Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on October 30, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 BORN TO TRY drops in grade and looks to hold a class edge on rivals. Likely goes round at ~$1.60 but should box seat and be able to sprint past an even bunch. MISSALFIE was a big debut winner over a smart one and then was never a hope in a slowly run race dominated from the front. PRAYING WITH GOD will be the outsider of the field but won well last start. MORE FIZZ sits over the speed and improves with racing. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – BORN TO TRY WIN Race 2 UNDER THE ARCHES has had his fair share of chances but this is one of the weaker races he has contested of recent times. Two starts ago the saddle slipped and he was brave to still run third. Last time out he was stiff to run into a progressive staying mare in Sentimental Gift. DEPUTANO looks the logical danger and a one paced stayer. HARD TOO CEE has a senior rider on off a quick back up. SLOW TRAIN COMING next best. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – UNDER THE ARCHES WIN Race 3 MINI WINNIE jumps off the page. Likely opens up odds on and deservedly so. Last preparation was luckless throughout the campaign and stiff not to win one. Trialed well and then was thrown into the 3 Year Old Classic. Far from disgraced beaten under 5L and this should be the race he breaks through. ICE TRADE has come off the back of two very quiet trials. BALDERDASH and VERDIGRAS both trialed nice enough for their debuts. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – MINI WINNIE WIN Race 4 THREE EZE caught the eye at trials and ran accordingly when well supported on debut. Should take natural improvement from the run, roll forward from an awkward alley and take beating at his second career outing. TOLLMAN ran a huge race on debut behind a couple of above average types. Clear and logical danger. POWDERBELLE has had no luck last two with the saddle slipping. VERACINI improved at her second outing. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – THREE EZE WIN Race 5 SUBLIME IMAGE looks progressive. Her first-up run over an unsuitable trip caught the eye and she was a strong winner last time out in a metro maiden. This is not a deep C1 and she gets a wonderful opportunity to win two on the bounce. MELTEME might sneak under the radar to an extent. Should bounce straight to the top. DO A PATAKY was good first-up and should improve again out to a mile. SHADOW HUNTER back in trip is more than capable of bouncing back. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – SUBLIME IMAGE WIN Race 6 THROWDOWN is an out and out stayer. His first up effort at 2000m was excellent. Scrubbed along to keep up from the 800 but finished off powerfully late in the piece. If Pateman can get him out of the gates and hold a position in the run he’ll go close. SENTIMENTAL GIFT was a big maiden winner over a trip and then dropped back to an 1800 last time out when sitting off an extremely slow tempo. Back to a staying trip, hard to beat. ABELDANE is getting very close to another all the way win. REGENT STAR a blow out from a soft draw. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – THROWDOWN WIN Race 7 HORIZON has always got under the guard to an extent. Winner of 2 from 5 and finished off last campaign in top level 3 year old company. 5L off Dance Music, City Circle and Lookout beating home Advocator and Daishio then did it tough in a race containing Flirtini, Coming Around, True Attraction, Black Sabbath, Playing Marika and Unibro. Trialed nicely and can return a fresh winner. STORMY RULER should be afforded every possible in the box seat but likely goes round very short. DESERT THORN was solid at Kalgoorlie. GEIGER GEM double nominated for Saturday but if he runs he’s in the mix. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HORIZON WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5,7 1,4,6,8 1,8 1,5,8 Market Market
