Scott Embry’s Sunday Pinjarra Preview Posted on February 20, 2026February 20, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SHE’S HOT won first-up when just getting the better of Bosun and Call Me Frosty. At the time it looked like being a hot form reference race but it hasn’t exactly stood up with those two gallopers still yet to break the duck. Since then she has gone to a 3 year old Saturday when third to Our Naughty Secret and subsequent WA Breeders Classic and Challenge Stakes winner Playin’ It Sweet (beating home Natures Rekoning) before running into subsequent Magic Millions winner Twisted Steel. NATURES RECKONING is still a maiden but went within a short head of getting Black Type in the WA Breeders. Dropping out of a Challenge into a 0MWLY. THREE VIRGO’S was kept safe in betting when accepted for her debut (20/10) but was a scratching and then headed to the paddock. Kept quiet in the most recent. I’M GENEVIEVE ran into a couple of sharp C1s last start. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – SHE’S HOT WIN RACE 2 STATE OF BOOM finished second in a recent barrier trial to Win For Buster (big opinion) and they cleared right out to a third placed Bit Tired Actually a further 3.5L back. Shades are on for her debut and while she’s drawn poorly in barrier 11 hopefully the longer straight at Pinjarra Scarpside can allow her to sit back, find her feet and attack the line hard on debut. This looks a pretty thin maiden. ARCTIC SNOW didn’t want to be at the races first-up last prep, attempting to buck before being eased out of it. This time around she’s trialled sharply at Lark Hill. Did run a luckless fifth on debut as a 2 year old on a Saturday. EIGHTYSEVEN LAD chased hard behind Just Walter John and then didn’t seem to run out 1400. SEASTIC won a back straight trial by 6.5L but it was only 4 horses and how many trial winners from the 930s go out and win races? Few. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – STATE OF BOOM WIN RACE 3 BATISTA stepped out on debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY when third to So Si God (huge in defeat in a C1 on Wednesday at Belmont) and Miss Finkmeyer (went around nearly favourite in a 60+ Graduation on Magic Millions Day) and now drops into a maiden and drops 1kg in weight. Looks the right set up for him. WYNN LAS VEGAS was extremely green on debut when heavily supported in betting and only got going in the last 100m when picking up out of nowhere. At his second start he was sent out at $1.35 and never travelled at any stage and was beaten a 4L margin. Has had 2x trials this preparation and has a set of winkers added first time. Has ability but can run his races in patches. Risk v Reward price wise. ACQUIRED TASTE gets shades and looks like she’ll get ground. SHENTON ROAD has run two cheeky races at huge odds so far. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 14 – 15 Suggested Bet – BATISTA WIN RACE 4 WAHOOCHINO really attacked the line first-up over 1400m to get within a head of Lash Out and then was crunched into favourite at his second start but was drawn barrier 1 on a day where the inside 3-4 lanes and cutaway area were a no-go-zone at Bunbury in a forgive. Gets out to 1800m and looks like he’ll stay all day. Sits back, joins the three deep line and winds up hard into this. VAMPI QUEEN was given every chance behind Barney Rommel (did beat home Safedeel) and then didn’t seem to handle breezing and working in the middle stages last start in a 1600m maiden at Ascot. Better suited with cover. Draw might be a blessing. MY TEA should have finished closer last start after getting caught up behind a tiring runner when he was building momentum. BOLD FIGHT has shown glimpses. Just a bit one paced. Numbers: 7 – 15 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – WAHOOCHINO WIN RACE 5 GANGSTER GODDESS stepped out in a 3 year old 0MWLY 1000 first-up at Belmont and was backed to the exclusion of all other runners, eventually jumping $1.50 and beating a handy enough type in Sharpassa (races in a 3 year old 1000 on Saturday at Ascot). Gets out to 1200m, draws barrier 1 and has the tactical speed to hold up leader’s back which is highly important at Scarpside. Horses can win from leader’s back, they really struggle from three back fence. JUST WALTER JOHN is the likely pace-maker who Gangster Goddess will follow into the race and that looks a great chance for them to run 1-2. SILENT DIVA nearly won a C3 last prep and without Pike might be a bit under-estimated. MR KISSINGER was a shade disappointing Wednesday but on the quick spin with a claim can spike. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – GANGSTER GODDESS WIN RACE 6 AZABELLE may not have stayed the trip last time out at 1800m. She led at a really strong tempo (went 5L faster than C3 average overall) and was comfortably run down by Mistress Of War (since backed off the boards in a C3) and Oisin (since run second in a 60+ Graduation). Back to 1400m looks a positive and should be able to shake off Sky River on straightening. CHOUX SHOE was only gobbled up late by Western Lady last start and the third filly Masmelo looks WA Oaks bound. COME ON EMMA is bursting to win a race. Super consistent mare and the weight relief could be key. Gets a gun run behind a genuine tempo. TOUSLED CROWN was held up at a crucial stage last start (still well beaten) and travelled super at her only Scarpside appearance. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – AZABELLE WIN RACE 7 DESERT WAVES has returned in outstanding order and the Summer Dickson team is on fire. Arguably should have won fresh and then duly saluted second-up. This is a nice stepping stone towards Saturday company and becoming more and more a fan of maidens to C3s rather than maidens to C1s. RAPID ROCK finds a really suitable race. Fourth in a 66+ behind Bold Hero, Deel Her In and subsequent winner Soldanelle before finishing fifth behind Touretto, On Patrol and Superfluous. C3 the right grade. SKYTALKER has been a bit of a tease across his entire career. He has only won 2 from 22 but run 6 second placings, and a number of those were either extremely narrow margins or his own fault with bad racing manners! FIVE DOWN is an enigma. Senior a smart move and hopefully he jumps. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – DESERT WAVES WIN RACE 8 ALMIGHTY CLASS absolutely bolted in the Cyril Flower Stakes. He drew well, enjoyed a nice run but once he balanced up he exploded away from his rivals and was really stretching to and through the line. He meets a different style of opposition here, with the Cyril Flower horses joined by the filly Talkanco, a 72+ winner Elite Missile and a host of new additions. Think if he can reproduce that turn of foot he’ll be very hard to hold out. TALKANCO is the one the market may come for. Highly talented 3 year old filly who has been carrying weight at SWP against her own age group. Down to the 54kg minimum and maps to get a very similar run to the fav. ELITE MISSILE is best raced fresh. Love the fact he comes into this 4 weeks between runs. LONDON’S IMAGE is desperately trying to be sat at the moment. Still not convinced she’s better ridden that way (yet). Numbers: 3 – 15 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – ALMIGHTY CLASS WIN RACE 9 DEFENDING deserves to win one. He was huge when four and five deep the trip three back, he was held up the majority of the home straight two back and then last start he led running before being gunned down by a horse who is probably a level above Westspeed Platinum / 0MWLY in True Player. He’s flying and is versatile enough to lead and win or sit and win. SUPERFLUOUS trialled super, did things wrong first-up and then has put in another three honest runs since. He’s no star and he’s still eligible for a C1 but from the draw he’ll get every possible chance. RUDHYAR held his own last start in a Grad and now gets Pike. Wasn’t the strongest Grad but this isn’t any deeper. WAYNE THE PAIN takes a big step from 46+ into 60+. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 12 Suggested Bet – DEFENDING WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,4,5,6 1,3,6 3,9,15 1,2,6 Market Market
