Scott Embry’s Thursday Belmont Preview Posted on May 27, 2020May 26, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SATURDAY SUN was enormous first-up at 1000m when settling near the tail and flooding down the middle of the track. His closing sections were highly impressive and he can take up a position from the gate over 1200m. Should be getting very close to breaking his maiden. RAPID TRANSIT trialled very well for his return to racing and was placed behind some handy types when last in work. BOSNIPP should derive great benefit from the debut effort and it wouldn’t surprise to see Lucy Warwick grab the front here. THE ANVIL trialled like a beast on a couple of occasions. The drawn makes things interesting but he certainly looks to have X-Factor. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – SATURDAY SUN WIN RACE 2 MISS MARGAUX was big on debut when leading and giving a big kick before being gunned down by emerging filly Karijini Aurora who has since won a C1 and a Golden Bracelet down at Albany. Then was a bit disappointing at her second start when trounced by stablemate Last of the Line. Freshened up she should be very hard to roll. PIMPIN trialled impressively. Alan Kennedy elects to side with Cousin Ivan so Paul Harvey picks up a plumb ride. SHADOW SHIFTER has had a lot of opportunities but ran well last tart. JONO backs up off 7 days from a solid outing. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS MARGAUX WIN RACE 3 CHOKSLAM went under first-up behind Sweet Ruler and subsequent winner Black Lightning before looking home for all money before Silver Scout nailed her right on the post. That run was super and they really kicked away from the rest. Should be breaking through here but many punters have said that multiple times before. BOLSHOI GAL is honest and consistent and wins one of these midweek type maidens soon. DELLARAAJ was hitting the line powerfully in a Belmont trial and looks like eating up the ground. KING CABERNET consistent but no world beater. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 13 – 7 Suggested Bet – CHOKSLAM WIN RACE 4 DARCELE accelerated like the winner last start but couldn’t hold the late challenge of Vital Image. The third horse Night Session went very close at his next start to make the form look good and from the gate O’Donnell can get him into the three deep line which should be the place to be. MISS MALIBU has been given 12/10 rides by Cover her last two and deserves a win for both horse and rider. SMART FASCINATOR should land a lovely position from the gate and the first-up run was good enough. MAGNUSON MAN comes up from Albany and will run them along. Numbers: 13 – 10 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – DARCELE WIN RACE 5 MAROCCHINO, WESTERN CHANT and MR MT WALKER are all talented 3 year olds who are well placed into a C3 against the older horses. Liked the way MAROCCHINO hit the line over an unsuitable trip first-up. Better suited at 1300m and Jarrad Noske picks up the ride with Jason Whiting electing to stick with Reaction. Will get back in the run but three deep cover down the middle should be the pattern of the day. WESTERN CHANT ran well first-up in a hot form race. Versatile filly who can race on or off speed. MR MT WALKER was sent down to Albany last start for an easy kill and got out to a remarkable price when bolting in. Drawn to do no work. REACTION was huge against the pattern last start and a repeat performance makes him a big winning chance. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – MARROCHINO WIN RACE 6 EURASIA is now 54 days between runs and has likely been freshened up by the Wolfe yard for a tilt at the Belmont Guineas (already looking a brilliant race). He has 62kg to lump and could well be snagged back to last but he has far more natural ability than most C3 opposition. No surprise to see the cream rise to the top. HOTHAM VALLEY ran a ripper fresh and is well suited in the track conditions. Big danger and underrated type. ROCKNRULER should be able to control the speed and is going well. TRUITARA comes up in grade but is in white hot form this prep. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – EURASIA WIN RACE 7 JAGUAR GREY looked vulnerable last start stepping into Saturday Graduation company straight out of a maiden win. She ended up in an awkward position and charged to the line very impressively. These conditions should suit her perfectly as a get back and run on type and dropping back into a C1 looks the winner. MORE FIZZ is fresh here and draws soft. Her form last campaign stacks up. CUBAN TWIST has put together two strong runs this campaign. MARXIAN was big first-up at 1800. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – JAGUAR GREY WIN RACE 8 PRIM AND PROPER is simply placed to perfection by Lou Luciani. Beaten a neck by Niccovi in a 3 year old set weights and penalties race first-up with 56kg two preparations ago and then last campaign third behind Holy Ghost and Snippy miss with 57. Gets into a C5 against the older horses with 57kg after the claim and even if tramping three deep the trip should be too classy. MISSING PRO was a strong winner last start and can overcome a slightly tricky draw. MY DEMI comes back in trip and back in grade and Pike goes on. SANTIAGO GAL should be about ready to fire. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – PRIM AND PROPER WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,6 1,5 9 1,3,5 Market Market
