Scott Embry’s Sunday Narrogin Preview Posted on April 12, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ELLE OF A BOOM comes through a race behind King and Queen and subsequent winner Beau Talk where she covered ground and never gave it away. This is as weak as it gets and it would be no surprise to see her run a cheeky race. CENTRALLA put in his best run of his short career last start when third behind Zenique. Had no form before that outing so you’re taking him completely on trust that he can reproduce. APOGEE is only second-up and out to 1900m but Rob Gulberti puts the blinkers on and if he leaves the gates cleanly can kick through to lead. BLACK SANDS is 1300 to 1900 but does look quite one paced. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – ELLE OF A BOOM EACHWAY RACE 2 MISS FLIRTACIOUS ran second on debut behind Salt Lake Shake who has since been competitive in 3 year old Plate company alongside the likes of Tycoon Harry and Close Talker. She resumes in a maiden handicap and has to carry 59kg but Luke Fernie often brings handy ones to these races (think Cocktail Party / Indie Ruler etc). MAZZETTI showed something at the end of last preparation and the lead in trial before her debut was alright. SCHNOOTS is a long time maiden but has speed to burn. PATRIONIC STAR is E1. Respect if gaining a start. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – MISS FLIRTACIOUS WIN RACE 3 HIGHBOY was over a month between runs when tackling a 52+ 1500 at York last start and gave a really strong kick into the corner before being nabbed on the post by Jolly Lace. Better suited dropping back into a 46+, better suited stepping out to 1720m and still only carries 55.5kg after the Ava Catarino claim. 2 starts track/distance for a win and a third and should be going well here. CHERRY CAN RUN gets out to 1720m and can sustain a run. Shouldn’t do any work from the inside draw. POWERFUL FORCE would be a big improver if jumping. DELTA ANNE is trying hard. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – HIGHBOY WIN RACE 4 CRYSTAL VAIN ran last in a three horse field at Pingrup and then jumped out of the ground to nab Bigdayonit in a Heat of the Sky Racing Provincial Series at York last start. Drops half a kilo off that victory after the claim of ZJP and safely held Tropical Sun and Imposing Brook in that event who he meets again here. Hard to knock. MY BABY BLUE JEAN was unable to find her customary role in front last start and all things considered did a great job to work home under 60kg. DANUBE RIVER is a Narrogin specialist and that takes her a long way. TROPICAL SUN is thereabouts. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet: CRYSTAL VAIN WIN RACE 5 JUST FOR MARCUS won a 46+ 1300 at York two starts back beating Belle Journee who franked the form by gunning them down at Pinjarra last week when turning the tables. 1400m back to 1190, back into another 46+ and while drawn wide he can show enough gate speed to get across into a spot. With even luck he’s right in the mix. WORK HOME FRONT is quick and only has 54.5kg after the claim for Cassey Martinan. Consistently going close. I’M EUGENE is an enigma but his run behind Star Power fresh was a ripper. WEAPON OF CHOICE doesn’t win out of turn but is racing well. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – JUST FOR MARCUS WIN RACE 6 COCKTAIL PARTY was taken on mid-race by Divine Flirt first-up and then was left a sitting duck on straightening when run down by Forever Classic. Went second-up into a deep 3-year-old 62+ and was beaten on straightening. Sonoftheboss ran second in that event and races Saturday at Ascot as favourite. Cocktail Party heads to a 52+ on Sunday at Narrogin. Great placement. CHARMING BELLE finds a new home with Kayla and Peter Farrell. More than capable on her day. DEMITO rides the speed and is tough. IMA WILD GIRL was only 3L off Zipaway one day at Belmont. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – COCKTAIL PARTY WIN RACE 7 LORD GANNICUS is a m71 in a 72+ Narrogin Cup and looks really well placed by Grant & Alana Williams. Four starts back was beaten on the post by Tin Chooks who is now a Listed winner, two starts back won a Westspeed Platinum with 59kg by almost 1.5L and then ran into Tin Chooks again last start in a muddlingly run race which didn’t look to suit. Drops to the 54kg limit and looks the one to beat. HOIST THE COLOURS is rock hard fit, rides the speed and is rarely far from the winner. CRESCENT CITY drops out of the Pinjarra Classic/Bunbury Stakes/Grandstand Cup. Can lump the weight. NEVER SOBER won well last start. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – LORD GANNICUS WIN RACE 8 BEERMULLAH finished within half a length of Our Rocky Bay three starts back at 80-1 but showed that it was no fluke when finishing half a length third behind Wozzeck and Another Strike in a C1 1600 at his next outing. Won well last start in this exact race (Narrogin 52+ 1900) and beat subsequent winners Do It Right and Money For Old Rope in the process. Lots of speed in this and he can sit just behind them. LUCKY HEART is a winner with 61kg so the weight isn’t the worry, it’s just marching across to find a spot early that he’ll need an ounce of luck. ZENIQUE won well last start but this is harder. DESERT PETARD keeps whacking away. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – BEERMULLAH WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,9 2,5,6,7,8,9,10 1,7,8,10,11 4,7 Market Market
