Scott Embry’s Sunday Pinjarra preview

RACE 1

DIVINE PAIR looks to have found his race. Resumed in a Saturday 3yo 62+ when finishing hard late behind Our Boy Dylan and Sassy Trader to run third. Went around an even money pop last start when dropping back into a 3yo 0MWLY race and ran home into third behind How’s The Serenity and Critical Altitude. That pair go to a Saturday 3yo 62+ and he drops back into a maiden (and drops 1.5kg). If he sticks 1400m he should salute. AL QUEPONE did everything wrong first-up after an encouraging trial victory. DARK LASS is no star but gets every chance from the draw. RED CADILLAC ran well on debut.

Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 7
Suggested Bet – DIVINE PAIR WIN

RACE 2

DAIRING SOLEIL looks hard to beat with Willy Pike jumping aboard from the inside draw. She is a 3 back the fence commodity and Pike is the ideal rider of those sort of horses. Short, sharp sprint if she gets through the gaps and is in great form at the minute. Brett Pope on his home track and with the longer Scarpside home straight Pike can be patient. STREET FAIR is the kind of horse who needs every single thing to go his way. Should get those exact circumstances here. HIP WIGGLE finds a new home and Michael Grantham has shown he is capable of improving tried horses (although from Danny Morton would be a feather in the cap). YULONG EARTH is near impossible to catch.

Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 3
Suggested Bet – DARING SOLEIL WIN

RACE 3

STAR STORM had one run in her debut preparation when finishing fourth behind Speed Dream, Spirited Session and English Heritage. Is a query on the form with that race only producing 1 metro placing from 10 subsequent starters but this is a thin race. Simon Miller flying and has no convictions. PLATINUM LABEL ran third on debut to Worth A Risk and Said No One Ever. Was beaten over 5L but still showed enough to be more than competitive here. TRI FOR US has shown something at trials and is drawn to do no work. CINNAGOD should track the fence round and looked alright in a recent trial.

Numbers: 9 – 2 – 10 – 8
Suggested Bet – STAR STORM WIN

RACE 4

MISS LIVINIA looked the goods at trials when skipping around Belmont Park in fairly slick time. Simon Miller has been producing winners for fun in the last month, William Pike rides and she can be forgiven for the flop last preparation. Was 81 days between runs with a scratching 13 days earlier so it was an awkward part of the campaign for her. Tipped out and going off the recent trial she won’t be a maiden long. SMOKER ran well down the straight first-up and was only nailed late on debut. Looks like he can hug the outside fence. BREAD TO FLIRT looked to have a turn of acceleration at trials. SPIRITED SESSION was the target of spirited betting moves when last in work. Promised to win one.

Numbers: 9 – 7 – 11 – 2
Suggested Bet – MISS LIVINIA WIN

RACE 5

SHE’S ENCHANTED has put the writing on the wall at her last two outings. Sat three deep the trip when finishing within a long neck of Amasenus and talented Saturday filly Divine Beat (beating home Our Boy Dylan, Excelestial and Kings Authority) before being well supported in a Saturday race when finding bad luck and finishing second and splitting subsequent winners Amasenus and Requisiton. TREVELLO will be on the 4 day back up and ran well down the straight. SHOCK RESULT may be able to cross them to the outside fence.

Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 5
Suggested Bet – SHE’S ENCHANTED WIN

RACE 6

EMPIRE REIGN is a talented three year old resuming and looks extremely well placed against the older horses and ideally suited after the claim for Madi Derrick. First-up last preparation he split Em Tee Aye (second in the WA Guineas) and Panzdown (winner Wednesday). He then contested the Belgravia Stakes, Fairetha Stakes and Lee Steere Stakes. Those races were littered with Listed and Group animals and look brilliant form for this. SHE’S GOD TO YOU has always looked a Saturday filly in the making. Run some big races out of her weight division in her early days. IMAGE KEEPER won well first-up and looks better suited with a smother. GIBRALTAR DANCER is going well.

Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 3
Suggested Bet – EMPIRE REIGN WIN

RACE 7

STRAWBERRY MIST is a maiden filly in a C1 but she does drop out of the Group 3 WA Oaks where far from disgraced as a 100-1 pop beaten only 5L by Lunar Impact, Pure Devotion, Temptaction, Brave Angel and Reliable Star. Drawn to do no work, rock hard fit and these C1 staying events are always up for grabs. CREZEE is flying and will stay all day. He will be put into the race at some stage and Hall rides these races well. GO IT ALONE was caught up in a washing machine type of race last start. Worth forgiving. BRUNY ISLAND wasn’t bad last start. Run is better than it looks considering all the pace horses hit a brick wall late.

Numbers: 11 – 1 – 2 – 6
Suggested Bet – STRAWBERRY MIST EACHWAY

RACE 8

BELLA’S IDOL ran third in the Bunbury Cup behind Paddy’s Shadow and Montelena, won the Bull & Bush Tavern SW Cup beating Paddy’s Shadow and Utgard Loki and then backed up into a ratings race where weight took care of him and he finished a respectable third behind subsequent Albany Cup plunge horse Marocchino and Unreliable. Gets an 8.5kg weight swing on Unreliable and the services of W.Pike. Gets back but the long straight suits. TRAP FOR FOOLS will have to lump 62kg to victory over 2300m. If any horse can do it it’s him. Should be able to kick through underneath them and find the top. MEDIA BARON was back to his best last start. HE’S A PARKER is hit and miss but showed something in the SW Cup.

Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 6
Suggested Bet – BELLA’S IDOL WIN

RACE 9

FIERY BAY will need to improve again only coming out of a lowly C1 at Pinjarra but the way he won was the look of a horse who is about to go through the grades. Seems to thrive off being covered up and unleashed once balanced and from the draw Brad Parnham can have him midfield with cover and with the long straight at Pinjarra now he gets his chance to balance up and have a crack at C5 company. SOPHIE’S SONG is brilliantly placed by Simon Miller and after the claim for stable apprentice Holly Watson is an undeniable chance. PULI ran second to Elite Street at Belmont and ran second in a 72+ last preparation. Nice horse resuming. ROSEBUSH is always a top 4 chance.

Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 12
Suggested Bet – FIERY BAY EACHWAY
