Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 25, 2025July 25, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BONDI’S SON caught the eye last start in the race behind Lendanear that a few of the ‘fancies’ come through including Prince Of Bondi and Perfect Ruler. Was far and away the best run that he had put in so far in his short career and with the way in which Mack Hall’s team has been going in recent months going to trust the performance even through he went around 25-1. PRINCE OF BONDI finished just a head of him in that race at the same SP and seemed to really appreciate the weaker jurisdiction. PERFECT RULER can roll to the top and control, stays out of trouble from there. I KNOW NOTHING showe nothing but now has Pike. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – BONDI’S SON WIN RACE 2 HEAVY METAL had 15 starts in the pink leopard print silks for Luke Fernie as a 2 and 3 year old filly and was frustrating to say the least. She had ability but continued to find bad luck in her races or settled too far back and could only manage minor placings. Has been on-sold to new connections and now heads to Kalgoorlie with Peter Fernie and he produces her fresh without a trial, without blinkers and most importantly, with William Pike. OUR DESPERADO has grown a leg since arriving on the Goldfields (relevant to prior performances) and now with new owners and a new trainer should be there abouts again. LUMINOUS LADY loomed large on debut and only peaked up late. THROW ME A KISS wasn’t bad in that same race. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – HEAVY METAL WIN RACE 3 CLOSE AT HAND should be winning again. No spoils in the prices so far at the KBRC, winning by 3.5L at $1.50 and winning at $1.40 by 3L. He’s simply better than his 70+ rivals at the minute and this is a very similar line-up of opposition at 1300m. HIGH PRECISION can be his own worst enemy at times but when he puts it all together he’s quite sharp, as he showed last start gunning down in form mare Treasured Queen. ZING TO WIN hasn’t quite had the same turn of foot as he did last season but might be looking for this distance. SCOTTISH LAIRD has really gone to a new level over the last 3 months. His Kalgoorlie form is 10L better than what he was producing in Esperance. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – CLOSE AT HAND WIN RACE 4 SNIPER’S SON heads to Kal for now Metro trainer Josh Brown and considering the recent form around Hezangelic (now a Kal winner), Haida Gwaii (now a 60+ Graduation winner) and Countess of Kenna it looks the right race for him to break through. After Holly Nottle’s claim he carries only 2kg more in the country than he did in the provincial area in a deeper race. CALL TIME looks the logical danger give the fact she was pulling late ground off Stryker’s Gal last start. ANOTHER LOVE hasn’t shown anything for 12 months but the recent trials were better. GIBRALTAR GOLD took a long time to reel in Our Desparado but always looked like doing so. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SNIPER’S SON WIN RACE 5 SECRET ATTIRE burst through brilliantly to win two back and then went to a 60+ Graduation at Pinjarra when far from disgraced behind subsequent 3 year old 1400m winner Timeless Gem. Deep race but she looks one of the main players and from the draw Tash Faithfull should have her midfield with cover ready to pounce late. BRAZEN EMPRESS won a 1200m Westspeed fresh last prep at Ascot. Big respect for her. PRECAST won a C2 at Kalgoorlie two back then was taken to a C3 F&M 1200 at Pinjarra which was dominated from the front by speedy filly Lucky I Am (races in a 3 year old Plate on Saturday). NATURAL GEM has been in form all season. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – SECRET ATTIRE WIN RACE 6 DATE WITH THE DEVIL didn’t jump for Lucy two back and his race was over, didn’t jump for Brayden last start and his race was over, and now it’s over to William Pike to get him out of the machine. If he jumps, he’s the one to beat, his L600s sectionally haven’t been bad at all so happy to give him one more chance. ON JUST TERMS would ideally like to cross them but that’s a big leap of faith from barrier 12. LET SPARKS FLY ran second to Noble Connection who won on Wednesday and Heavenly Lady won Thursday. PLEASE MIZTER was a C2 winner the last time he raced at Kal. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – DATE WITHTHE DEVIL WIN RACE 7 FEUDING lumped 61.5kg two starts ago and was held up at a really crucial stage in the home straight before finding a gap and accelerating brilliantly over the top of them at 1612m. Last time out he held his own behind Santa Brae after that galloper was ridden perfectly to suit his one paced nature by Alex Hearn. Pike on, weight swing – turns the tables. SANTA BRAE is a one batter, he needs to be allowed to roll. Only way Chris Nicoll can do that from barrier 1 is to lead. MANAVENDRA is suited to this grade. ONEMOREFORLEO is as consistent as they come. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – FEUDING WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,5,7 3,4,10 1,3,5,6,7,10 1 Market Market
