Scott Embry’s Sunday Mount Barker Preview Posted on February 25, 2022February 28, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HENRY THE AVIATOR had two starts in November when finishing second to Vrum and then third behind Pro Is Here and Mountain Ash. Given a 90 day freshen up by Paul Hunter and gives him a strong hand in this race with a two prong attack. From the inside gate should muster in behind them and get every chance. BACK IN BLUE was well commissioned on debut and loomed large in the home straight before just looking to peak on the run late. Comes back 200m in trip and has the added benefit of race experience and fitness. Hard to beat. BETOKEN is a long time maiden but she drops 4kg and is knocking on the door. LUCRATIVE LUCY had shown glimpses at trials. Malcolm Byas can get them going fresh. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – HENRY THE AVIATOR WIN RACE 2 LUVACHAT was great on debut when going round a well supported favourite and encountering a lot of traffic issues at various stages in the race when second to Special Royale. Simply went way too hard at start number two and was entitled to fade as badly as he did. The form out of that race has been great with Wise Words running well since and Sneaky Fox breaking through. Last start was disappointing to the eye but there were genuine excuses in the stewards report. Following up. URBAN WARRIOR has the services of Brad Rawiller and has been the target of smart money at his last three or four encounters. Clearly ready to win one. GORGEOUS GINGER should find this easier than recent assignments. ARAMAT has been going well. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – LUVACHAT WIN RACE 3 WORTH A RISK went down to Albany and burst on the scene when stringing together three impressive victories. Two 58+ wins and a 70+ win in Albany before heading to Ascot and running a credible ninth behind Cheval De Vaga, Trade War and Downforce. Since then has been nosed out by Wild Fusion and then stepped a bit too far out to 1900 last start. Drops right back to 1300m and should bounce back. JERAFT finds a new home with Annette Crump. First-up 1400m last preparation in a 72+ finished only 1.5L off Last Of the Line. FRED DAG has dropped a stack of points and looks like he’s in a position to start winning again. GREYWOLF takes care of the speed. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – WORTH A RISK WIN RACE 4 GINGER GREEN broke his maiden at Mt Barker when beating Speedy Pye (plunged at her next start to victory) and since has finished third, beaten 3L by Let’sdeal (to the Challenge Stakes and Lex Piper Stakes) and then a narrow second to Getyourmoneyandrun who has clearly turned a corner and is starting to emerge as a handy Great Southern type. Same grade, same weight and should go close again. JULIETTE was a super trial for a staying mare. Could be ready to put in a big run fresh. ZAC LUVS TO FLY looked a special last start in a C1. Didn’t let his loyal following down and should get an identical run. SPIRIT OF PROPHECY can run a big race from time to time. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – GINGER GREEN WIN RACE 5 DANEHILL STORM finished second to Highfriar in a 58+ before finishing third behind War Class and Mr Mt Walker in a C5 six days later at Albany. Went to town last start and was never going to be in the race from the barrier and in the grade. Comes back to his right race, right grade and is drawn a great gate. Think he’s a massive chance in this. SAX ON QUE has bars on and is deep into the campaign. Red flag central but horse is flying. STARAUTHORESS will get back and run on. Always finishes off his races better than anything, just needs things to unfold for him. HIGHFRIAR seems to love Barker. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – DANEHILL STORM WIN RACE 6 FLOAT OUR BOAT joined the Ryan Hill stable two starts ago when well supported at odds late in betting. Gave real cheek and took Feels Danish the entire length of the straight to run him down. Then sent to a C1 1850 at Mt Barker and as soon as the markets opened he was off the map. Snipers were waiting and they filled the boots because he never got back out past $2.50. Jumps, leads and plays a bit of cat and mouse with them. Rinse and Repeat. CHAMPAGNE GAL is very well placed into this. Over the last 6 months has been competitive in tougher assignments than what she meets here. Keep safe with CJP on. JAFETICA will need every inch of the trip but thought she ran well fresh. COCKY ED is a tease but he’s been going well. Numbers: 4 – 10 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – FLOAT OUR BOAT WIN RACE 7 SOWAR vs CHICLETT vs EURASIA looks to be the story in the 2022 Tabtouch Mt Barker Cup. Those three look to have a little class edge on rivals. With Corporate Larrikin, Meteor Light, Rhino Buster and to a lesser extent Classic Jack involved there should be a genuine speed and for that reason going to side up with SOWAR who has come back to racing well after a freshen. Drawn ideally and can stay. CHICLETT went out to 2000m at Pinjarra Park and didn’t seem to quite run out the trip strongly. Gets her second crack at the trip and the gate to get everything right. EURASIA drops 4kg after a big weight carrying effort last start. CLASSIC JACK next best. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – SOWAR WIN RACE 8 LUCY DA GREY was a big plunge fresh. Was 39 days between runs, came from Esperance to Albany and after opening $15 jumped $4.60 and never looked like being beaten in the run. From the barrier gets the exact same run and should go close to reproducing the same result. Hard to ignore the way she won. COUNT THE SESSIONS will charge across from the outside gate. CLASSIC MAGNUS is showing versatility and can take cover on the speedy Count The Sessions. ORANGE STRUDEL is going quite well recently and is drawn soft. Numbers: 12 – 5 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – LUCY DA GREY WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4,5,6,11,12 4,10 2,4,5 1,5,8,10,12 Market Market
