly c56+ Trophy Race at Moora at his WA debut. Second-up ran fifth but only beaten 1.25L behind stablemate Scotopia, Flash of Thunder and Bitovemu. Had genuine excuses two starts ago when rearing and then was thrown in the deep end into a 64+ at his most recent. Blinkers on, back in grade, no surprise to see a sharp improvement. ALL THE JULZ was well supported last start and then her followers got absolutely no luck at all (riding change and traffic issues). Carleen Hefel looks like she’ll put in more good rides than bad and is definitely worth following up. PAGANI has come back to racing in particularly good order and there is no reason why she can’t win again. ADMIRAL HUSSON an improver. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – TUMUT RIVER EACHWAY RACE 6 MYCROFT is being given the old mix and match special by Gordon Spowart this preparation but it’s working a treat. 1400m back to 1100m up to 1600m and now back to 1200m but it doesn’t seem to make any difference, he is flying. From the draw he will hold a position midfield with cover and then unleash late. KENYLUCK is running them ragged and is the perfect Simone Alteieri horse; jump and run. DASHING IMAGE is improving quickly into the campaign. HOT STYLE is a classy type resuming. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – MYCROFT WIN RACE 7 DIVIDE THE SEA has had an interrupted preparation (and hasn’t even resumed yet). Trialled back on 22 October before being nominated, accepted and scratched. Since he split Mycroft and Lorentinio in the trial under a throttle hold by Pateman most punters have been excitedly waiting for him to make his Punters Paradise Utakarra debut and he’ll finally step out in a winnable 58+. WILDONBROOK like all of Adrian Tiver’s team is going super. Clearly knocking on the door. BITOVEMU gets back in his races but has a big finish on his day. SCOTOPIA should bounce back returning to the Midwest. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – DIVIDE THE SEA WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4,9,10 1,5 2,5 2,4 Market Market
