Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 6, 2024September 6, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 IFFUBLUSH is the first ride of the 2024 season for William Pike in Kalgoorlie. She’ll likely be favourite and she’ll likely be afforded every chance from the draw. Hard not to side up with her considering she attacked the line hard once clear at her first run for Peter Fernie and it’s now a claiming apprentice to the best in the West. CHOIXRISKA dropped back to 1200m last start and bizarrely was crunched in betting over what looked a completely unsuitable distance. Did a great job to still finish fourth. MANGANUI was luckless in that same race. PIRATES ALLEY will need a bit of luck from the draw. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – IFFUBLUSH WIN RACE 2 CAMERA ACTION nearly won a 3 year old Saturday Plate at Ascot going back to January 2024 when she was beaten a nose by Snippy Which (races in a 66+ 1200 at Belmont on Saturday!). She’s had one run this preparation and didn’t get through the Soft7 track. Trialled super since and back on top of the ground on the Goldfields expect her to improve sharply. ULTIMATE PARADISE has been a model of consistency throughout her preparation and puts herself on top of the speed. PLEASE MIZTER has been okay at trials and draws soft. LYN’S DAKOTA is also quick and now has a set of shades on. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 13 – 11 Suggested Bet – CAMERA ACTION WIN RACE 3 SECRET STYLE made an impression at her Goldfields Debut when leading and winning a maiden by over 3.5L. She took the step from a maiden into a C2 with great success last start after again jumping, running and proving too quick for her rivals. Extra 1.5kg, extra 100m and drawn wide makes this tougher but she’s progressive. DUO MUSO comes through the same race and while meeting her worse at the weights has Pike going on for a claiming apprentice. That’s worth lengths. DUBLIN RED trialled well and then ran into a sharp one down the 1000m straight at Pinjarra. DREAM BROOK won her maiden in a fairly similar fashion to Secret Style at her first run for new connections. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – SECRET STYLE WIN RACE 4 ZING TO WIN has simply been a different animal with a set of blinkers. He has won his last three on the bounce and been dominant in each and every one of them. After winning a C2 by 6.5L he went into 58+ company for the first time as a $1.60 favourite. Was backed out and vetted, over-raced really badly and yet was still able to run down handy mare Parori. He’s flying. KHALIDA has won her last two in style and she’ll bounce straight on the lead. Hard to run down again. EEVALINA has been thereabouts since returning to Kalgoorlie. LOVE DRUNK BABY sneaks back in grade. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – ZING TO WIN WIN RACE 5 DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK will divide opinions. He has done plenty wrong at his last two starts and missing the kick is a recipe for disaster at the KBRC so he’ll need to be on his best behaviour but this is very winnable for him and he’s racing like he’ll run out a strong 1400. He brings the alternate form with the majority all coming through the Immodest race. Secret Style form, Khalida form = good form. ELSUENO has been thereabouts all preparation. IMMODEST shocked them at 40-1 last start. If he reproduces he’ll be right there again. RULING DAME gets Pike. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK WIN RACE 6 HIGH PRESSURE drops back in distance from the 1600 of the Tatts Cup to the 1300m of the Coolgardie Sprint and in a race without much speed and pressure expecting that Brad Parnham will be able to find the front and dictate to them. Meets Debonnaire 3kg better at the weights from their 28 July match-up and is drawn much softer this time around. DEBONNAIRE just continues to raise the bar. He has now won 5 on the bounce and is going from strength to strength. This doesn’t look much harder than The Palace Hotel The Gold Rush that he won last start, just the barrier concerns. HOLY GHOST ran well behind Abloh in the Kambalda Cup. LAQUETTA’S GIFT was a blackbook run fresh. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – HIGH PRESSURE WIN RACE 7 UPPER LIMITS, ADMIRATION EXPRESS, STARRY HEIGHTS and ANOTHER CHINO all come through the Blue Spec Stakes behind Triple Jay (races in the Farnley at Belmont on Saturday) and going to put all the eggs in the one basket and say (unsurprisingly) that the winner comes from that m84+ form race. Thought the effort of UPPER LIMITS was good enough to suggest that getting out to 1760m he would land a spot close handy to the speed and was a chance of turning the tables at an eachway price. ADMIRATION EXPRESS is back to somewhere near her best and she’s a deserving favourite. ANOTHER CHINO will keep improving towards the Boulder and Kal Cups. STARRY HEIGHTS is grinding a bit at the moment. Numbers: 11 – 4 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – UPPER LIMITS EACHWAY RACE 8 SECRET ATTRACTION put the writing on the wall at her Goldfields debut behind Khalida over 1300m. She’s better suited stepping out to a mile, she’s now got William Pike in the saddle and she’s drawn to get the run of the race from barrier 4. She jumps off the page and it’s Pike in the Last at the KBRC. MORE THAN ENUFF gets big weight relief and gets back out to his preferred distance range too. Hard to miss his two runs for Neil Dellar. ONEMOREFORLEO has been up all season but continues to race extremely well. Just needs conditions to suit. IT’S A LANCE is nicely placed back in grade and an excellent use of the ZJP claim. Holds a spot close handy too. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – SECRET ATTRACTION Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,5 4,5,7,8 3,4,10,11 7 Market Market
