Scott Embry’s Thursday Bunbury Preview Posted on April 22, 2020April 23, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ATLANTIC RULER never stopped chasing last start in a fast run maiden on Good Friday in a race and on a day which was dominated by on speed commodities. Stepping up sharply in trip but looks like enjoying a good run from the gate. Can go close. WHOS A PRETTY GAL ran out of her skin last start. From the gate she should give a big sighter. KEBALAH has had a huge number of maiden chances but this looks a winnable race. ZINGANO is on debut at 1700 but brings the unknown and this is a weak maiden. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ATLANTIC RULER WIN RACE 2 MODERN TIMES is limited, definitely no star and probably doesn’t have overly long left in the Lindsey Smith yard but with the shades on, off 7 days and drawn a plumb alley gets one more opportunity in a fairly thin race. LASCIA STAR trialled well and the winner of the trial was impressive on Saturday saluting. MY BLUEBOY has been there abouts his entire career but struggles to get his head in front. THE NATUROPATH from back in the field can wind up late. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – MODERN TIMES WIN RACE 3 AGENT JAY returns to the races just under two months between runs. From the gate Shaun McGruddy can have him right over the speed and even box seat awaiting the cutaway run. His form in the previous campaign was strong and SJ Miller is definitely firing at the minute. KUDAWOULDASHOULDA ran a big race fresh when leading. AWAY WE GO is talented but does a few things wrong. Wins a maiden fairly soon. PALAVER went close two starts ago in a similar race. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – AGENT JAY WIN RACE 4 MISS MERIT jump and run should be getting the job done here. Was really allowed to stride by Beaux Edwards last start and ran a ripping race all things considered. The inside was a no go zone and she hugged the rail and was only run down late when paddling last 100m. This is an even weaker race. Should break through. MADRID CENTRO was a huge run last start. AMASTRYKER can be an improver. INDRIEL another with novelty claims. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MISS MERIT WIN RACE 5 CRISTAL DANE was nominated and accepted for an almost identical race last start and looked awfully hard to beat on paper. Was scratched and now has bars added. Big red flags and concerns but still on recent form should be in the finish. STIRLING ESTATE is ready to win another race. ANGELIQUES FAME draws awkwardly but is racing well and Kyra Yuill on fire. VALIDATION has had no luck in two runs for Greg Beauglehole. Keep safe. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – CRISTAL DANE WIN RACE 6 RAGING ROCKET is having his 12th run in the preparation but last start was definitely one of his better ones. The horses who finished in front of him at Ascot (Point Taken, Wakan Tanka and Avalon Bay) would be short priced favourites in this field. Nice race for him. MASSA MAC is far better than what he is currently showing. Keep him safe if he gets out in the market. DOLLY EM should nearly cross and lead this field and that’s where she wins her races from. JEBEDIAH is a perennial maiden but this is not a lot tougher. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 9 – 13 Suggested Bet – RAGING ROCKET WIN RACE 7 ICE TRADE is going very well at the minute and from the gate Kyra Yuill should have her within striking distance of the leaders upon straightening. Hard to fault any of her form. PEPPIJACK got out to an incredible price first-up for a horse who almost won a 72+ first-up last campaign. He is a talented animal and if there is any rain around at all he will love it. REWRITE THE STARS was backed as if unbeatable first-up when a late scratching because a bar plate was unable to be reattached in the mounting yard. ON RED ALERT was a super run last week. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 11 – 9 Suggested Bet – ICE TRADE EACHWAY RACE 8 CAPTAIN JACK had only won the one race from 50 odd starts until he joined the Justin Warwick yard at his most recent start as a 9 year old. He looked a completely different horse. Capable of winning a few because he has started with such a low rating. Wouldn’t be discounting him going back to back. SAN CRISPINO steps out to a staying trip for the first time in the campaign. Very consistent and honest mare who races on speed. GLEN ALBYN can get across from the wide gate and give cheek at a price. ADMIRAL PROMO was super impressive last start. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN JACK WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,6,8,10 3,5,6,7 1,3,4,6,9,11 4,10 Market Market
