Scott Embry’s Thursday Ascot Preview Posted on April 23, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 HIGH RANGE was excellent on debut when tackled, headed and fighting back to beat the tried, tested and proven filly Pretty Style. Win was super and can lead or box seat to make it two from two. MISS ELLMYA looked very impressive at trials. Can take the sit and there is a cutaway on offer. NOT REALLY TRUE trialed like a filly who will win races. BONROCA was left alone in a recent Lark Hill trial and won by almost 9 lengths. Nothing special about the time but looked good. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – HIGH RANGE WIN Race 2 ARAFURA gets conditions to suit. The rail is out 16m with a cutaway and he really is an ideal three back the fence cutaway type of horse. Has a sharp turn of foot when getting clear running. DEACALDA is really well placed against the older horses. Not sure where she gets in the run but her 3 year old form is super strong and she is weighted to win. M’LADY, COPPER FURY and JUST A FLUKE all only really know one way and that’s handle bars down. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – ARAFURA WIN Race 3 FORGOTTEN STAR is a nice filly. Her turn of foot is strong and another who does look suited to waiting for the cutaway to open up. From the gate if Stent can hold leader’s back she’ll do no work and can shoot through along the fence. SOPHIE’S SONG has bolted in at her only two wins and they were both when leading. Azzopardi into the saddle ensures she will find the fence. I AM SPARTACUS sits in the breeze and will keep coming. OVER THERE far from disgraced in a strong three year old race. Tough gate to work out where she will be in running. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – FORGOTTEN STAR WIN Race 4 STOICISM was scratched from a winnable race on Saturday to be saved for this. Since joining the stable of Martin Allan has won 2 from 6 including a 66+ win. Brilliant placement and trialed well for return. DUCK FEET won well at a big price last start. He is usually consistent once finding form. KELLY’S CALLISTO is one we’re all waiting from improvement from but it hasn’t come yet. BOLD VICTORY should be almost ready fourth up. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – STOICISM WIN Race 5 ROYAL STRATA is back in form after finding the step up to Saturday grade a little too tough. Her last start win was great and with no weight on her back and an inform apprentice she can make it two on the bounce. SUPERIOR SMILE looks the big and logical danger. Query at 1800m but super consistent and dropping in grade from a game last start second. UNIVERSAL MAE looks a cutaway type of horse. Three back the fence and saved for one sharp sprint. UNCLE LINO can improve sharply without surprising. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – ROYAL STRATA WIN Race 6 CHESTEN FLYER hasn’t been seen since an impressive last start win over Diablerie who has subsequently gone from strength to strength. Hard to hold out fresh, especially if they’re making ground. MORE ACES is impeccably placed to return to the winner’s circle. Two starts ago second in a 76+ race beaten a length and then last start fourth in a 76+. Drops sharply in grade and a good use of the 3kg claim. DON’T FUSS is knocking on the door and more than ready to win. SHOWCASE can win on her day. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CHESTEN FLYER WIN Race 7 FIVE DEGREES back in trip and drawn to lead or sit right over the speed looks hard to roll in the Diggers Cup. Previous win was full of merit and did a bit too much and pulled a bit hard in the Pinjarra Cup when well supported. SALON DU CHEVAL was sectionally awesome late in his first-up assignment. The leaders could not have gone any slower and he was millions coming into the corner. Picked up impressively late and draws the cutaway. TOUCH OF SILVER finally broke through for a well deserved win last start and this looks a nice race for him. ARCTIC STREAM always there abouts. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – FIVE DEGREES EACHWAY Race 8 DAISHIO comes from a strong C1 race behing Soy Tan Rapido who has won since, Inflation who has won since and Patristic who went very close in the same race. Going to need luck from the draw but has to be in the mix. MEGACHINO is still a ‘maiden’ but won super impressively from a long way off them last start. Looks like he has put it all together and if he jumps with them will be hard to beat. FLOWER OF WAR is one from one undefeated and has speed to get herself across. LOOKOUT sits in the box seat and gets every chance. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – DAISHIO WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,6,7 1,3,4,5 4,5,6,7 3,6,7 Market Market
