Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on February 11, 2020February 12, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 MIDNIGHT BLUE gets one more chance. She has been costly to punters in her short career and looks a dour out and out stayer. If Pike can get her out of the gates and settle just a pair closer in running she should be able to get over weak opposition. HARD TO CEE strikes a winnable race. Has been there abouts for months and Magic Empire won from his most recent race. ALL ON BLACK is one of the few runners to come from a faster than average maiden race. Could be an improver. WATTO’S REVENGE made late ground at her most recent and didn’t get the best of runs. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – MIDNIGHT BLUE WIN Race 2 HOOLAHOOPS steps up in trip but both runs have had merit. Ran fourth on debut in what could be a hot form race (Long Beach, Alexis Olympia, Uncanny Timing). No luck last start. SEA WAIF is getting mighty close to breaking through. GOODBYEFEDS is double nominated for Ascot and Bunbury. If he scratches Wednesday and saves for this he is the one to beat. GLAMOUR PACKED ran well last start when wide the trip. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – HOOLAHOOPS WIN Race 3 FAIROUGE trialed very quiet for Ryan Hill at Lark Hill and went round at a big price on debut. Sat outside the leader and was far from disgraced when fourth to Paris Report, Modern Times and Goodbyefeds. Steps up to 1400 and this is not a deep race. COME RIGHT BACK ran two good races in his first preparation and trialed well for a return to the races. LYLE’S CHOICE was well supported fresh and had absolutely no luck when deep the trip from gate 6. MOAMA ROSE finished off well at Albany. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – FAIROUGE EACHWAY Race 4 COMFORT ME has been very impressive at trials. The most recent was nothing special in terms of time (1:02:04) but that and the October trial showed he has an abundance of ability. Should come out running from the gate and with even luck is in the finish. BERET ran third on all four occasions when last in work and if she can reproduce any of those efforts she’ll take a stack of beating. UNIVERSAL ANGEL was scratched from a Saturday maiden a fortnight ago which is a slight concern but trialed alright. BON ODYSSEY has had a heap of trials. The most recent easily the best. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – COMFORT ME WIN Race 5 CORNFLOWER has put the writing on the wall at her last two starts when jumping out of the ground late. Steps to 1675m here and ran very well in a fast run race behind Puckapunyal. Can break through here. REDMILL should be able to work across and find the front. Last two have both been good. CONQUERED ZONE improved sharply second-up when the shades went on. PATY’S FORCAST has been catching the eye every outing. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – CORNFLOWER WIN Race 6 APACHE PASS ran very well first-up in Saturday 3 year old grade. Guesteen, Chatter Session, Holy Ghost and Snippy Miss all have above average ability and into a C3 is no tougher. Looks hard to beat. TRAMONTANE has X-Factor about him. If he can roll along and get clear turning for home he’ll be hard to catch. GESSATO was a touch slow away from the inside and never got into the race last start. SOLARIZE could be a stretch at the 1200 but has a motor. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – APACHE PASS WIN Race 7 FAIRVIEW carried 3.5kg more than Classic Pro first-up when lumping 60 and going down by a narrow margin. Gets 1.5kg on that galloper here and can definitely turn the tables. Only two starts ago ran a fast finishing 4th to Chix Pic, Plutocracy and Essential Spice. That is hot form for a C3. CLASSIC PRO is always there abouts and excellent placement with a 3kg claimer. DRINKWHATYOULIKE has contested exclusively Saturday three year old company for 6 months. This is easier. COCKYJOY looks a Saturday mare in the making. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – FAIRVIEW Race 8 STEVIE’S WONDER took the entire length of the Geraldton straight to win two starts ago and then was thrown in the deep end when kgs outside the handicap in a Saturday 72+. Drops back to a more suitable race here and looks like he’ll be in the finish. SMITH is going well without any luck at all. Pat Carbery jumps off to ride Stevie’s Wonder and it’s a great pick-up for Chris Parnham. YOU AM I usually goes well in this kind of grade when drawn soft. MIDNIGHT BANQUET is in a rich vein of form. Numbers: 4 – 11 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – STEVIE’S WONDER WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,6,11 1,3,4,9 1,2,3,6 2,4,5,11 Market Market
